What seems to be a picture of a weird-looking new PS3 popped up on the site of Anatel (the Brazilian Agency of Telecommunications). The image depicts a PS3-labeled device with a ridged texture and what appears to be a sliding panel on top ? perhaps indicating a cheaper top-loading disc drive.

We can't access the image directly ? the above version is from Tecnoblog (http://tecnoblog.net/107348/novo-ps3-anatel/) ? but the database does bring up a document from Sony Brasil making reference to products CECH-4011A, CECH-4011B and CECH-4011C? which Tecnoblog says corresponds to systems with 16 (!), 250, and 500GB storage. The latest PS3 Slim is the CECH-30xx series

Recently, diagrams (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/05/new-playstation-3-model-may-be-in-the-works-suggests-fcc-filing/) popped up on the American FCC website also suggesting a new model of the PS3. Sony declined to comment following that discovery, but we're checking in again today.

Update: Tecnoblog (http://tecnoblog.net/107348/novo-ps3-anatel/) has updated with more photographs of the device from different angles. We've got one more after the break, but head to the site (http://tecnoblog.net/107348/novo-ps3-anatel/) to see the rest!

Something I'm teaching myself: Leaks don't exist until the developer confirms it. So I'm going to be the annoying skeptical and say that it's fake.
Plus, if you guessed it was real and it turns out to be, congrats, you win nothing!

Why are the UBD ports still hard to see?!
Surely I'm not the only one annoyed by their placement?

A 16GB ps3? You may as well not bother.

I reckon that could be a flash version of the console to be sold mainly to the casuals. Perhaps a Journey compilation bundle or a Okami HD bundle? With the option of adding a drive easily, I can see that as a very good option for some people, especially if it hits around the ?100 mark

In fact the potential bundles for this year are quite exceptional:

Okami HD (MOVE bundle)
Battle Royale
Journey compilation
LBP2 DLC special addition
LBPKarting
Sly Cooper
MGS4 Trophy addition

Any of these bundles coupled with the new design and with perhaps a price drop is going to send sales of the PS3 skyrocketing. And perhaps get Gaikai up and running for Plus users with PS1 and PS2 classics. Sony could also have a Vita/PS3 bundle as well as a MOVE bundle (probably using the 16GB 'flash'? version of the new SKU)

Fresh rumours are surfacing.

Whilst it's tricky to put too much stock into message board posts as concrete proof, news that we?ll finally see the much rumoured CECH-4000 redesign hitting isn?t exactly a stretch.
Posts over on NeoGAF have pointed out that September 28th is the likely release date for the new model ? days after this year?s Tokyo Game Show and would tie in nicely with a couple of big releases.
Namely, FIFA and the complete Gran Turismo re-release.
As stated, none of this is confirmed and thus it's clearly marked as a rumour. But the poster seems confident and seeing as everyone expected the 4000 to be announced at Gamescom, a TGS reveal seems perfectly possible.

http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/09/09/rumour-new-4000-model-ps3-super-slim-lands-september-28th/

According to one European site (http://www.gamereactor.de/News/43621/Neue+PS3+mit+12+GB+Flashspeicher%3F), a German retailer has mentioned that Sony will be issuing a ?new 12GB? PS3 in two weeks. That would tie it in with our earlier reveal (http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/09/09/rumour-new-4000-model-ps3-super-slim-lands-september-28th/) that the new CECH-4000 ?Super Slim? model would hit just after the Tokyo Game Show.
Early leaks for the upgraded console hinted at a 16GB onboard storage, so quite where 12GB has come from is anyone?s guess, unless it's just reserved space for the OS and caching.
The source also hints at a price increase, although this is unsubstantiated at present.

Not sure if this is old news, but I was at work (Australian Retailer) today and noticed two new PS3 SKUs on the system. A 500GB "NEW PS3 SLIM" and a 12GB "NEW PS3 SLIM". $388 AUD and $288 AUD respectively. We are unable to order stock of existing models currently as well. The latest possible delivery date for the stock is the last week of September, with 17 and 27 of each model on order.

What would that make them in US dollars and UK pounds?

With various countries different tax rates and the mystery bonus charges in different regions a conversion of the price isn't going to reflect what they'll actually cost.

http://bi.gazeta.pl/im/2a/ae/be/z12496426Q,Nowe-PlayStation-3.jpgHad many rumors have come an end, and indeed in stores soon will be a new model? For some time, rumors are flooding the network on the PS3 version, which would soon hit stores. Of course, Sony (http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=2&hl=en&ie=UTF8&prev=_t&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=auto&tl=en&twu=1&u=http://technologie.gazeta.pl/internet/0,104750.html%3Ftag%3Dsony&usg=ALkJrhhfNbP1UTIRSHIHFT4g0kTVhAO9Hg) is cut off from all the rumors, but it does not prevent stores add to their tender unannounced models. Tokyo Game Show next week, where he most likely will be formally acknowledged.

In the notes, which are supposed to get shops, refers to the two models. One of them is the "new 500 GB PS3 Slim", which is apparently a new model of the disk with a capacity of 500 GB included. The second is a version of the SSD, which have room for 12 GB of data. Sony tells them to stop the supply of the current version and that the new models will be in stores by September 27. According to rumors, the SSD version will cost 199 euros and the 500 GB version - 299.
To duplicate the date of the picture, which we sent in our reader - Martin. Picture taken from a promotional newsletter Store Media Expert. We checked the electronic version, which is located here (http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=2&hl=en&ie=UTF8&prev=_t&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=auto&tl=en&twu=1&u=http://www.mediaexpert.pl/gazetka-promocyjna/&usg=ALkJrhi43_v0lcG9ytdh-IO1bcKGEmNhXQ) , but unfortunately it has no mention of a new model. Waiting for new versions? Will the new PS3 conquer shops and become a hit for the holidays?

Tokyo Game Show is always an exciting time for gamers everywhere, as we all look forward to new games and other news being unveiled during the show. This year is no exception. We are always looking for ways to create better experiences for our gamers, and to that end, we just unveiled a smaller, lighter PlayStation 3 at the show.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8174/8001375055_0be12360f1_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/8001375055/)
The new PS3 will be available in two different models, with 250GB and 500GB HDDs which will allow you to store even more of your digital life. It also features a smaller, streamlined design that will look great as part of any entertainment system. The new model is approximately 20% smaller and 25% lighter than the current PS3.
In order to maintain the superior gaming experiences that you expect from us here at PlayStation, we are always looking for ways to change and evolve with your gaming behavior. You might remember the smaller models that we launched for PlayStation 2 and PSP (PlayStation Portable), and we know that many of you love the opportunity to add these streamlined models to your home. Additionally, as developers continue to release deep and rich digital gaming content, providing an option for larger HDD is essential, especially for games with large DLC packs, and full game downloads, as well as personal entertainment content. The biggest and best games live on PS3 this holiday season, and the new PS3 is the perfect way to play.
We are also excited to announce that the launch of this new PS3 model will include incredible additional value. The 250GB PS3 will be available on September 25th for $269.99 (MSRP) as part of a limited edition bundle (http://us.playstation.com/ps3/systems/uncharted3-gameofyear-bundle.html) featuring UNCHARTED 3: Drake?s Deception: Game of the Year Edition and a voucher for more than $30 worth of bonus digital content for the highly acclaimed digital title, DUST 514 (http://us.playstation.com/games-and-media/games/dust-514-ps3.html?CMP=soc_us__ac_sm_05_21_12). This bundle offers more than $70 in total combined value.

The winner of over 60 industry and Game of the Year awards, UNCHARTED 3: Drake?s Deception (http://us.playstation.com/games-and-media/games/uncharted-3-drakes-deception-ps3.html?CMP=soc_us__ac_sm_05_21_12) will be re-released next week in an all new Game of the Year Edition, which includes 12 new multiplayer maps, over 40 multiplayer skins, Fort Co-Op Adventure, and Shade Survival Mode, a value of over $45 in bonus content. In case you somehow missed it, UNCHARTED 3: Drake?s Deception is the latest installment in Naughty Dog?s storied UNCHARTED franchise that chronicles the adventures of Nathan Drake. UNCHARTED 3: Drake?s Deception Game of the Year Edition is a great way to kick off your gameplay experience on the newest PS3 model.
UNCHARTED 3: Drake?s Deception Game of the Year Edition will also be available as a standalone title on September 25th for $39.99 (MSRP).
CCP Games? DUST 514 brings intense infantry combat, large-scale warfare and deep character advancement to PS3 in an exclusive free-to-play massively multiplayer shooter. Set in, and integrated with, the massive universe of EVE Online, players wage war in the next generation of first-person shooters, where a single victory could prove the crushing blow to a galactic empire of thousands of online gamers. This bundle includes an incredible amount of bonus value ? more than $30 in total.
For those of you who do not own a PS3 yet, or have been looking to add another PS3 to your household, this is the perfect opportunity to jump in before the next wave of blockbuster games launch this holiday season.

Looks like Sony have changed their strategy on pricing too. This is quite risky but could pay dividends if retailers start battling for sales:

Sony’s brand new PS3, which we revealed at 5am this morning, has seen many sites (including us) trying to figure out the pricing from the Euro and Dollar equivalent.

However, SCEE (Sony’s European branch) have been in touch with TheSixthAxis this morning to point out that they don’t set pricing – or, at least, they haven’t set an RRP.

“With regards to price, we no longer set an RRP, instead, that will be dictated by individual retailers themselves,” says the statement. “In terms of the overall hardware offering, we’re adding value (referring to the boosted hard drive size), and via a large selection of individual hard & soft bundle packs, such as FIFA 13, Assassins Creed 3, and Wonderbook: Book of Spells etc. on the run up to Xmas and beyond.”

We had estimated the price to be ?240 for the big 500 GB, and ?185 for the 16GB flash version. These, then, will be subject to change as and when retailers set their prices.

The FIFA 13 / 500 GB bundle will be exclusive to GAME in the UK, available from September 28th.
