im pretty sure this has been thrown around

Archive: 17 posts

i assume this will still be thrown around i think that if LBP could simply add an upload (music) feature in the creation mode of the game it would be cool so many people can imagen playing there level at the tune of something it would be cool if you could share that with others i mean this game is GLOBAL so i think it would be pretty cool to hear music from all over AND it would only make LBP and makers etc look good a multi-cultural game if you will but im just saying im sure if enough people ask for it then they will do it MAYB or at least something close to it 2009-01-08 23:11:00

So... wait, are you suggesting music importing... or what?

if so, then what you ask is completely impossible. Having to memorize an entire song would take up a huge portion of the thermometer- might go even farther then the thermometer :/.

The copyright issues that this would run into would make this nearly impossible. I'm sure it will happen if it is at all possible though. However, if this does happen don't expect to get to use music from popular bands or anything because the level would be taken down.

Oh, and I might mention somewhere that I heard a dev in an interview say something about letting you create your own music on the psp or something though - that would probably be possible.

They could make an LBP music library filled with songs by artists that allow Mm to use them. They could be downloadable, some-what low quality versions that can only be listened to in LBP, not the PS3 music player.2009-01-08 23:31:00

I'm quite sure MM have alluded to the fact that music and songs will be added as downloadable content.

The MGS expansion has 4 (I think) new songs, one of them in the split channel format, and a new set of sound effects.

I don't expect they will be free though, and I don't expect to see the top 20 every week, or even every year or decade for that matter.

Importing paid for music is in no way copyright, but if limewire bearshare is in the picture then yes this would be along the cords of copyright.

YES. This is what we need. It shouldn't be a lawsuit problem and as long as you can only import from Itunes, I foresee no problems. I think I'll make a thread on LittleBigWorkshop about this later.

First of all, Sony is scared of lawsuits of any kind. They are too strict with their current moderation when it comes to copyright, for whatever reason they may have. Plus, what if someone found a way to rip music from LittleBigPlanet levels? Sony will want to avoid that, I'm sure.

You also have to consider filesize. Everything in LittleBigPlanet has already been downloaded to your PS3; it can be loaded quickly due to the local and private access. However, if you could add your own music, it would have to be downloaded to each player's PS3 while the level was loading, drastically increasing level load times.

This is a great idea but it will never happen because of file size alone. Maybe they can give use a new tool where we can build a song and save it into a sharable music item type so we can at least share user created music but the profile space would have to be increased greatly to accomplish this.2009-01-09 17:48:00

Nope. NEVER.
What's to stop somebody posting an extremely offensive song?
A feature like linking guitar hero or rockband songs to be playable on LBP would be good, although they kind of songs don't really suit the game.
Maybe if they made a database of songs you could choose from and buy for like 20p each or something?
