Fountain of Youth >>mini-game<<

Archive: 7 posts

I posted this up in ideas awhile ago, because it was all designed around a new technique involving stationary paintball emitters that allow you to walk on paintball platforms.

It's basically a water fountain, that emits a stream of paintballs and point bubbles. You have to basically take either side of the fountain and jump to the corners to obtain points and survive/avoid ringing out as long as you can. You can sink if you remain stationary too long, and the point areas are especially dangerous, so you must stay on and off the area in a constant jumping motion to avoid falling below. There's 3 high scores of 1 million points, so good luck.

P.S. Just an FYI, since it is a fountain of youth, the tree is supposed to symbolize Yggdrasil the ash tree of Norse mythology that extends it's branches unto the heavens. I guess that makes it a False Idols bonus game lol

Hey man. I played this the other day when I saw you publish it. The water effect you created is completely original and unlike anything else I have ever seen before. The architecture of your fountain is truly stunning and beautiful. The lighting you put in there is just the icing on the cake. I also appreciate the description of what your tree symbolizes and I wish more creators took the time to explain some of the inspirations/influences behind their levels. This is a fun mini-game that is a pleasure to look at so everyone should check it out. 5 stars and hearted, keep up the great work!2009-01-10 08:09:00

Nice little level! The paintballs and bubbles make for a very nice water effect and the surface of the fountain looks like it's foaming. The tree/fountain is very beautiful and artfully done. You certainly have a knack for coming up with fresh concepts. The only downside is that there isn't really much to keeping up there, and it gets a little boring after a while (luckily there is a nice tree/fountain to look at). 4 stars/heart

I'm the 4th person to get a million points, yay! Excellent job, maybe you could use that concept in a full length level somewhere.

Ha, I just saw that actually, good job. I admit it does get old after awhile... I wish I could think of a way to change it up as time goes on like the MM mini-games... like make the water more turbulent, or throw out some lethal objects, but I'm drawing a blank. I tried setting the plate underneath to a piston, but any timed movements would disrupt the paint and make it all disappear under my feet.

I have the tree saved separately without paint, and I'd like to use it in something else, as a center piece fixture or something, but I can't do anything else with it if it's running the paint emitters - each one takes like 7% of the thermometer.

Thanks for playing, man.

Yeah Ninja your architecture/art on this mini-game is amazing. It was like nothing I've ever seen before. I especially like how you had the background statue poking out its head just above the top of the tree, was a nice little effect

5 stars/hearted. Just really really cool.

Hi NinjaMicWZ,

I take a look to your minigame yesterday.
I found your fountain extraordinary. Very clever use of emitters and bubbles points.
It is good for the eyes
