forced scrolling

Archive: 5 posts

I'd like to incorporate parts of my level where players are forced to scroll as the level progresses. Can anyone think of a way to get this done? I dont want sackboy to die by touching the edges (hedge hopping), I just want him to be pushed forward.2012-08-15 22:45:00

I dont know how well this will work, but its an idea. A hologram wall that is set to move at the scrolling speed you want, and a sacksuit for the player. Have a follower on the sacksuit set to a tag "wall" lets say, and a tag "player". On the hologram wall set a tag "wall" and an impact sensor linked to it. Have the impact sensor detect touching, and set it to detect tag "player" When sackboy touches the wall, the follower forces him to move with it. or, maybe a better idea, is have he wall emit a tag in front of sackboy to force him in that direction, emitting far enough and long enough to break contact with the wall, and allow for regular gameplay. I dont know. its an idea. Hope it helps2012-08-15 22:58:00

Would it be possible to have a large piece of invisible material that just pushes Sackboy along?

Make any non bordered material invisible: Take a long and very thin piece, then shrink and rotate at the same time (grid must be off). Glue to a bit of Holo, so it's easier to see and select it later.

I think that would be fine as long as there were no elevations or platforms. Im looking for something that will behave like stickerpanel/hologram through other materials, but will repel sackboy (or at least prevent him from passing through it).2012-08-16 22:18:00

In that case, I think you'll need to use a Sackbot like Gedarva suggested. You can use an Impact Sensor and set it to require a tag - the tag you put on the Sackbot.
