Minecraft development started around the 10th of May 2009, pre-orders for the full game started being accepted on the 13th of June. The game involves players creating and destroying various types of blocks in a three dimensional environment. They're harmless in daytime, though. Don't hit them! Zombies are slow, albeit dangerous. Kill them easily by hitting them, going back, and repeating. Ghasts are the **** your **** up kind of things. They float and fire fireballs at you, kill them by hitting the balls back at them. Oo.OO.oo.oO.oOoO It's annoying how rare rain and thunderstorms are in the minecraft world, so here's a way to force them to happen! Firstly, download NBTedit http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=7868 Launch the program and locate the world of your choice at: C:Users*Username*AppDataRoaming.minecraftsav es Open the world folder and select the level.dat inside. http://i.imgur.com/WQLcP.png You should be presented with this screen, simply change the values of raining or thundering from 0 to 1 to enable them. The rainTime and thunderTime values also affect how long the weather will last, setting them to something like 999999999 will make the weather almost permanent. Dig some caves and find a secret underground lake, build a mansion or a castle, maybe even an underground city! Some people go as far as creating huge landscapes with complex castles, villages and landmarks. | I've worked on 2 levels so far The first is DexIsland: http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?user=Dexiro&id=0 That includes a really cool mansion that took ages to make, and an unfinished tower in the distance. I wanted the tower to be like some superstructure looming over the island but i was apparently really near to the vertical limit already. DexWorld: http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?user=Dexiro&id=1 Is a much bigger level that i'm working on! I thought i'd start off with a nice floating cliffside village, and i'm thinking about branching off an underground city near to it. The floating houses are colour coded for some reason, and the rooms below water level are awesomecakes! The server is offline at the moment, i think if it's offline it switches you to single player and randomly generates a map When it's online you get a "Welcome to the LBPC server" message and when you go to the menu save/load are greyed out. | Ok, here's my experiences with this game. I got the game gifted to me, and play the indev a lot. I even have a blog about it (minelife.tumblr.com) that was featured on the developer's blog! (notch.tumblr.com). I see that oldage is quite active as well. People called griefers seem to always be on servers, but just ignore and ban them ans all is well. I like this game... more than... | After finding out Lava glowed I decided to be smart, build a roof made from Glass and put lava over it so it lights my house and looks epic. | I bought the game yesterday, played it last night (yes, with the lights off in my room). I'm loving it so far. My first map (and only atm) is a snowy themed map. I reached the ocean/sea on my fourth day, then I fell down a giant hole, with a entrance to what I think was a cave at the bottom. I didn't go into the cave, because I needed to get a way out of it first, so I have another method to get down there instead of jumping down and nearly killing myself. | Epic fail today. I was mining obsidian in this cave, and I had some weird glitches, with slime and spawning. ?There was two points where I quit MineCraft to watch some Youtube, because mining obsidian takes so long. Both times I spawned a block UNDER the block I was on. First time I spawned BURNING in lava, thank god I had my diamond pick equipped. Second time I spawned IN cobblestone. Could see where all the bedrock and lava was. Pretty cool. Then I moved and started to SUFFOCATE. Managed to dig my way out fairly quickly, even though I had no idea where I was. Phew. ?At this point I had 98 obsidian. I saw an opening up high and decided to investigate. When I jumped down, I landed in LAVA! Even though there was only two squares of it! I was all liek D: ?I managed to get out of that, to suddenly lag and run into MOAR lava, cept one problem. No blocks I could jump on! I panicked and started to put cobblestone, I wasnt realy that worried since I still had half my health. Put the final cobblestone under me and it..killed me. | The Halloween update kinda hindered the games performance. I mean, I like a little bit more intelligent AI than the next guy, but the mobs are getting too smart. | I always thought this was just creating stuff. I played Classic for a week but got bored-ish. I made a skyscraper with 2 other guys and it got deleted cause it was 1 square into the admins invisible property lines. Lol, people are touchy about these things. I've been watching a series of one guy's life in the game and it looks sweet. Hope it is still in Alpha next week that's when I'm buying it. Cuttin it close! | lol this game is awesome... I take it I missed everything in the halloween event? I shouldn't have been stingy! Oh my game so far is a hoot... My character started in the middle of a tundra biome I assume, it's all snowy and there's animals everywhere... so I did what any right minded person would do and slaughtered the animals. Suddenly, night was falling... I had made myself some picks and a sort of ... hoe? I don't know what it is. It doesn't seem to degrade... And I was looking around for shelter and saw a random hole in the ground and ...yes.. burrowed right into the hole like a rabbit and was safe. Then come morning I ran around and heard an explosion, I think it was one of the creepers. Then I think I saw one and was running away from him and trying to make holes in the ground so he'd get stuck but he jumped out!! Eventually he got bored and stopped chasing me Aha, I found coal! Apparently a little bit of coal makes a lot of torches! Then I decided to climb a mountain by digging a circular tunnel through it... my only prize was a bunch of mushrooms and now I'm in another hole for nightfall - BUT I have a hat and pants! I'm holding off on building a real shelter until I find some coal, I can't find anything! I also just made a shovel and discovered a temporary light source - cooking meat in a furnace... Creeper outside my door first morning I jumped down the mountain (right now still on 1.5 hearts lol) and there was a piece of sand smack dab in the middle of a lake. Just starting my second floor. To get a diamond pickaxe just dig down really far, and hopefully you will fall into a cave deep underground, then mine the diamond with an iron pickaxe or better. there also loads of redstone underground, and iron and coal and stuff. At least I have a compass now so I can explore freely withoout getting lost. I'm encountering a few places wheere lava spews out of mountainsides and burns up villages... that's pretty cool. | That stinks :o I just made a discovery - Time does not pass in the nether when you're in the normal world (and vice versa) ... items I lost to death a while ago were still there!
