I Need Help With Some Logic

Archive: 6 posts

I'm creating a platformer and I'm trying to make a boss battle where there is a giant wall that only disappears after defeating the boss (a sackbot). Except I can't figure out how to make the wall disappear after the boss is killed, is this even possible? If so, how can I do this?2012-08-02 13:44:00

Simplest way would be to place a tag on the boss with the name 'boss' or something of that nature. Then, place a tag sensor on the wall you'd like to disappear connected to a destroyer. Set the tag sensor to detect the 'boss' tag and invert the output. This way, when the boss is killed the tag will disappear, triggering the destroyer to make the wall disappear.2012-08-02 14:06:00

Mopkins has got you covered!

I'm having fun avoiding my job responsibilities by doing LBP2 "Help!" diagrams, so here's a visual of what he said:

As the diagram shows, you'll want to set the detection radius for the tag sensor very high, so that no matter where the sackbot goes, the tag sensor is detecting it. When the sackbot dies/disappears, the tag goes "oh! there's no more sackbot" and destroys the wall immediately.

If you want to get fancy, attach the tag sensor to a movie camera(don't put the movie camera on the wall, though) so that when the sackbot dies it triggers a little cutscene that delays the time between the sackbot death and the wall explosion (can also be achieved with timers, etc.).

Good luck!

This is always a good idea. But I would recommend using a Sequencer to achieve this effect rather than timers. Not that timer's won't work, I just think it's easier and cleaner with sequencers. IMO.
