The Amazing Spider-Man

I know what you're thinking, another Spider-Man level really? Hopefully you guys aren't too burnt out to give it a whirl, I been working on it since launch finally ready for others to play it. It's a beta build of the first part of my Amazing Spider-Man series. Not based off the new movie but follows the exploits of Spider-Man as he web swings through NYC, takes photos for the bugle, stops the bad guys and gets the girl. Features the crowning achievement of my forum lurking and hours of turmoil, the Ultimate Spider-Bot. I have seen and played dozens if not hundreds of Spider-Man levels in LBP and NOTHING compares to this. If you don't play it you are missing out.

Major Features:

Plays as 1 of 4 iconic Spider-Men
Punch and jumpkick for combat
Web shots to freeze enemies for 3 seconds
Web swing with extendable/retractable web line
Double jump and wallcrawl
Spider Sense to alert you of nearby danger or objectives
Working HP bar and extra lives
8 Hidden tokens to find (prizes will follow shortly)
A race across Brooklyn for massive points
and finally a storyline that will span at least 4 levels once I get around to finishing them up and putting them together.

To be honest, just played it and the gameplay is quite impressive. I got a little confused because of the arrow pointing in 1 direction and i had to go the other to continue. Other than that. Great! Cant wait for the finished project.2012-07-21 20:54:00

been working all weekend on cleaning up the logic and trying to polish everything a little more. checkpoints and extra lives are working now so hopefully will have a new version posted by tonight.

Edit: Threw it together a little faster than anticipated and the new version is live. Includes a title menu to skip the button explanation if you've played before. Checkpoints/Extra lives are active, expanded the storyline a little, and a little prep work for the next update.

Coming soon, massive storyline involving several major bosses including the Green Goblin, Rhino, Shocker, Vulture, and the Lizard. Photo missions from the Daily Bugle, Web swing races, hidden tokens, and random crimes.

Massive updates today, 85% of the story is now complete, battle mechanics were tweaked, Rhino bossfight is 100% working, and tutorials and cutscenes were altered. Come on guys I cant keep making it better if nobody plays it to find out whats wrong with it.

Also still looking for feedback on my pirate level but I wont bother bumping it since it hasnt been updated since anyone last played it.

Just in case you missed it this is no longer a beta level, it is playable and fully functional. Added the ability to choose 1 of 4 costumes to play the level as; Classic, Scarlet, Symbiote, and 2099. Combat and wallcrawling animations have been tweaked as has the block animation. There are 8 hidden tokens and a race for you to try out. Multiplayer has been scrapped for at least this section of the level as it was bugging several of my mechanics but will hopefully be implemented in the next level. Been getting several new plays to this but no one is leaving constructive feedback so I do not know what else needs to be fixed or added. And for the record, writing a review that says "Play my level to see how to do it right." is not constructive feedback.2012-08-02 20:55:00

As what has to be my final update to this level as my thermo overheats by just opening a microchip the character select screen has been tweaked to include some art from the comics as has most of the cutscenes. I would've liked to do that for every piece of text for a truly immersive experience but adding anything else overheats so I will officially begin working on level 2 that this will chain into.2012-08-05 21:53:00

That level was awesome. With the choice of picking from 4 different spidermen at the start. I didn't know most of them but who cares.

Anyways the controls worked quite well. The punching was fluid, the web shooting worked well though I never actually hit anyone with it, and the swinging was just plain fun. I did notice though while
I was fighting the thugs, I could guard and attack at the same time. I could also move too. So I'd suggest fixing that.

Storywise it was good. It seemed a little random though. First I go home, then I go fight a rhino, then I'm supposed to be delivering the pic. And then there were the gang. But it's still pretty good.

I'm hoping the part to will be just as good. This level rightfully got my heart and a like.

Thanks so much for the kind words, the block issue was brought up to me already and I'll fix it first thing in the morning and will check out your level as well. The story won't make much sense so far but will continue to unfold through the progressing levels, I have 4 others in the works hopefully to be posted soon.
