I'm just going to remind anyone posting in this thread to be respectful, mind the language and keep in mind the site rules before you post. This is a horribly sad and emotional event where real people lost their lives. Please conduct yourselves accordingly.

My thoughts are with the families of the victims.

A quote from this article (http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/365147/20120720/aurora-dark-knight-rises-batman-colorado-shooting.htm) gave me goosebumps, it's horrible.

Local reporter Justin Joseph of KDVR said that, according to witnesses: "As people ran this gunman opened fire hitting people. Police sources have told us there are at least 10 bodies inside the cinema, most of them children or teenagers, and one baby.

"A baby was shot at point blank range, the family were gathered around screaming."

I heard the killer was wearing a gas mask or something.. maybe to blend in, I wouldn't suspect someone like that. Horrible indeed.2012-07-20 14:38:00

It takes a really cold heart to shoot a baby at point blank range.

Gun laws really need to be looked into in the US.

Gun laws aren't the problem. There are plenty of restrictions guns.Tighter gun control won't change anything, because the person can just buy a gun illegally. What I want to know, is why there weren't any sort of security personnel to subdue the shooter.

UK has stricter gun laws than the US and it's still considered a more dangerous place to live in along with England.

Well, I'd imagine the police can only do so much against someone in a bullet-proof vest, plus having to get there. I can't imagine a cinema was expecting many shootings to happen. It's pretty horrific.
(on another note it might be worth changing the thread title. It's slightly misleading.)

This sounds terrible, but my first thought was "what moron takes their infant to a batman movie in the theater?"

My second thought was recalling Rainn Wilson's rage rant near the end of "Super"...

You don't butt in line! You don't sell drugs! You don't molest little children! You don't profit off the misery of others! The rules were set a long time ago! They don't change!

I really hope this guy gets badly mistreated for his entire life sentance. Shivved once a year at least among lots of other special attention.

there would've been other films on; the fact that it was batman is entirely coincidental. picturing it in the way that implies (i'm not describing) makes it seem even more harrowing.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't referring to police, but movie thater security. I do agree with your last sentence though. The title at the moment is a bit peculiar, not that I mean to nitpick or anything.

Anyway though, that sounds terrible. It's very sad to hear that, and hopefully those hurt recover with ease.

Yes, yes.. I too posess powers of reasoning and deduction. However first thoughts are generally not filtered through these and that is why I felt obliged to classify it as such. =/

It's sickening. These people went out to have a good time, to watch a movie they were excited about for months and escape from the stress of daily life. Then this madman kills them or traumatizes them for life. I hope he spends the rest of his days rotting in a prison cell.2012-07-21 03:53:00
