Live Free and Mustache Hard (Update: Pictures added!)

Archive: 8 posts

Check out my level "Live Free or Mustache Hard." Designed as a very difficult platform heavy level. I also designed it to look very funky and appealing. I've had around 100 people play it last I checked, only problem is that only five or so people have finished it so far. And I would really love the detailed feedback of others who really enjoy difficult platformers.

I will happily play and give feedback to anyones levels who actually play this to completion, since a ton of my time went into the end of the level.

Search Level: Live Free and Mustache Hard

Story: You are a Sackboy assasin, one of the best. And you are given a mission. To murder a weeabo mustached idiot. Keep it fresh.

Features: Difficult platforming, light but silly story, and all custom made objects (save for a few) and enemies, including an electric zebra that took me three hours to successfully make do back flips.

All feedback appreciated, thanks.

When I try to play it, I get a failed to load level error. You might have to republish it or something.2009-01-10 22:54:00

Wierd, I just got home from work, and it loaded up just fine. Had a friend try too, and he had no problem loading it. It should be fine now.2009-01-11 01:37:00

Tried it for about 15 mins, didnt finish it.

Pros: Zerbas way cool, evil bananas that shoot electric bananas way cool

glitches or psedo-glitches:
the 2nd zebra that has a 'do not pass' light thingy did a backflip right over it, when I died and came back the 1st zebra was upside down leaning against the nails and the 2nd zebra was on top of the nails. Maybe move the sensor up higher or contain the zebras in a ditch that is higher then their jump.
Some of the Evil bananas would back up against the stars so I didnt have a chance to hit thier brains, maybe that was the plan, I don't know.

I stopped after grabbing Dean, I don't know why Dean had to be grab since I could reach the spinning balls, maybe I just didnt notice what he did. The lever arm on the shaft going up made me stop, that was more fustrating the fun for me, but you did say you wanted it difficult.

1 other thing, you should put a continue circle closer to the bananas, its just a long run back when you die to them, not a challenging one.

Looked good for those who like a challenge, Ill try to finish it off later, I want a zebra if its in there

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions, I'll make some fixes later. You do also get a zebra when finishing it. As for Dean, you need to drag him over there, then make it up the shaft, and use the jet pack to go back and bring him up.

Double post, my bad, but made a couple of updates to my level.

Fixed a few bugs, and adjusted the difficulty by adding a few more checkpoints, and replacing a few with double life check points. And I also decreased the speed of the spinning objects in the verticle shaft. Hopefully that balances things out.

Lemme see ...

++) The zebras are AWESOME.
-) Glass floors.
++) Boogie bats!
+) The challenge to get the boogie bat prize bubble was incredibly clever.
-) Transgendia?!
+) I liked the climb-to-get-the-jetpack-to-carry-Dean bit. A lot. Those electro-spikes are MEAN, in a nice way.
*) Smashing Dean to a bloody pulp? Way violent. Heh. So very not kid friendly!
-) Seems like there were a few spots a wider camera angle would have been nice.
+) The level's icon!
---) Not having the boogie bats eat Dean's eyeballs.

ummm ... just played the first part ....

Its a pretty challenging level ... You should really make use of infinite checkpoints.

The monster was pretty well made. And it looks like the jump pattern was pretty well tested ^^" ... kudos for that!

The only problem with them monsters ... is when the jump doesnt succeed and they end up ... upside down .... with your sackboy on the left side of the monster. The sackboy will hence be trapped ... ( The monster is electrified ). Got this problem on my first playthrough.

You really should use infinite checkpoint.

The level is great for hardcore players that can do platforming really well.

I'm really glad you like the Boogie Bats! Since they are pretty much getting there own level in my next effort. They were made entirely by mistake, I felt that the glass floor part looked too bare, so I tried making pink bats that flapped their wings to spice up the area. But how I accidently made them, they danced. And I loved it, so much so my next level is based on them, which I am work on right now. I honestly can't wait to get done with it, I really think it will be something special, everything is coming together for it so well.

I'm also glad you liked the verticle shaft part, since I changed the speed of the spinning wheels to a much slower speed. Glad to know it was just right.

And I'm not too worried about the torture sequence, not much worse than ripping apart a toy, it's all in silly fun. I'm sure it won't get moderated.

And for the Zebras, I'm really glad everyone likes them, and really, on a straight plain, they will flip til days end. But when they hit the spinning wheel they will usually lay on their back, but what most poeple don't realize, when they are on their back, you can still walk on their legs and jump over them.

Either way, I'm a lil' loose right now, but I will get around to playing your levels, thank you both for playing.
