This was a fascinating episode. Michael's story is pretty remarkable! It is also a dose of retroactive guilt for those of us that were bothering him with administrative trivialities during his secret transition. 2012-08-15 22:38:00

I hope you enjoy it :-D This would be a pretty good one to start with since we have the community coordinator of LBP Karting (ConfusedKartman) on the show. Not only does he talk some about his experiences with being a coordinator during the beta, but he also given a very interesting history of how he got there.

On a side note, LamboLover had a very bad mic on his computer so this episode has a lot of background noise in it which is uncommon since Tom is really good at cleaning up noise in our podcasts, but in this case it just wasn't possible. Made for some humorous situations though We will try to make sure we don't have issues like this in the future.

If you give it a listen then please let us know what you think :-D

I need time away from video games anyway. xD
I just don't have time to listen to the podcast anymore... Sorry. :/

Fun episode, edition, podcast this time around. I agree that the connection with LamboLover was a bit wonky but for the most part he was understandable and it also led to a great outtake. (One of the best I’ve heard so far.)

Even though this one was recorded shortly after the last one you still had a good amount of items to talk about and it really felt a lot like you are back into the PMP rhythm. (All the Summer special episodes are great but it is also good to be back in established waters.) I also notice that there is a lot less focus on the PMP memes and in-joking of the past and that may be another good thing in the hiatus created by the special gamejam episodes.

-----

As a person who is also in the Survivor competition I liked the bit where you both riff a bit on what is going on in the game. I’m sure that not everyone is as interested in it as I am but I’m looking forward to hearing how that little bit goes in future podcasts.

While I’m on the subject and since I keep forgetting to get this included in other discussions I’d like to nominate Smufetta as a future guest on the show. She has both the experience with the Weekly Planetarium being on the staff and well as the behind-the-scenes insight of the Survivor season that is currently in progress.

Though I’m sure she’d not be too comfortable discussing Survivor at the moment if you had her on and mr Radical as the repeat guest after the season was over that’d be a great combo especially if you wanted to do a Season 10 post-mortem.

-----

I really like that many times to the interview with your special guest ends up being the origin story of that person in the world of LBP. With Confused Kartmen we got that two times over, hearing how he came to be at the helm of LBPC and how he got into his current role as community coordinator.

I don’t think we got as much about LamboLover’s origins as he played off against the LBPK angle and the game jam but there is still future guest appearances that can make up for that I suppose.

-----

The Princess Pack discussion is fun and I think there is something about eyeliner that caught my attention but maybe that was a LamboLover thing.

I agree with the majority on Tangled, I thought it was a great movie. It was very refreshing to get actual relatable characters that had development/progression over the course of the movie, a strong female lead that wasn’t sacharrine sweet, trendily feisty/confidant or just plain stereotyped and a story that had a bit of substance and didn’t try to hide behind musical extravaganzas and fancy graphics.

I’m looking forward to Wreck-It Ralph, should be some good nostalgic fun if it is anything. Hopefully it’ll also be funny and a good movie. It reminds me of a video game version of Ready Player One by Earnest Cline in that it will probably be an homage to all the classic bits of gaming.

-----

I think that your Would You Rather question is a bit easy this time around. I’d go with cold showers as that really is just both answer 1 and answer 2 put together. You can take the cold showers as long as you can and if you can’t you just stink it out until you can’t stand it then go back to the showers. A good mixture of both.

For me though I’d be in that shower daily but I’d be as efficient as possible. Nothing can gets your heart pumping and motivates you like that first blast of frost-bite on your poor defenseless body. I’ve also done this type of thing and can relate that once you numb enough the rest of the shower isn’t that bad, not one I’d want to relax in but manageable.

-----

Yay, looking forward to LBPV when it comes out and it is sad that we have to wait a week for it in the Americas but I’m not too upset. I won’t be first out of the gate on the create side so whether I got it day one or month one it may not make too much of a difference.

I’m also looking forward to Tearaway from MM but I’m sure it’ll be at least another podcast before I get to hear ya’lls reaction to that. That and a lot of the new games and announcements that have come out of Gamescon. Should be fun to get your take on it.

Good one as usual. Funnily enough I went to see 'Brave' today! I remember the day Pixar went over to Disney. I worried about their influence on Pixar... boy was I right to be concerned. What a steaming pile of cliche's this film was and what dull premise too. Wall-e was a masterpiece with subtle references throughout. A rubic's cube and a plastic spoon where a perfect example of this; noting the 'here today gone tomorrow desposability of the 21st century', but Brave had NOTHING. Oh a river, what will happen? slip (chuckles from the kids). Oh a brawl, what will happen? Bang, a momentarily, dumb founded face followed by a slight wobble and slip below the camera (chuckles from the kids)2012-08-16 19:10:00

The show was just awesome! It was really fun to hear all those experiences from Michael. And it was also very funny at times. Sometimes it was kinda hard to understand LamboLover with his mic, but that was the only small problem.
Surely you guys just got a new listener! Can't wait for the next episode and hear what can you say about all the most recent exciting news like Tearaway and the Cross-Play DLC.

@Trindall: I'm glad to hear that you liked that this episode was getting back to our pre-summer format

I could talk about LBP Survivor for an entire podcast, and on episode 26 Tom and I were certainly needing to restrain ourselves because we had multiple points in the agenda where we had things we wanted to talk about regarding survivor, but we ended up skipping a lot of it since I think it is only interesting to a small portion of the listeners.

As for Smurfetta, we would LOVE to have her on, and I have even talked to her about it, but she is not interested. But if she ever changes her mind then we will have her on for sure! We did have Amanda (Puttatittut) from the Weekly Planetarium team on episode 26 which should be coming out mid next week so you will get to hear from a Weekly Planetarium writer :-D

The whole origin story bit went over incredibly well this time with ConfusedKartman. I'm not sure how much of that stuff Tom already knew (I know that he knew some of it from talking to Michael at the GameJam), but from the perspective of someone who none of it it was fascinating! I thought that LamboLover was the perfect compliment to it because he was so brief in his description that it added a lot of humor LamboLover has done a lot, I think he may just be a bit too humble

Woo-hoo! Another Tangled fan :-D

Thanks for the feedback Trindall!

@GribbleGrunger: Kids movies normally tend to frustrating me (except for pre-Cars2 Pixar and your occasional Disney movie. Even stuff like Despicable Me doesn't really work for me). My little sister, who is now 5, LOVES crappy Barbie movies with terrible animation and just stupid scenarios. So perhaps Brave is heading in the right direction for that audience (though the animation as still great).

@yugnar: It's great to hear that you enjoyed the podcast It was a special treat to have Michael (ConfusedKartman) on along with LamboLover. We are going to do our best not to repeat the mistake of having a guest with a poor quality mic on again in the future if we can help it.

And good news! Episode 26 is recorded (but not available yet) and we do cover Tear Away at many points throughout the podcast. We don't discuss Cross-play though

Man, I hate replying after Trindall. My post will look tiny in comparison. Easy question for the guest this week :/ Hot dogs or Hamburgers? Hamburgers for sure, though I don't like all the extra condiments on my burger. I just like cheese, tomato, pickle, lettuce, ketchup and mustard. A lot of people here like mayonnaise on their burgers and I just find that, ugh.

AFP, my PS3 is the 60GB as well and I'm the same way. Was kinda like that when I got a PC with a 20GB hard drive. Oh man, I'll never fill this up. I've had to remove several PS3 games to make room for more. I keep saying I'm going to put a bigger drive in my PS3 but it's so old I don't know. Oh, my current PC has a much, much bigger HD. I remember my first PC had a 405MB, that's Mega not Giga. Then I saved up my extra change and upgraded to a 2.3 GB HD for a mere $250. Shoot, now you can pick up a 1.5TB drive for a little over a hundred. Whoa, way off course here.

I agree, you need to have Smurfetta on. Smurf, c'mon, no one would be more nervous than I was. Bite the bullet and do it. Do eet! Man, if you can have Smurfetta on, I would love to be back on for that show. I start back to work tomorrow though, so I wouldn't be able to do a weekday record special Saturday record? Come on Kristin, me and you on the PMP same show.

Survivor Hey, I did get to make a flag though and mine was done in Photoshop as well.

hey, thanks for the mention. I heard you say Tom like 20 times so I naturally assume that you were secretly talking to me

I really enjoyed the back story that Michael (confused(K)artman) gave. Really interesting. Lambo was a great guest too.
man, we need all those bleeped out comments from Michael.

would you rather question.
I'd have to go with the cold shower. Even though I despise cold showers, I'd rather that than not bath for a month.

Tom! Camping, you're doing it wrong. Showers? Oh wait, your "camping" is in a big camper with full amenities. I say this because I'm a primitive camper. My "shower" is jumping in the lake at the end of the day and sleeping in a tent, waking up early in the morning and catching your breakfast. Yeah. Actually, I don't go full primitive because I like to make sure there are good restrooms nearby. I've gone "caca" in the woods and don't necessarily enjoy it.

Just finished the PMP and this was great show. Another set of great guest and very enjoyable to listen to. Thanks for doing these. Awesome.

It would appear that everyone who listens to PocketMoonPodcast prefers burgers I am a bit odd in that it seems the older I get, the more I like to have on my burger. I used to be all about just having cheese and ketchup, but I have been adding things over the years, the most recent addition being pickles in the last few months, and now I want the works and anything else I can find to throw in it :-P

It's good to hear that I am not the only person who has experienced the awe of a 60Gb HD just to find that it isn't enough a few years later. I had to delete my MGS4 save recently to make room for the Journey demo.

I think that it may be harder to get Smurfetta on than it would be to record on a weekend (and it can be pretty hard to record on a weekend). But perhaps things will change. I know that we would love to have her on!

I am still bummed that you got voted off because of our extreme lack of organization in Immunity Challenge #1

LOL, as I said, not much chance you will find out what those bleeped out bits are unless you get Michael to tell you since we won't be repeating them. Well... actually, I did repeat on on episode 26 (which isn't out yet), but I am confident that it will either be cut from the podcast or bleeped.

WOO-HOO! A fellow primitive camper :-) Well, it would appear that you have me beat because we always cook using pie irons over the fire instead of catching our dinner. However, we always go with the non-electric tent sites so we keep it pretty primitive

I think I'm going to join the chorus of hamburger supporters. Living a few blocks from Portillo's I can honestly say that their cheddar cheese burgers are heavenly. Truth be told I very rarely get a hotdog from there. Not because they are not great but I love so many other things they serve like the beef and cheddar croissant, their ribs and of course their freakishly moist chocolate cake that puts most bakeries to shame.

I enjoyed the episode and thought you and your guests had great chemistry. Keep em coming guys =)

I was so focused on hot dogs at Portillo's that I didn't even realize that they had burgers I will have to make sure to try them next time I am in Chicago.

I had some freakishly moist Chocolate cake, but that was because it was in my shake

I'm glad that you enjoyed the podcast!
