Well i've always wanted to get to cool pages but im getting no plays .. Any tips on getting them? | 2012-07-14 20:16:00 Author: Unknown User |
I feel like I see a thread like this every week. Well, my first piece of advice - stop being a pest posting 'Play mai lvlz plz' on peoples levels and such. It was the first thing I saw when I opened your LBP.me page. Not a good image. First of all, let's talk about your in-game presentation. You'll want to try gearing yourself up for a weekend publish. If all goes well, you might even make it onto the Cool Pages if you can get enough attention within the first few hours. (But that's really a best-case scenario.) Publishing at the weekend ensures a larger audience for you. Naturally, some people are busier during the week. I trust you'll already know that a good level badge, title, description and some photo's help out a lot in attracting people in-game. Make a custom badge with an in-game photo, Eye-toy photo, or Move Painting. It doesn't nessecarily need to have the level name written in it, but it does need to be somehow relevant, and something that will attract people. Generic Sackperson-close ups are not the way to go. Ever. Your badge should in some way represent the level, whether you have the level name written in the badge or not is optional, but it must be something well thought out and people need to be able to understand what it is they see in the badge. A good title should be interesting. Try to avoid cliched names like 'LittleBigX' and whatnot. I also noticed your titles are in ALL CAPS - don't do that, it looks tacky. Always write up a description, and be sure to upload some photo's so people can either A) Have a look at your level before they start loading it. or B) They have a neat preview of what they're already loading. Again, keep your photo's relevant and interesting. Try to show off some of the best bits of your level, without ruining any surprises. As for LBPC threads, I always like to put on a good show. My mentality of LBPC showcases is thus - If you don't care enough about your level to spend more than 2 or 3 minutes creating a worthwhile thread, why on Craftworld should I care enough to play it? I don't mean to plug, but check out the links below my post, I like to think I have some pretty attractive threads. Maybe a little over-the-top, but secretly, I don't care if people read it or not, the point is, people see the mass amounts of text and are convinced I spent a good while working on not only the thread, but also the level. Talk about your level, what did you want to achieve? Did you achieve it? What are you proud of? Did you learn anything? What would you do different next time? Space out some photo's throughout your article, and if you really want to push the boat out, open up an Image Manipulation Program and create some banners and maybe even a promotion signitature. I use Photoshop, but a while ago I used GIMP. GIMP is freeware and almost identicle to PS, if slightly more rough around the edges. Another thing worth keeping in mind is that like everyone else, you'll need to work your way up the ranks, of sorts. As you improve as a creator, you'll build up a bigger and bigger following, so don't be disheartened if initially you feel like it's impossible to get off the ground. If you've really got the talent and the dedication, you'll eventually get the recognition you deserve. | 2012-07-14 21:09:00 Author: Ostler5000 Posts: 1017 |
If you can't get enough plays in LBP2, try creating something in LBP1 first. The people there only have shark and bomb survivals to play, so anything decent will get hundreds of plays per hour. (http://lbp.me/v/cwwdyp - has been up for 1 day, 2500 plays so far!) Otherwise, presentation is everything | 2012-07-14 23:02:00 Author: Deurklink1 Posts: 346 |
There's loads of ways you can get more plays. (Hey, I rhymed!) It helps to include the genre of your level in your level title in parentheses. Players looking for a level of a certain genre won't know your level is of that genre unless you indicate that. Posting a thread detailing info on a level you're working on in the Ideas and Projects (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?120-LBP2-Ideas-and-Projects) section is a great to get people interested in your level. Some people may like your idea and be willing to play your level as soon as it's finished. Others can point out game design choices you may want to make in your level. Posting a thread about your newly finished level in the Level Showcase (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?40-Level-Showcase) thread can give your level extra exposure and more plays. One more thing, people will be inclined to to heart you and play future levels from you if you make high quality levels and take level publishing more seriously than posting a description saying "i have added 2 more deaths please comment or reveiw other deaths i can add ". A description like that doesn't tell s*** about your level, but it tells a lot about your bad grammar and possible laziness, and it leaves a bad first impression. | 2012-07-15 03:27:00 Author: BIGGamerer Posts: 182 |
Well.. I'm just going to back up Ostler with his theory of having a good LBPC article on a level.. He is right.. I checked out one of his level articles on LBPC and I was hooked right away.. And now I have it queued... Also.. My tip is to aim low at first. Chances are, your first level isn't going to get MM Picked. Nor will it get LBL Picked, or Spotlighted, etc. What you want to do is to aim for an easier target, lets say, 10 plays. Once your level reaches that, aim for 50 plays, etc. This is what I did, and eventually I got spotlighted! Now I'm aiming higher, LBL, here I come > | 2012-07-15 03:52:00 Author: Wolffy123 Posts: 406 |
Make sure you follow all the advice given on here as there is some great advice. My advice would be, after trying everything else, to publish at the correct times. As you are aware, LBP is mostly a younger generations game and so to gain more plays you need to publish early evening when kids are not in school and yet not so late as they will be in bed. Say around 6-8pm. Trust me, I published a terrible level called Sacks in Space and it got over 700 plays. My much more detailed level, called Nature's Paradise, only got around 15o plays and all because I published late at night.... which was a mistake | 2012-07-15 15:56:00 Author: LittleBigSnooth Posts: 454 |

I believe that the majority of the LBP community is in the United Kingdom and North America. These time zones go through UTC +1 or so to UTC -7 or 8. In order to get the best amount of plays, you would want to publish, like you said, at the apporiximate time people get home from work or school. Since school is out in most places, publishing later when people get home from work would be best. I recommend publishing at around 6-8 o'clock, like LittleBigSnooth said. Friday is also the best time to publish. This is because it's the beginning of the weekend, and people want to relax and play some awesome LBP levels, right? Now.. If you publish at around 6-8pm, depending on your location, a large amount of the LBP community may be asleep. Now, EpicGamerNoob lives in UK (according to his Location). The best time for him to publish would be 6-8 as mentioned. It would be best for everyone to publish at that time, even those in North America. This is because at this time, all of the UK and North America are awake, giving you a better chance to get plays. So, to summarize, the best time to publish (IMO) is 6-8pm (UTC Time) on Friday. | 2012-07-15 17:15:00 Author: Wolffy123 Posts: 406 |
Well first of all advertising your level is a no no, I am not really really against it because anything is better than copying noobs that spam the cool wall, but if you really want to get on the cool wall you need to really work on your Earth's theme to grab peoples attention, also a nice profile picture shows that you really want to be known on LBP and has the above comments said a nice level logo really grabs peoples attention and you would have to publish the level on a busy day like Friday UK time http://littlesigplanet.com/sigs/profile/xHuRbUrTzZ/sites_lbl/0/sig.png (http://lbp.me/u/xHuRbUrTzZ) | 2012-07-29 21:11:00 Author: Unknown User |
