Make your way to the safe zone in each room, before the timer expires and the next room drops down around you. This is an LBP2 flavor of my popular LBP1 series. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks to Morgana25, Lady_Luck_777, and RickRock_777 for your help and support! http://i1.lbp.me/img/ft/291a4bf9401ed0ff491c473c4bf74d7ebe6c7147.jpg http://i1.lbp.me/img/ft/1c114fe0bd592f828fb1de07a61d66b5b0889d45.jpg http://ia.lbp.me/img/ft/53ac9d7a886de3b41f295bce45dcda92bdb3d236.jpg http://ie.lbp.me/img/ft/eee2f65839520558f8212d75bbbaf1011c9b8faf.jpg http://i4.lbp.me/img/ft/aa4890c17422ac3cae5d13bc63da63439b8f36ae.jpg http://ie.lbp.me/img/ft/02ee9c1a35755e675bc5b8058e3fe34e1e50134b.jpg http://i0.lbp.me/img/ft/71070d33f1d393bcb6ab286ba97c3e46c634facd.jpg http://i5.lbp.me/img/ft/ee55a285b975ea8eb3ea7c8489cd3b1f0a0bcd11.jpg http://lbp.me/v/dy66pk | 2012-08-18 21:21:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
A MUST PLAY!!! ..even though I never got a chance to test it. <sniff sniff> Sorry about that, but wow this looks great!! Love the improved graphics over the other versions! | 2012-08-18 21:23:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Queued up and ready to play next time I sign in. From what I saw when you were building it I'm going to love it!! High score challenge anyone? | 2012-08-18 22:01:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
I feel sorry for players that give this a quick 5 minute play and move on. I remember the first time I played the original VR (in the 00Sack game) and thought "Crap! I wish I had thought of that!". I've had this burning, evil jealousy ever since. Well, I just got finished playing this tonight - and after about a 15 minute run... hands sweating, mind focused, trying not to blink... I can safely say that you've nailed it again. This is designed really well. At the start, I feel like I'm just trying to work my way through a labyrinth and gather every last point before working my way to the exit area. As the game progresses and speeds up, I'm trying to perfect those movements. Further on, I'm trying to find shortcuts through the rooms and gather as many points as I can before darting for the exit.... and finally, it turns into a manic struggle just to reach the exit before a room comes tumbling down on my head. So, basically - 7 rooms X 4 strategies = a really innovate game that gives a huge bang for the buck. And yes, Caryn.... there's gonna be a high score fight on this one! (I still have post-traumatic flashbacks from VR 2 when, after about 40 solid minutes and experiencing a near-nervous breakdown, my power shut off!!!!!) | 2012-08-19 02:13:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Awesome! Like Cubbage my hands were sweating, I dare not blink and I inched across my livingroom, closer and closer to the TV, as each room dropped. By the end I had fussed at daughter and hubby to stay out of my way and be quite (they kept wanting to play and "help"). lol You sir are brilliant. Always a pleasure to witness your creations. Now (and Vortex you know it's coming) when can I sneek a peek at the next level?? | 2012-08-19 02:25:00 Author: Lady_Luck__777 Posts: 3458 |
This was an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING race for points, filled with tension...the GOOD kind. You definitely have a way with unique gameplay, and you blow away the Survival level competition. The aesthetics were great, and I enjoyed the variation on strategy that each room imposed. And just when you think you've found that secret formula...it's fried or squished...there's no room for mistakes when the level is running full speed. Bravo! | 2012-08-19 16:02:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
whoa! I nearly passed out when I saw this here. queued. See people, THIS is how you post your level to the showcase. V0rtex, I may just forgo my little tutorial I usually post and just link to this thread. Awesome man. | 2012-08-19 16:36:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |

Although, if the LBPMELEVELURL tag were working properly, I wouldn't have had to get so creative with my OP. Jess sayin'. | 2012-08-19 18:07:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
Sorry for the double post, but... Holy Cow! CCubby - you make me think that 1,000,000 might be possible in single player (I always figured it was possible in multi-player, maybe even a given in 4 player). | 2012-08-20 13:22:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |

CCubby - you make me think that 1,000,000 might be possible in single player (I always figured it was possible in multi-player, maybe even a given in 4 player). Actually, I could have gotten a much higher score. I probably could have hit a million. . My son was watching me play. I had to pause the game and tell him "Listen, Ben - you can be here.... but you can't say a single word. I don't even want to hear your breath!" So, it took me around an hour to get that score. I killed myself because I had flashbacks from VR2 when my power shut off 45 minutes in. My takeaway from playing it is this - if you're willing to just race to the exit picking up a few points along the way once you reach top speed, you can keep going until your brain becomes numb. On the one hand, I like it this way. On the other hand, I think it would be really cool if, after the player reaches a certain number of points, some additional obstacles started appearing in a few of the rooms. For instance, a few electrified hurdles in the level pictured in the 4th picture above. Maybe at about 800,000. Right now, if someone totally gets focused like me, they could potentially keep going... and going... and going... Adding a tiny bit more challenge at a certain score would play on their fatigue - but it still wouldn't be cheap. | 2012-08-20 15:46:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
I was doing so well, throughout most of the level, the speed wasn't that big of a problem, I didn't need any points bubbles really anyways. Then there I was, around round 20, moving down on a green platform, while at the same time the next floor was falling on me. And then out of no where, my sack committed suicide, and jumped off and got squished. Never to be seen again. But seriously the level wasn't that hard. I only died because of my stupid mistake. Allthough after awhile "Speed Ups" I gave up with going for the points bubbles. So i could understand if some people had trouble if they were going for them. This level was very entertaining, and I will be going back for later today. The intensity level was high, one mistake and your screwed. At least at the fast speed. The rooms had a good varity of themes and gameplay. It was fun rushing to the green spot, it made a great gameplay objective. Everything was entertaining, my only complaint is the amount of rooms. I wouldn't of minded some randomized rooms. That way I didn't know what to expect. But still I'm fine with the way it is, it gives you the chance ti know whats coming. Graphics 5/5 -The graphics were great. Each room had a somewhat different theme. But what really stuck out for me was the cave room and how well it looked. Gameplay 5/5 -This level was just plain addictive. Running to get through multiple rooms, while getting points all in a time limit was amazingly put together. Story/Objective 5/5 -The objective is clear. Get points, and to do that you must survive. And its really fun doing it. Overall (Average) 5/5 -If you haven't played this level, you should. Get on LBP and play it now. I'm generally hesitant to change the difficulty after its published, as it doesn't seem fair to those that have already played, but if I were to put the score trigger that high... I may consider it. Will get to your F4F tomorrow night. One comment that I'll reply to is more /randomized rooms. The thermo is getting very tight, but I might be able to squeeze one or two more rooms in. My problem with that is, like I said above, being fair to the players who have come before you. And randomized rooms are a logical nightmare. First of all, the rooms need to have the same opening as the platform from the prior room. Then there's the logic... The whole engine relies on the concept of demitting the room before dropping the next. So keeping track of which room was emitted, to know which one to demit, becomes a real headache. Plus every room takes up valuable thermo. Also... I tried randomized rooms in VR2.0 and the players didn't like it (threw off their rhythm). But seriously... Thanks for playing, and for the kind words. | 2012-08-20 19:11:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |

Thanks for playing, and for the kind words. By randomize the rooms, I meant like having multiple patterns. That way each time you start the level over you get a different one from 3-patterns. Or perhaps you could have patterns sorted by difficulty. And at the beggining you choose between the easy, normal or hard. Or just have difficulty settings with the same pattern you have. For example easy, the time doesn't speed up. So you an get a feel for the rooms, but doesn't record your score. Normal would be what it is now. And then Hard could start at a the fastest speed, or perhaps faster, but you get double/more the points. But those are just my suggestions, (perhaps for a VR4)and its your level so you do whatever you think. Either way this level is addicting so I'll keep playing no matter what you do. | 2012-08-21 00:52:00 Author: SilverTriforce7 Posts: 183 |
This was so addictitng and well designed. Great work, I found myself replaying this level over and over, something I wouldn't do with other levels. Good pacing, good design. 5/5 If you're doing F4F, my level is in my sig. | 2012-08-21 13:16:00 Author: RakasaPlus Posts: 136 |
Awesome survival challenge. The obstacles are varied with many ways to collect as many score bubbles and combos. The visuals made some good changes in this level, especially the cave-themed area. The farthest I got is the third time in area 5. I mysteriously get squished by a VR room after that, which is the only problem I encountered. Still, very good job. wow, just wow! I completely fell in love with this. So fun to play and now that I see all those massive scores being posted, I'll definitely be returning. I loved each room how each one was unique with a great fun factor. Excellent design man. I thought Mario bros. was hard. Nope! I thought my survival level was hard. Nope! I thought my friends action shooter level was hard. Nope! This level is the definition of difficult! This level combine my two greatest weaknesses! Platforming and patience! This is a level worth going back to. Even in the slow bits if you make a mistake you can die. This level is unrelenting and (later) unforgiving. I spent ages trying to get past the first few floors then it speeds up! Truly a person who like challenging themselves paradise! The visuals were simple yet good looking. The tutorial was easy to understand and the VA in it was crisp and clear. The only problem I had was being in the green safe zone and still being crushed.( I blame my own skills) Though I guess that is part of the challenge. One thing I have to say to sum up this level is: Finger sweating good! ( bad pun intended) | 2012-08-31 08:09:00 Author: wheelbbase911 Posts: 54 |
