What do you think is the hold-up with LBP Vita?

Archive: 32 posts

The beta is over and the game already looks really polished, so what gives? My biggest guess is they're still working on the Story levels and making goodies/objects/stickers. It's just interesting how they aren't close enough to giving an estimated time except for 2012.(when more than half the year is over)

Do you think the game is coming soon? What are your thoughts of the estimate getting delayed from April to June to Fall/Winter, even if Sony made up those dates?

I was pretty mad at first, but now I'm cool with waiting as long as the game is being heavily worked on. I also hope they market/advertise the game good!

Also, off-topic... anyone else think it would be awesome if UFG developed a Vita port after LBPK is released? It would be the perfect handheld game!

The game has yet to go gold yet (ie: disks have yet to be made)

ERGO: the game is still being made, polished, and overall being tooted upon by unicorns.

I wouldn't rush them. Let them work on making this the best lbp experience possible, and they have their reasons for why the game isn't finished.

It will be out this year, just don't rush them

I think its going to be released in September, cause thats what I read on LittleBigPlanet Wiki. Also, UFG already made a ModNation Racers game for Vita. Something else I'm excited for is the LBP2 Cross-Platform DLC kit.2012-07-26 20:23:00

There's a world-wide shortage of the purplish-blue dye needed to make the special limited edition Vitas to be shipped in the Vita+LBPV bundle. LBPV is 100% done, the Tarsier developers are just sitting around with their feet up on their desks waiting for the Peruvian Hooloovoo plant to grow another foot and a half so it can be harvested to create a blue Vita handheld. 2012-07-26 20:39:00

How long does it take to even make the disks and ship them out, though? I would imagine it wouldn't take any longer than a couple weeks.

Anyway yeah, even a guy at Mm said Tarsier is doing a better job with LBP than they did! So it should be very well worth the wait.

As soon as September? I really hope so. Well to be fair, UFG already made a MNR game for PS3 too. I just think it would be cool to have a Vita kart racer that has an online multiplayer feature, since MNR didn't deliver that. And YES! The LBP2 DLC kit will be sweeet, from seeing the demo at E3 the developers are working very hard on it.

Oh darn. Let's hope that plant doesn't die!

games that go gold generally come out a few months later. this has to do w/ legal and publishing as well as disk making. it takes a WHILE. a few weeks isn't really enough time. (it took lbp2 a month if i'm not mistaken)

Moved to [LBPV] Speculation and Suggestions.

The beta is over and the game already looks really polished, so what gives? My biggest guess is they're still working on the Story levels and making goodies/objects/stickers.I'd say that's a pretty good guess. Yes the game looks polished but that's just the part we've seen. There's a whole lot of game that wasn't in the beta, and I'm sure that's being worked on.

What are your thoughts of the estimate getting delayed from April to June to Fall/Winter, even if Sony made up those dates?I really don't understand why this keeps coming up, honestly. I don't mean to come across as snippy but it's just silliness. There were NEVER any official dates, therefore it cannot be stated that the game has been delayed. It just doesn't make any sense. Sony hasn't made anything up - it's everybody else besides Sony that are coming up with those. Rumors and guesses at best, lies at worst.

I'm cool with waiting as long as the game is being heavily worked on.Same here. I quite honestly cannot wait for this to come out. So long sleep! Bye-bye free time!

Also, off-topic... anyone else think it would be awesome if UFG developed a Vita port after LBPK is released? It would be the perfect handheld game!Agreed. Let's keep our fingers crossed for that.

Sony are asking for a bright, enthusiastic gamer to test out LBPVita levels in August... so make of that what you will

Sony seeks avid gamer to judge LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation Vita competition

The PlayStation Vita at GamesCom 2011 in Cologne, Germany

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) is seeking a gaming enthusiast to judge the best creations by the LittleBigPlanet community for PlayStation Vita in a Europe-wide competition.

The competition will ask fans of the LittleBigPlanet series to design mini games using the functionality of the PlayStation Vita in order to win an internship at Swedish studio Tarsier, the team behind the game.

But before they can choose an intern, Sony needs to find a passionate Irish gamer fit to judge the multitude of entries due in October. The winning candidate will assume the title of ‘chief portable entertainment efficacy director’ and be tasked with judging the games created by the LittleBigPlanet community.

For his or her trouble, the judge will be brought to PlayStation’s Dublin HQ and given a PlayStation Vita, as well as a day’s training in game testing.

The judge will then have to play through the entries submitted for the internship competition and let the development team know who they think is worthy of a chance to further develop and polish the mini game at Tarsier.

Candidates can apply online, where they’ll be asked to tell Sony in no more than 200 words why they think they should win this role. The most creative, humorous and unique answer will win.

Entrants must be aged 18 or over and the closing date for applications is 15 August.

Actually, they've got to be in by August. I've posted the article above. They're judging levels in October. Release date INCOMING folks!

Well,if the game was really ready and all that was left is the "legal" stuff, would they at least have a date? I think too that they are working on the story mode, and the sticker and prizes(because that's the only thing we didn't really see in the beta...) that is if the other theory isn't true...2012-07-27 04:59:00

A multitude of entries in October!! October it is then

One thing I did note about the LBPV Beta was the very few complaints. Occasional references to online problems and small glitches... but that's about it. IT'S READY

(capitals are what passes as excitement for me these days. multiple exclamation marks just don't cut it any more)

Thanks for that little bit of info Gribble! Gamescom is going to be very exciting, there's also several characters from All-Stars being revealed so... expect Sackboy to be one of them!

my prediction of it being release is before aug. 18.

Hmm, if the levels are going to be judged in October... and one of the mini-games will be picked then polished... and put on the final game... wouldn't the release date be after all of that? Correct me if I read it wrong. Just doesn't sound like it's coming that soon from what it says.

Unless this is purely a contest to see who makes the most awesome level, and it won't be put on the retail version of LBPV. Then I could see an earlier release as plausible.

Probably still trying to think up an effective way to handle the community aspect.

I am very interesting to see how that goes myself.

Hmmm... might be earlier than i thought :S

I just got an email from the psn as an advert for lbp vita.

It's a gamestop advert, but it dictates the price ($39.99)

but doesn't say the date (on the email)

if the price has already been settled, then that means that it shouldn't be too mush a ways off, right?

edit: hmmm intriguing... the site (gamestop) doesn't seem to have these numbers and info :S (though it could be that they just haven't updated yet... they still say it will be out april 12 of this year)

I can wait seeing as I am procrastinating at the investment of a Vita.

Hopefully they're learned from the LBP2 launch and QA'ing the hell out of this to get rid of all the bugs. Better for them to find and eradicate the bugs now then to release the game and find a fundamental flaw with a tool after half a million levels and a couple of expansion packs are already using it (a la the Level Link).2012-07-31 14:06:00

When i first joined the beta the multiplayer was really really bad for me (and i played with a lot of players to test it out) After a week or two it got much much better all of a sudden (i saw a lot of complaints for it in the beta forum)
So i guess they improved it...if it will remain like the beta left it,it should be pretty good and lag-free,of course the amount of players in beta isn't gonna be the same in full game,so i hope they are preparing a good server for us...

WOOO this thread is pointless now! We have a release date.

That is... unless you want to speculate why the game wasn't released earlier.

The game is coming out on 19 UK, 20 Japan, and 25 USA all of December. The game is now gold as of August 30th, and they are probably waiting to build suspence to make more people buy it, and just because they already promised their dates. I made a countdown: http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?msg=LBP%20vita%20USA%20national%20NOT%20on ly%20saint%20louis&fg1=80c2da&fg2=9acd79&p0=605&year=2012&month=9&day=25&hour=0&min=0&sec=02012-09-02 01:39:00
