Abyss - Jaeyden

Stop what your doing and PLAY THIS LEVEL NOW!!!

I know its in the showcase section (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=6703) but I thought it needs to be here as well. This is a seriously good level that needs a lot more attention than its getting. One of the best boss fights in any level and the concepts and design implementation are top notch.

Stop reading and go play!

EDIT its called "Abyss" not "the Abyss"

Hey, you know you can change the thread title aswell? Just double click the horizontal bar in which the thread is placed... Then type whatever you want.

Anyway, I'll check this level out later hopefully

this is the best underwater level that i have played, hands down. i wasn't able to complete this the first time I played it because I got interrupted, but i went back for a second try, and i almost NEVER do that with levels. The talking fish are awesome, the boss is STELLAR and the paintinator parts are not tacked on and actually work quite well (i've seen so many paintinator levels where that mechanic feels tacked on) ... so, kudos to you, this level is wonderful.2009-01-15 02:54:00

In a weird coincidence, I too played only a piece of this and got interrupted. I just now played through it again, and I was just completely blown away. The look was incredible. It'll be a hell of a challenge to ever top that underwater environment, but this entire level was stunning. Just epic. I love it when creators really go for ambitious ideas. I mean you start on a ship being attacked by a kraken on the high seas, it's tossing and tumbling, and you've got to activate a distress beacon, the chopper gets lost in the fog, you have to maneuver the light beam to light its way, and grab onto the rope ladder where you're carried off to your fate.

And all this in an UNDERWATER level. The real good stuff hasn't even begun yet.

I really wish I had some capture equipment, as I spent a good ten minutes with my girlfriend doing voice-overs for the talking fish and laughing our ***** clean off.

I love that you really have to work for the paintenator when you need it, and the jetpack. Full of clever concepts that are well utilized.
The boss battle really was epic, and am I wrong or did the checkpoint respawn each time I died? I think I love you forever for putting that in there. And when I lost my jetpack+glowing friend, it respawned too when I needed it. The level of technical polish is impressive.
Hearted the level and the author, and I'm planning on playing every one of your other levels soon. This is up there with the very very best I've seen in LBP to date.

The start of this map just blew me away, I've always wanted to see a type of Lovcraftian horror kinda theme, but never been man enough to attempt at making one meself.
This creator nails the idea on the boat (Although he lost me once the nano-crap started...)
The boss fight at the end was also massively impressive, as was the entire underwater portion... Amazing how long he managed to stretch out the thermometer on such a complex level...

There were however several glitches I noticed... During and after the bossight, its easy to stray away from the battle and run into some dead-zones you obviously were not meant to see...

Hey Jaeyden.
The thing I was talking about was during and around the final boss fight. With a free reign on the Jetpack, I was pretty much able to fly all the way back up to the surface. I found myself a few times being a little lost in a maze of invisible walls and at a couple of times saw timed switches in an antimatter box. I had the impression I was not supposed to be there ; )
It's not a game-breaking problem though since I was able to just fly back down again, but I thought you might want to try and find a way to keep the player from visiting said areas.

Ultimately, an awesome map. If only you would have chucked the nano-machine storyline for a proper Call of Cthulhu setting :3 That would have been even more awesome.

Looking forward to seeing more cool things from you brother.
