3D Movement Such As LBPK Creating

Archive: 12 posts

LittleBigPlanet Karting has a exclusive 3D rotation device to move objects in ways we cannot do in the other parts of the LBP series. The controls may not be the best, but it still got the job done. Without any glitches, I wish that we could have an ability to do such unqiue creating. Even if it was put in a Creators Pack 2 for 4.99, that would be great. Thanks for hearing me out community! :32012-08-18 05:43:00

can't we just play lbp2? there is a trick to make a 3d camera for lbp2. 2d is basically lbp charm in the series really so i rather stick with 2d and 3d camera trick. we got your 3d camera why would you need more? XD

BTW: welcome to lbpc. im guessing you are one of those people who said the same thing about a month ago. anyway enjoy your stay here now get out :kz: jk

Thanks for your suggestion TRaciti. I found the "true" 3D Create Mode of LBPK awesome, and I completely agree with you that such a feature in LBP would open a whole new realm of adventure for Sackboy. The LBP2 3D camera trick is not capable of true 3D exploration through a level. The last 3 days of the Karting beta, I spent creating a Spaceship that a player could walk through and interact with in a 360 degree spherical movement. LBP2 will never have that capability, no matter what a person does with camera tricks. I would love to see this capablity in LBP3, but if that doesn't happen, we will at least have the ability to create non Kart related levels in Karting, and that's a definite positive. 2012-08-18 17:56:00

I'm so passionate about this idea. This is already possible to a degree but fully patching local space cameras to work at any angle would make this camera viewpoint incredibly easy.

LBPK, like most racing games, has a static behind the player 3rd person camera. Well this is possible with a 3D camera (to get right behind the player) or what i like to call the "local cam" which is a top down camera that has a static behind-the-player view.

Here is my tutorial for the local cam if you are interested.

In patch 1.06 local space was patched to allow an object with a camera flat on it's surface to rotate and keep it's view. Well to get the 3D effect of 3D cams, the camera is placed on the side of a square object. This viewpoint unfortunately, does not turn with an object making the camera distort and behave abnormally. IF local space was patched to work when attached on the sides of objects and rotate properly with them, all kinds of 3rd & 1st person perspective levels would be possible, not to mention easy.

If there was also such a thing as a top down sackbot, these viewpoints would look wonderful and essentially make a 3D lbp.. With sackpeople able to walk around within a 3D environment..

You can't create levels where you aren't in a kart, can you?

Sure you can,You get all the tools from LBP2 (Or at least the important ones)
So the possibility's should be similar...

Somebody created a fairly impressive helicopter level during the beta, though it may have been camera trickery.

I am with the people who said we should just get better tools for topdown levels and a topdown style sackbot option. Lets Keep LBPK's create mode the hell away from the main LBP games. 2.5D is the main LBP game's charm. leave true 3D to spinoff games like karting thank you very much. *mew2012-09-05 00:14:00

NEVAR
Do you automatically assume that if there is 3d create that you'll be forced to use it?
If it's just an option along with 2.5d create then there's no reason to not want it.

There's a reason LBPK was created...2012-09-05 22:24:00

To be honest, little big planets bigger charm is the ability to create stand alone games, as well as regular platforming levels. I'm working on a bigger survival horror project right now and I wouldn't mind some new camera modes, you have the angles but generally they look goofy and sometimes make gameplay a little more difficult.

Spending time on creating a legit 3D level design kit seems like a waste though. I played Slender today, I had no idea you could actually do that in this game. Besides the use of glitches for 3D here constitutes as a level tool, in my opinion. It's not violating in anyway. There are some bugs with it, but it's only a matter of time until that's somehow solved.

Not really.... The physical objects like that helicopter work the same as a controlinator on an object. So you don't have to be in a kart but you can't just walk around.. Which sucks.. because to this day, there is still no sackbot or sackperson that can walk around in a 3D environment.
