El Guero's Duel of Dual Dimensions
Archive: 8 posts
What?! Interdimensional huh? But of course! Prepare to dilly about in this here level! By dilly I mean you must duel your way through these dual dimensions. Okay? Good! http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz63/xiv_mofo/APhoto_28.jpg Well what does that mean? Use button-labeled portals to traverse between the two dimensions to complete the level. Easy enough right? Ah yes! Another level in the books for El Guero! I have been messing around with the logic used is this level for a while now but have finally put it to use in a new level. While this logic is complicated enough for one player...how about four players! I'm not sure about how smooth it will play with all four players going at it at once...but give a go and let me know! While I have done my own testing/trouble shooting, please let me know if anything doesn?t work or can be improved upon. All feedback is welcome. Enjoy, and don't give up! Hm. I'll check it out. Planar-warping is something that isn't done too often. | 2012-07-22 19:23:00 Author: SLS10 Posts: 1129 |
this was pretty cool man. I loved the clever concept and I think you implemented it well. It does have a learning curve and takes just a little bit to get used to switching like that, but it is good. I had problems here. Took me forever to get past this area, but I finally prevailed. Outstanding job. http://i9.lbp.me/img/ft/e4906d9099d26880d56d8cecff5a7fcf3ac7206e.jpg | 2012-07-24 20:30:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |

I really have no clue why this level wasn't spotlighted as it was ten times more inventive and fun than several of the levels included in the spotlight proper. Actually, not just several levels but most of them. I feel like a tool for mentioning it, but it has a great difficulty curve. It gets progressively more challenging, which unfortunately isn't really that common in most levels anymore. There's lots of clever challenges that use physics that must've been a pain to work out. It's really great how the momentum is conserved between dimensions, and I'm probably a simpleton being impressed by something more simple that I'm making it out to be (tbh it's been a little while since I played it, so I don't exactly remember if you used emitters or in-out movers). The only part that I had an issue with was the last part biorogue mentioned because the timing seems a bit counter-intuitive. Really, the spotlight crew has made (several) mistakes in the past, but I think the fact that this was ignored in favor of some of the others (such as this (http://lbp.me/v/-v0ghb), this (http://lbp.me/v/c4zns3) and this (http://lbp.me/v/cv4tr3)) is nonsense. Apparently something being fun, inventive and polished levels doesn't really mean much to the crew sometimes. Worth much more than a pseudo spotlight, and it's a shame that it's not getting as many plays as it deserves. 42 / meaning of life bonner stars | 2012-09-09 04:48:00 Author: bonner123 Posts: 1487 |
This level is freakin' cool. You created a challenging and creative level that really kept my brain working hard. The puzzles reminded me of Portal a bit because a few of them required you to think outside the box. I was unable to finish because I was playing through with my wife and while this level is two player compatible, it is rather difficult with two. I've requeued it and I'll give it another go on my own later. I agree with others though... This deserves some recognition via a spotlight and/or MM Pick... | 2012-09-09 19:28:00 Author: Unknown User |
This is quite possibly the most inventive level I've played in a looong time. While the platforming itself was fairly standard, and the environments were nothing to pop eyes at, the overall concept is marvelous. One of the few LBP levels that made me stop and go "wait, what?...oooooooh, ok." Pretty much every set of obstacles presented a new way of using the rules of the level. Polish it up and add a bit more visual pizzazz to it, and I'd be dismayed if a number 2 didn't reach the Spotlight or get an MM pick. Very, very well done, and thanks for the entertainment! | 2012-09-10 14:59:00 Author: EvilWuun Posts: 152 |
