Random Questions

Archive: 4 posts

I have a few questions that have been bugging me since I got LittleBigPlanet for christmas. Can't seem to word what I'm looking for precisly enough to find the answers using the search function.
If I think I know what some thing means ill put it in green under the question, please let me know if I'm correct =P

1 - Is there any difference in using different size crators on the "create moon"?

2 - What does the little people in a speech bubble mean on levels?
The amount of people playing the level right now.

3 - Why don't the highscores update properly?

4 - How often are the stats on my levels that are published updated?
I have noticed that if you 'heartunheart' your level some times it updates plays etc...

5 - Is there a delete all function for community objectsstickersphotos?

6 - Why is it some times when I unglue a tree from a flat "user-created floor" all other trees glued to it get unglued?
Surely the others should remain stuck to the floor and only the tree i want should move? (Using tree as an example, can be any object).
Just had an idea, maybe its because I stuck the floor to the tree and not the other way round?

7 - What factors effect how levels get on the cool levels page?

8 - How does the 'newest levels' serach work?
Is it just the newest on page 1, and those previously get pushed further and further back? Some times I see a level on page 1 all the time...

9 - Does re-publishing your level make it "new" again?
If so couldn't this just be repeated and repeated for extra plays?

I think that's all for now. Hope some one can help with these little gripes. Cheers.

1 - Is there any difference in using different size crators on the "create moon"?
Absolutely None.

2 - What does the little people in a speech bubble mean on levels?
The amount of people playing the level right now. Yep!

3 - Why don't the highscores update properly?
Could be bad connection to server, level is being updated, too many people playing the level and trying to upload scores at the same time.

4 - How often are the stats on my levels that are published updated?
You will notice it change evry 10-15 mins, you can get more up to date info sometimes if you quit and restart or play through your level.

5 - Is there a delete all function for community objectsstickersphotos?
No.

Could be this, buut the whole gluing thing is buggy and behave irrationally

7 - What factors effect how levels get on the cool levels page?
From what I can tell its a combination of amount of plays and the star ratings it gets. The more stars the less plays you need.

8 - How does the 'newest levels' serach work?
Is it just the newest on page 1, and those previously get pushed further and further back? Some times I see a level on page 1 all the time...
This is someone constantly publishing their level. any time a level is published all other one get pushed back

9 - Does re-publishing your level make it "new" again?
If so couldn't this just be repeated and repeated for extra plays?
Yep, but noone is likely to play it if it recieves bad comments or low stars so you could be wasting your time if you have a low scoring level.

Hope this helps!

1 - No difference here (though MM planned it to be a difference, maybe that's why there's different sizes.)

2 - You're right. And I think it also counts those who selected "Play alone" (if they're online, of course)

3 - The servers have been really slow for a about a week now for some reason. It effects uploading highscores, playing online and even slows down create mode.

4 - Don't really know about this one, but it should be updated without delay. I think it's due to the servers being slow right now..

5 - Sadly, there isn't. I still hope the organization of community objects gets improved.

6 - There's is a bug called "Unglueing bug", which appears when you glue/unglue frequently. If it occurs, everthing in your level will become unglued. For me it works most of the time if I just rewind and unglue again.
Remember not to stay in pause-mode too long, so you don't get surprised when you unpause and everthing suddenly falls apart.
Also, when you unglue, be sure that you only select the tree (in your case) that you want to unglue. It happens that the game thinks that you selected the whole glued-together-object even if you just "clicked" on one tree. In that case, the whole object will get unglued. It usually works for me if I drag-select part of the object, instead of "clicking" on it.
I don't know 100% if the "order of glueing" matters at all, but I really think it doesn't.

7 - I don't have the slightest idea and I wonder if anyone else has (besides MM, of course). Before the 1.07 patch, Cool Levels and the normal text-search were the only ways to find levels. And it sucked. The algorythm for Cool Levels seems to be not really good. Hope it gets improved, but thank god they made that 1.07 patch.

8 - Again, don't know for sure, but I think it works like you described. The reason that one level is always on page one might be that the answer to your question #9 is yes.

9 - No idea, but I have read somewhere that it does. Though I don't know if the source was reliable. Might test this some time.

That's what I know, maybe someone else will answer what I'm not sure about.

Edit: Hm.. wexfordian beat me to it =o
