Make a emitted object move with you
Archive: 6 posts
Hi everyone. I'm workig on a top down game and in the level you can use a shield. I want it to work that when you hit r1 it emits and stays infront of you until you release it. My problem is that I don't know how to make the emitted shield stay in front of you as you move around. Ive tried a few things but nothing really works. Anyone out there have any ideas? Thanks!! | 2012-08-20 15:34:00 Author: Dfw86 Posts: 138 |

Have you tried putting a piece of holo in front of you and putting a material tweaker set to sticky on the shield you emit so that it sticks to the holo. I'm not great at these sorts of things but that's how I would approach it | 2012-08-20 16:57:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |

There is a piece of Holo on your character and I set the shield to sticky but it just floats off. | 2012-08-20 17:53:00 Author: Dfw86 Posts: 138 |
I already tried that. There is a piece of Holo on your character and I set the shield to sticky but it just floats off. what's the shield made out of? could you perhaps already have it there but only make it visible and effective when it's needed? or use a tag to keep it in place instead. maybe two to stop it rotating | 2012-08-20 18:12:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
If you want to emit it and have it it stay with you here's what you do: put a follower on the shield itself and set it to follow tag 'SetShield ' or something of the such, making sure the s is set very large (5000 to keep it clean) and the speed and acceleration are both set to Max. Next put a look at rotator on the shield also, setting a new tag 'AlignShield' or something of the sort to be looked at. Set the rotation speed and range to maximum. Now go to your character and set up the tags, the follower take being at the spot you want the shields microchip to be on top of and set the alignment take somewhat in front of the character on an invisible piece of hologram or sicker panel, making sure it's attached to the character with glue. This should cause the emitted object to stay in the same place relative to your character as you move and spin. Hope this helps! | 2012-08-20 18:28:00 Author: Tynz21 Posts: 544 |
Wow thanks a lot. I'll give it a shot as soon as I can. Thank you | 2012-08-20 21:44:00 Author: Dfw86 Posts: 138 |
