Community Contest - Win $10 PSN Card

Archive: 27 posts

I just published my entry that I made awhile back for the LBP Community Mashup and thought I would hold a little community contest if enough people were interested. I’ll be giving away a $10 PSN Card to the sack with the most points after the level reaches 100 plays or October 1st, 2012. The room might be a little hard or even annoying for some, but there are lots of points to be had if you look close enough, react fast enough and stay away from danger… Good luck.

I have two quick questions. First how will the winner recieve the points cards and second what happens if it doesn't get 200 plays(let's say in a year from now it only gets 93) does no one win or do you jut give to the Highest score over a set period I time.2012-08-14 01:33:00

I'll keep trying. I fondly recall this room in the mashup but sadly had to do the L1 R1 trick to skip it. I did complete it this way though, but with a way low score. I'll be back for more punishment. a couple of those point grabs are downright fiendish!2012-08-14 03:18:00

Great questions. I was thinking about the same things before I published it.

For the payout, I was hoping to contact the winner via a private PSN message and obtain their address and then send them the card via snail mail. If the winner was opposed to giving me their address, then I would be open to using Paypal or another method of payment within reason.

if the level is not getting enough plays in the next month, then I’ll revise the parameters. I’ll most likely adjust the plays down to 100 or less and/or possibly end it by November of this year. This would allow me to start anther contest and possibly make this a reoccurring event if there is enough interest.

you could just scratch off the silver stuff and PM the winner the code
Well, I thought I had this. I posted an awesome high score but it seems that supmike has toppled me. I don't know what else I could be missing. I aced it, collected, I thought, all the jewels and score bubbles. back to the drawing board.

Great idea BIO. I’ll PM the winner the # on the card. I never thought of that, but then again I never use PSN cards either. Now what do I do if the winner isn’t from North America? Are the cards region specific?2012-08-14 19:36:00

Man I thought I was doing good with 30,000. Time to step up my game. I doubt I'll beat 90,249. Man I wonder who that skilled sack, jester946, who got the score is. (that last bit was sarcasm btw)2012-08-14 23:55:00

Let me be the first to say that you sacks are putting up some unbelievable scores and effort.

I’m thinking of maybe doing one of these community contests every other month now and instead of using a play count to determine the end, I think I'll just run them for 30 days before determining the winner.

Cards are region specific.

An alt account for the US can be registered in a few minutes if it is needed.

That's a great idea. I have a question though. Will each month get a different genre. Or will they all be Death-Room Death thingies. I wouldn't mind doing some races or survival levels. And while I'm suggestioning things, the next contest should give prizes to first, second and third place. Like maybe1st gets20$ 2nd gets 10$ and 3rd gets XP. If you don't have that kinda money you could give XP to second too.

Anyways those are my suggestions. But I'd just lik you to know I'm having alot of fun doing this contest so you should keep these coming (please). Oh and you might want to come up with a logo/title for the contests if you want to do more. That way it'll be more reginizable and memorable.

I would mix the contests up for sure and learn as I go. In fact I would be open to a complete opposite idea such as collecting butterflies and hearts and riding in a hot air balloon. I do love the community and would love to give out more money for a prize, but since it’s out of my own pocket, I’ll have to limit it to $10 for now. If the XP you mention is the site specific points, then I have no control over that. I posted this contest on Central and Planetarium as those are the two sites I frequent most. The contest logo idea is a great one and is a must have if this is going to be a reoccurring event like I’m thinking. I also should probably create a separate account/planet for it as well.2012-08-16 17:42:00

Since I think XP is site specific you could give out maybe a custom logic pack to the top 3 winners along with 1st place getting cash.

Thanks to everyone who has played and shared their ideas so far. I have learned a few things from my first community contest attempt and I?ll do a few things differently as I move forward.

The first thing I think I?ll do is remove the play factor and give it a strict 60 day timeline. This way it's simple for me to just pull up the scoreboard on day 61 and see who has the high score. I would also like to create a new account just for the contest and see if anyone else has interest in contributing to the contest as it moves forward. I?m open to letting others create levels for the score challenge and/or contributing to the prize pool. I still like the idea of giving out a $10 PSN card to the winner because I think it ups the ante just a little bit and it doesn?t destroy my bank account or **** my wife off. I don't currently have plans for 2nd and 3rd place, but that could be XP if I can get enough to hand out.

Does anyone have any good ideas for the contest/account name? Are there any other ideas you have to make the contest better going forward?

Here is the current Leaderboard:

2/3 weeks over and the conest is still running because there are only 63 plays...

It will take months before the level gets 200. No offense.

Why not setting it to 100 plays? Then we will need to wait only 2 weeks instead of months. Just sayin... c:

I want to know how Schark beat my score? Seriously dude. I've been over it and over it and don't see how, not by that margin.2012-08-31 16:51:00

I probably will change this one to 100 plays or end it 10/1/12. I was holding off because I didn't want anyone to see that I edited the level after 1st publish and think I added more points.

Guess I need to start working on the next one soon...

I'm not familiar with Canada cards. I assumed US where I'm from and Canada would fall under North America and use same cards. I'll have to look into that further. If you won and I couldn't get you a PSN card code, then I would be open to paying you by another method such as Paypal or snail mail.

The contest is officially over and schark6000 (http://lbp.me/u/Schark6000) is the winner.

I’m sorry to all those who came up short, but I’ll be doing this again.
