Yeah, people still play. The server list is packed with Day Z stuff for now. I would recommend the JSRS sound mod since the stock sounds aren't great. It really enhances the game.

excellent. I think i'd like to play the non-dayZ bit first, though. also, is it solely multiplayer? kinda would like to get used to the controls before i get gankified.

To me it's more a singleplayer game if anything. There are singleplayer missions and scenarios, but the map editor is the most fun. There are some tutorials under the Boot Camp menu for the controls and stuff.

Though DayZ really is the best thing to come out of Arma. I've owned Arma 2 for a good while now and i couldn't really get into it much. I even lost my disc copy and didn't notice. Had to re-buy it for DayZ, which is one of the best things to happen to PC gaming this year.

DayZ is definitely interesting, but it'd be much better if i had a group to play with. the whole lone wolf thing doesn't tend to work out well....
