[HELP] How much space does a LBP Vita level uses?

Archive: 27 posts

I've been wondering about that since... the morning.
Anyway, this is kinda a pretty serious question (at least for me):
How much space does an average LBP Vita level needs? Whether in your Moon or on your downloaded levels, did anyone checked about it?
I'm planning on buying LBPVita, but for that I obviously need to buy the Vita. But also LBPKarting is coming on Nov. 6th; so I need to get some money pretty fast.
Anyway, I'm planning on buying the Vita with no extra memory cards (the smallest one -4GB- costs $20! Holy cow!) but I'm not sure how many levels can I store in the Vita's original Memory (I think it has 512 MB). Does any of the Beta testers know how much space does an average Vita downloaded level needs?
I am planning on buying the Vita just like this because:
1.- It saves me money. Duh. Probably I'll buy a memory card when I have more.
2.- I think there is enough space in 512MB to play some non-downloaded but physic-card games (for example, the non-downloadable version of Wipeout 2048 needs 8MB; and Uncharted: Golden Abyss needs 64MB; or at least that is what they tell you in the box).
Mmmm... As I'm writing this I'm having 2 more doubts:
1.-For example, the 64MB required for Uncharted does truly include all your saving-progress; trophies, etc.?
2.-Now that I think about it... Does all the stuff included in the Vita occupies some space from the 512MB available space? What about the Facebook app? Even if it is free for download, how much space would it need? Or is it included in the console?

Now that I think about it, a 4GB card is almost a must-have along with the Vita. My only option seems to be to win the LittleBigProgressive contest. lolz. Forget it.

And, a final doubt... How much space do you think LBPVita will require (in the "disc" version)?

A 4GB memory card is just too small regardless. I have a 16GB and still don't think it's big enough. I know you can use your PS3 to store Vita data, so that could be one way of getting around memory problems. I haven't tried it myself so I'm not sure how it works...

First of all,Do not buy a vita without a memory card,It will just be torture,Some games will request a memory card regardless from the space you have left on your vita,I think most of the apps from the psn request a memory card (not sure about that)
But let's just say that the size of LBP levels are probably gonna be your last concern,First off all you don't need to download levels,You can play them just like your can in PS3,So you probably only gonna download your favorites... In the psp version you can't play the levels online you have to download them,I have a lot of downloaded levels and i used to download a lot,i don't think it took any space...
but the vita version obviously will take more space with it levels,if i would have to guess, i would say levels take about 1-5 mb : But I'm not sure... Also if you dont buy a card you wont be able to store songs, photos, videos, and other stuff...Anyway,You should buy an 8/16/32 GB memory card (i think that 16 is the ideal size, but you may want more...)
Also i would recommend you checking out if LBPV does not require a memory card...

I think you'll still be able to play LBPvita without a memory card. It will probably save progress and Trophies to the game card. And playing levels online won't take up any space whatsoever. But if you want to create levels or download level, you are going to need a memory card2012-08-09 01:46:00

4 GB works for me. I got it at Game Stop for $15. You have to request it preowned though. But it works like a charm. I have apps, minis, demos, games, and save data. I still have like a GB of space left. It works great if you don't want to purchase a lot of digital games.2012-08-09 01:47:00

4g is not enough if you want to download a vita game. later in the future with lots of updates. you wouldn't be able to download. psp took alot over the years i think...

you basically need a memory card for any game. it doesn't have it's own storage. anygame have atleast lots of kb or few mb for the gamecard to work.

Hello.

Some PS Vita games needs memory card to work.

LBP Vita is the game of such kind too.

Look at official box art and you will find notification that "Game requires PS Vita memory card":

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7214/7262096140_165acdffc0_o.jpg

(for better look open image separately and zoom it )

So all we need some PS Vita memory card for play this game.

I had 4 GB card and could not keep all my game on it (Uncharted only occupy about 3.5 Gb), so I bought 16 Gb card and right now have all my PS vita games always with me at any place

Form Russia with love,

Creating your own levels, DLC and probably downloading Apps from the community... I'd say no where near enough

Off-course! But come on,Are you saying you'll never put anything on your vita? Music, apps from PSN,a really cool game that comes out...If your sure LBP will be your only purchase,Then ya,4 GB is more then enough.

What?! You really think that LBP plus all of its "stuff" will take more then 4GB? NO!
The game will be around 2-3 GB ,Right? And the downloaded levels and created levels would take what? 2-10 MB for each ? He should have plenty of space for the game, and the DLC's...

Mmmm... I guess I'll have to buy a memory card then. Thanks for all of your replies guys!
I had a PSP Go, and the 16GB memory card it included was just perfect. But as PSVita games are twice as heavy, probably the only true great card is the $100 32GB card. I think I'll buy a 8GB card for now, and then upgrade to another when I have some money. Also I've got my PS3, so I think I'll be fine with that.
Grrrr.... If only the PSVita used normal SD cards... Oh well.

Lol I thought this thread was dead... Anyway. Yeah, I'd love to get the downloadable version, but since I've only got a 4GB card it would not be very convenient.2012-09-06 04:59:00

If your sure your never gonna get anything else,Go on 8 or 4,16 is way to much for only LBP,I have like 5 games right now from the PSN with a 16 GB card and i still have 7GB free...If your getting 16 you'll have plenty of space for photos music a few PSN games and lots of game cards...

Yeah 4GB is too small IMO. You have to look at it as an investment. It's all well and good people telling you that 4GB is enough, but just like people thought that 180GB was enough on the PS3, over time it becomes apparent that you should have bought bigger. The bigger the better mate. I've got a 16GB memory card and plan on getting a 32GB memory card as soon as I can afford it.2012-09-06 08:52:00

And to be honest, i dont want to throw out 40$ on a 8GB. Its kinda expensive. I can buy another LBPV copy with those money.2012-09-06 14:55:00

4GB is not enough IMO ONLY if your planning or playingusing your vita for other stuffgames.
For LBP it should be alright and LBP only it should be alright.

Well, the only downloadable game i have is Sound Shapes. It took like 1GB. So i have 3GB left. And i have 4 physical games and i still have them installed on my Vita, dosent seem to take very much. But im thinking, what about DLC costumes for LBP Vita?2012-09-06 15:29:00

I don't see why should DLC's weigh more then normal costumes you earn through the game...

Is LBPV's Digital version going to be able to fit a 4GB Memory Card, along with some future DLCs and Level data? Thanks!

TarsierStudios:

Yep, should be no problem.

I did edit it. I thought it was the thread asking whether you are going to buy the digital version or the retail version. I'm unsure which to buy and I didn't want to derail this thread... I must have edited it quickly enough for it not to register
