Tarsier, Is LBPVita Made Of Stretchy Material?

Archive: 11 posts

Simple one really and something that only Tarsier can answer. When LBP2 was released it ran like a dream, but as people pushed harder at the engine and used various techniques to cram more detail into their levels, the lag set in and got progressively worse. Some people where cleverer (hate that word) than others and managed to cut that lag down a little...

Has LBPVita been designed with more headroom or to put it another way, is LBPvita made of stretchy material?

LBPV is made of flubber. Obviously Tarsier programmed things to be as tolerate of abuse as humanly possible. This is a really odd question...but if a Tarsier employee chimes in to answer in the negative I will eat my shoe.2012-08-10 19:36:00

I imagine much of the issues encountered in LBP2 were due to the constant patching of LBP1 bugs, patches which causes issues in LBP2, and then needed to be further patched.

That sort of fix is far from ideal.

Since LBPV was started from scratch, and afaik, wasn't rushed, I imagine many of the issues should be ironed out, and it should run smoothly.

Did anyone in the beta actually stress test the engine? Lots of logic, lots of moving platforms, decoration, stickers materials... that sort of thing? I would have done that straight away. I did ask someone to put all the materials available in one level and then dephysicalise them. It cut the thermo down by half.

and I suppose you could argue that making the emit/destroy technique easier is a way of offering more headroom.

Why does it matter? Thinking of not buying it if it can't pump out 3 million lit/textured polys at 60 fps? You do know the Vita isn't a PS3 right? I can tell you from the beta that the water looked pretty bad compared to LBP2, low poly count, etc. If its the same in the release build it's clearly an effort to free up resources. Don't expect miracles from a hand held device, just be happy if the game is released free of any major bugs and learn to budget the available resources as best you can.2012-08-11 05:51:00

lbpv is basically a lbp2 with a TINY bit of psp + own tools. graphics doesn't matter and who uses water anymore on lbp?

Why does it matter?

It would be nice to think that there is a lot of room for expansion with DLC.

Thinking of not buying it if it can't pump out 3 million lit/textured polys at 60 fps?

No, I'm still buying it. Why would you assume that?

You do know the Vita isn't a PS3 right?

No, I'm a total idiot and really believed that the Vita was a PS3. You're quite aggressive aren't you.

I don't think anyone is dumb enough to think the Vita version will look as good as the PS3 version but from what I've seen, It's pretty close.

I don't believe in miracles.

I think you should call yourself Fullofwinge lol

I know u will buyit, that is why it doesn't matter.

Yes, water is fine, just want to show a case where hw diff was noticeable. Water is important for visuals as only non glitch infinite plane if nothing else.

Room for DLC? Not how things work, don't need to concern yourself.

* Typed from Vita.

LOL. I didn't think it would take you long to reply to that.

I'm just playing, hope you don't take that too personally. It's just something I consider with everything I buy. I intend on dedicating every moment I have to this game for the foreseeable future and just want the assurance that it will run smoothly regardless of how much is thrown at it. If it was being pushed to the limit straight out of the gate, then it wouldn't auger well for the future.

like you say a vita is not a ps3. but sony just giving lots of love for it with it's own exclusive from a ps3 but different like uncharted and wipeout 2048 for example. wipeout 2048 had it's own stages + all ps3 dlc stages with crossplay. uncharted had touch controls for things like rubbing, sunlight, sniping, combat, and ect. you know that they would do the same of a ps3 title but make it better with lbpv. also vita haves it owns exlusive for itself like gravity rush and army corps for example.

anyway lbpv is going to work like any of the ps3 lbp games. great amount of dlc coming up, great lbp levels. team picks, and everything ps3 lbp haves to offer to vita like transport ps3 costumes to vita.
