Xudo Volcano!! >:3

Archive: 14 posts

I'm advertising my stage! It's super awesome! Try it and rate it! It's a platformer, it's actually a challenge but it's possible of course! I can guarantee it looks amazing! >:3 Some constructive criticism would be nice! There's 2 parts to it, I prefer the 2nd part myself.
Description: Some explorers got stuck in Xudo mountain! Don't worry! The volcano hasn't erupted in 20 years! What are the chances it'll erupt while you're inside? That could never happen!

Awesome platformer! There's a few places I felt it could have used an extra checkpoint. Also, at the end of the first race, it seems (and I could be wrong) that the only way to progress is to die and go back to the checkpoint and get the grappling hook again. A level should never require the player to die to progress unless it fits the story somehow. Still enjoyed it very much.

When you can, please check out and leave feedback on the level in my sig. Thanks.

Just played it, The cinematics were pretty awesome with the volcano erupting and such. The only issue i have is the fact that you don't use inf life checkpoints. Its really annoying getting all the way to the end and than having to start all the way back at the beginning because some parts are harder than others. The level its self was pretty good. Loved the lighting when you go underground in the end. Strangely felt real. Good work!

Please play and leave feedback for my inFAMOUS Pinball level here>>>http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/sho...ball-(1-Player

Don't apologize, if you made the checkpoints that way on purpose. Who said that a platformer has to have nothing but infinite life check points? Whatever happened to playing a level, dying a few times, practicing, getting better, and finally beating it? There should be a checkpoint at the beginning of each significant segment, but don't make it more about the visuals than the game. If all people want to do is look at pretty scenery, that can be done with a movie camera instead of platforming fun.2012-07-23 00:36:00

I just played it, and the level really needs some work. Don't take this the wrong way, i'm just saying this to help you make it better

First off, the first cutscene repeats if you go left and then go right again. You might want to fix it. A good tip for cutscenes is to activate them with a counter that counts to a maximum of 1. The counter will stay on, preventing the movie from being played again.

Also, there's a lot of straight hallways. I usually don't like straight shapes, especially in a natural environment, like a tree. They're usually also 3 layers thick. Play around some with round shapes and layers, and add some bubbles in the back layers. I'm sure it will look a lot better!

When i got to the volcano, there were some awfully laggy parts. You must have noticed it too! It's because the lava streams consist of so many particles. You should only have the lava streams emit when the player is near, and maybe have them activated for a shorter time. It will probably get rid of most of the lag! Also, the lava stream part is pretty hard. It might be worth it to put another checkpoint somewhere in the middle.

Good luck making the level better, and remember, practice makes perfect! For F4F, could you leave some feedback on the level in my signature? Thanks!

i think i prefer the first and i agree with some people here it would be great to have more decorations, they really bring a level to life. Through some flowers and leaves all over the place, go crazy with the them, theyll give your level a more natural look!overall i thought it was fun! i enjoyed the volcano cinematic! please give my level a try with some F4F

Well it is my very first level on LBP2 after all. So the cut scenes aren't as great as part 2's. I agree that part 1 didn't come out too great. But I would have to change the whole stage to implement what you recommend other then the decorations. I put round shapes and some sticker shapes in the level as well if you didn't notice xD
Also I would prefer the level retained its difficulty.
