That's right LBPC peeps, it's time for the 10th season of LBP Survivor!!

Mr.Radical posted this:

In season 8, we closed up recruiting so that the best veteran players could take each other on in a monumental battle of all-stars. In season 9, I stepped away from running things so I could infiltrate the game as a player. The time has come for our tenth season. Continuing the trend of bigger, crazier seasons, season 10 is going to be the biggest season we've ever had.

This season, we plan on having more players than we've ever had before. This season for the first time ever, we're having reward challenges throughout the season where players can win prizes ranging from in game perks to toys to DLC to gift cards. Also this season, we'll finally have a tribal council every round where players will be grilled on the choices they've made throughout the game.

For those who don't know, Survivor: LittleBigPlanet is a competition based on the TV show Survivor. In it, I take a group of players from the LBP community and split them up into teams. Every 2-3 days, players from the teams compete in challenges built in LBP2. The losing team must vote a player out and the process more or less repeats itself until we get to our final players.

Challenges come in different types, most of which will be based around solving puzzles or platforming. We try to put an LBP spin on what we think you'd see in a real life season of Survivor. In terms of how challenges are played, they mostly come in the following varieties:

1 - Challenges where players get to play on their own - either as many times as they want when going for a high score, or trying to be the first to get through a level.
2 - Head to Head challenges where we'll set a meeting time for everyone to get online and take on live opponents.
3 - Single player challenges where players must find a staff member online at their convenience.

Most of the game outside of challenges will take place in your team's private forum. Each team gets a private forum that can be thought of as their camp. There, players can interact with fellow teammates and get all of the latest updates on the game. Only the staff and the players on a team will be able to see what happens there. Once the game begins, players will gain access to their team's private forum.

Once a good portion of players have been eliminated (exact number to remain secret until it happens), the teams will merge and competitions will then become individual. The winner of these individual challenges gets immunity from being voted off. All remaining players will vote for one of those remaining.

Once we get down to the final vote, a specific number of recently eliminated players will each cast a vote for who they want to win. Most votes in the final vote becomes the Sole Survivor.

Rules and format for each challenge will be presented to the players following each vote.

Other variations may occur and will be explained to the players as the game progresses.

Doesn't LBP max out at 4 players?
Since LBP maxes out at 4 players, I've devised challenges that will work around that limitation. Some challenges will have the individual contributions of each team's members adding up to a whole, some will have head to head battles, some will require 2-3 from a team working together. Info and videos from our last few seasons can be found in the Survivor subforum here in Planetarium's competitions forum.

Want in? Here's what you need to do.
Send me something creative showing why you should be picked to play. Make a level, write a story, write a poem, sing a song, make a video... Whatever you think would tell the staff why you should be picked to play. Please keep these PG. As for what specifically to say or do, it's now up to you.

Once you do, I'll send you a questionnaire to fill out. Fill it out and send it back and you'll be invited to play a practice level with a member of our staff. Poor performance in the practice level shouldn't keep you from getting into the game – instead your performance will be used when teams are created. After playing, all that's left is to await further info. Once we're about to start, I'll send you an invite to your team's group page. It's that simple!

However, there are some requirements for potential players:
Send in an application video, answer the questions, and play the application level with a staffer.
Be willing to check the forum at least once a day and play in a challenge once every 2-3 days.
Be able to make it to the occasional scheduled meet up in game, in Playstation Home, and in Planetarium's chat.
Be willing to stick with this game for as long as you're still in it. If this starts in early August, we'll probably end sometime in early / mid September.
Be willing to vote in the final vote even if you aren't satisfied with the final two.
Be able to take in game screenshots and either post them online or send them to me.
Be able to respond to messages and group posts in a timely manner.
Be willing to follow the rules of a given challenge.
Be willing to follow the rules of the overall game.

Finally, while this isn't a requirement, it will be beneficial for anyone playing to use Windows Live / MSN messenger or any other compatible service. Also, it will help all players to follow me on twitter @mrradical5601

They are no real limits to who can join this game. Returning players are allowed to play. Please do not lie about who you are. Please be somewhat coherent and have at least some grasp of how to play LBP. I also advise anyone who wishes to play to look up the basics of Survivor. Players from outside of the US can play. Players from outside of the US can win prizes. All gift cards and PSN cards will be for the North American store.

The prizes this season are insane. And yes, I said prizes. Throughout the season, players will compete in reward challenges where they'll have the chance to win prizes ranging from in-game perks, to toys, to dlc, to gift cards. And the big winner at the end gets a $50 PSN card.

Awesome STB! Just follow the steps that I highlighted in bold above and we will contact you from there on Planetarium. You have a Planetarium account right?

So would you need a relatively fast Internet for this?
That would be a good idea fire, since you probably already know what it's like playing with others on LBP, there's always some lag. If you know your internet causes "issues" regularly then you may have trouble connecting with the other competitors and/or staff members in order to complete your challenges but everyone will experience some lag every now and then of course. So if your internet is ok (ie. you play online and don't experience too many problems) then I say you are ok to join the competition.

Ladies and Gents, there is now up to over $100 worth of PSN cards, as well as other prizes to be won in this season. As if you needed any more incentive to join up. It's going to be fantastic fun. Not long left to sign up, so get in there quick if you're interested!2012-07-20 09:30:00
