The good, old times...

Archive: 41 posts

I just woke up today and had that strange feeling of nostalgia. I just miss the old good times, when people were breaking their heads to create something new. The times where levels were made with great ideas, unique story and gameplay. Now people create mostly platformers with no story or they keep using the same style. I'm not saying that they are bad, not trying to offend anyone, but I'm a bit tired of playing platformers that are made only from obstacles. They are fun, but can get boring after time and make me be like: Meh...

Of course there are some levels that are really good and fun to play, but there's not much of them as it used to be before. Levels like the ?Cave Escape?, ?Steam?, ?Patchin' Yo Patchwork?, ?Crisis?, ?Geared Up? or ?The Tear Garden? will always stay in my memory. Those were just some random examples and I'm going to play them all again. C:

Do you get the same feeling? Tell me your thoughts.

I've played some levels by doggy97, and I had to admit that those were the best PSP levels I had played so far (I hadn't played yours yet ). They looked fantastic and played the same. I've got that strange, nostalgic feeling as well. I just want to go back to LBP1 and play the Gardens levels to fulfill that feeling. Thanks for mentioning these feelings! Actually ... Yes. I'm not tired of playing platformer-platformers (Deeeeeerp. :S) but I long for a level like Teh Sky Isles of Oneiros. With eye-popping visuals and a freaking awesome bawz at the end. (That said, Seek still owes me a Dr. Voodoo bawz battle.)
Or a very humorous one like the ones by Fastbro and Taffey. (I admit, they stay funny but I laughed out loud at my first playtrough.) I wish I could go back in time, just to discover them again. C:

The only good levels these days is from you guys, me, unc92sax,woodburry, and few others i know of in lbpc. most rated and hearted stays the same, cool pages just plain suck with hotels and other stuff. no creativity there.featured players never worked at all. no new news for years... yep. just you guys make me look at psp again...2012-08-01 21:52:00

Your obviously just look at the first pages, when you dig deeper, you actually find more 'recent' levels.

POTSS, Crisis, Steam, ... Al located around pages 6,7,8, ... (Last time I checked.)
Heck, some of spark's newer levels even made it to 4 and 5.
I also saw Cave Escape on page 50 but that was last year, it probably moved up by now.

I personally have been around lbp psp for some time. Really since 2010, which was a great year of levels. I remember when I first played the Star Bores Saga. I was like "How in the world do people create like that!" I actually thought Taffey worked for MM for a while. lol. Around the end of 2011 I tried to create some good stuff. But PSP was mostly dead. I wish I would have started creating earlier. I would have had way more experience.2012-08-02 05:26:00

I have too got bit tired of platformers these days. I loved the levels that were created back in the good old times because they were unique and awesome. I usually try to create something new story and gameplay for my levels, like my newest level what i am working on, it will be a bit different than my other levels and awesome! 2012-08-02 15:17:00

I think that most of us wish for an earlier start.

I got the game at 2009. BUT it was a christmas present. *DUN DUN DUUUNNN* you guys would know that im a huge fan of lbp so i would pre order the games but not with this one. the only level i remember that i made in early 2010 was retro world. 1st page of cool pages (when they didn't suck so much these days) it was also retro history. 1st retro level ever on psp. I loved creating that level so much that sometimes i plan to create a sequel and better too but idk. the first was tough enough with the background turning more blue and my popit placement disappeared...2012-08-02 17:53:00

Pardon me for interrupting but I am fairly sure that at least half of you weren't even here for the glory days. Instead of whining why don't some of you go out and create some new gameplay types? I've created at least three on my own, however I couldn't release a few of them because of my PSP breaking. I've seen games come out like woody's 3d racerand nys's low gravity platformer that established new elements of gameplay not seen on the PSP before.

By the way, would any of you like to have my old profile? I would rather the community have it instead of it rotting on my computer. It has all of my published levels on my moon, and there a couple levels I didn't publish or finish that have interesting and unique gameplay types.

Regarding the same subject, if you have problems reading my name Schark, just press the expand button in my sigpic.
Sillyness aside, I'll have to check the Highest rated pages again, it seems that stuff has changed by now.

wait. if you said " Instead of whining why don't some of you go out and create some new gameplay types? " then why don't you create new ones too instead of giving the profile? now where is the fun of that? im sorry but i wouldn't let go of that profile if i was you. there is a good chance they will just leave it rotten or destroy your levels or publish trashy levels. BUT idk on what you mean by "have my old profile" since im not a hacker in anyway.

He can't finish his work since his PSP broke some time ago. He asked me if I could finish one of his levels and I agreed.

Ah man, I've been here so long I forgot about all the good old levels, and after reading this I'm going to have to go back and play them. But I don't think it's new ways to play that are needed, just inventive and original types of gameplay

Oh and the highest rated pages are stupid because my levels aren't there

Instead of ranting like I have in the past, this time I shall keep my cool and disregard all of this.

oh. now i feel guilty...

You better... punk!

Since you have been either living under a rock, or your eye vision is also failing along with schark's ( ) and you cannot read my sig, you would have noticd that my PSP has broken past repair, and I have left. I'm leaving my profile in the hands of Schark as I trust him and his skills, and when he has finished with whatever he feels like doing to my unfinished level, I will upload it somewhere for anyone to peek into my levels, and really do whatever they want with them. I really don't care if someone just steals my levels and publishes them. I feel like some people and/or some beginners may enjoy looking through my levels in edit mode to see how certain gameplay types and logic work and can be made. I have a lot of original ideas, complex logic setups, gameplay types, and by far the most advanced and funtional control box out there. I feel like this could benefit the community, so I just feel like giving it away as a present to the overall community that has given me so much over the years that I've been here. Honestly it isn't that big of a deal and I don't know why I am still talking.

And by the way, I didn't mean that Schark was being whiny, I just felt like the mood of this thread was staring to feel whiny and moopy (if that is a word).

I think it's kinda sad how the artsy type of people never managed to make it to LBP PSP. The most artistic level I played on LBP PSP is doggy97's "Cave Town". No other level could come even close to the artistic style as that level.2012-08-09 15:44:00

I've said more than once I want to make a proper PSP level before LBPV comes out. I'm not planning to get a Vita, but with the release date little more than a month away, it's now or never
Wish me luck

I dare you to play "ZEN" by "Jeffcu28" and then type that again. :kz:
And not only ZEN, there are lots and lots of artistic levels out there.

all i can say is. i won't leave the psp side of lbp. there is always going to be a project i came up with. im sure i won't be on psp side much as vita. psp holds too many memories. mostly good and little bad. so sometime in the years i would come back and shine again for psp with a new level or series. (sackboy saves christmas 2? JK that's stupid. LOL) we can all now say what lbp2 and lbp1 had. lbpv haves the brains but lbppsp haves the heart.2012-08-14 04:58:00

Yes and the PSP has one major thinking all the other lbp titles are missing. Simplicity, it makes it very easy to just pick up and create.
