We did... brought the server to its knees to where nothing worked, massive timeouts and errors. We just don't have the horsepower to run a chat effectively. Though maybe if it were more like the one at Planetarium and limited to how many on there? ...not sure, but that might not work either. Mostly we have an issue because we have so many more members and just the normal activity takes quite a bit of horsepower.2012-07-23 16:20:00

I've seen the chat diverting conversation away from the forum and moderation issues cited as problems in the previous topics on this.2012-07-23 16:25:00

...and that too. Thanks, I had forgotten that point.

Another solution for this would be to create a Group dedicated to chat. Call it "The Chat Group". 2012-07-23 18:41:00

I know,that will be cool.

I have a few ideas or cool things that could be added.

When you leave the chat room it says how many hearts you gained.
An option to quote levels when somebody links them.

Well, I know that whenever I am in a chat, it takes all of a few minutes for me to go into territory not appropriate for an 7 and up site. So I don't think it'd be in this site's best interest to add a public chat, because in my experience they are unable to control.2012-08-02 19:25:00

Have you used the one on the planetarium? That works well, and it doesn't tend to "go into territory not suitable for a 7 and up site". I, for one, support this idea if we could make it work. If not... well, it'll just stay the sane here.

Chats... They would work well on LBPC if there was a mod online 24/7, but that wouldn't happen, and wouldn't be very fun. Chats naturally go off topic and as Rawk said, veer towards un-LBPC-friendly topics. When the mods are not on the Planetarium chat, it can get weird and off-topic fast (but I guess we wouldn't have to worry about Inan which would make the chat appropriate but boring).2012-08-03 02:02:00

Why not attach LBPC to a TeamSpeak server, you have microphone and text chat abilities, it also has everything you would need to keep it nice.2012-08-05 00:16:00

Forums chats are unneeded IMO. and i don't support LBPC having 1. just use twitter. tons of us LBP people hang out there. and it's nice because you get LBP players from everywhere. not just the people from this 1 forum. *mew2012-08-05 17:09:00
