LBPC Crown Contest #8 - The Results

With this contest we really set out to test your mettle. We threw down a true gauntlet - to make a super-fast underwater level and you guys rose to the challenge magnificently. You genuinely pushed the boundaries of the game and wowed us with some amazing and thrillingly fast entries. So well done to every single creator who was brave (crazy?) enough to enter.

We?d also like officially to welcome a couple of new members to the Crew. We?re delighted that Dav1d0 and ALS_Thegamer have joined us. It has to be said that they had a pretty tough first job in judging this contest as it was genuinely difficult to pick a winner out of the 10 finalists.

However, you arrived at the way of a dangerous raging stream. You will find a legendary city across this raging stream!! --This is my entry to the LBPC8 contest, This level is very fast underwater platformer. Somewhat hard. This level takes place in a flooded factory, The pulg supporting the water collapsed, and caused the flood. Congratulations yu-kamone! Your entry blew us out of the water (groan

) with its non-stop pace, vibrancy and great visuals. It was an awesome thrill ride from start to finish.

Well done to coscos-9 ? your level was a very close second to the winner. The judges all loved the inventiveness and originality of your level - awesome drills!

Congratulations too to our third placed entry, deadmn ! Your level was great all round - fantastic use of layers and some neat, original gameplay mechanics.

Yes fantastic choices! Yu-Kamones is a perfect 1st place selection! I loved his visuals coupled with the awesome gameplay! Congrats man! And nice dead! you got top 3! I must've played your level the most trying to ace it XD Great work everyone who participated and the contest crew of course for dealing with all our silly questions and bribes (I want my $20 back judges

I played a few of these, and it's almost like the creators carved out a new sub genre for LBP, 'the stomach churningly fast platformer'.

'Grats to the winners and thanks to the creators who entered, there were some really inventive ideas flying around.

I've checked their profile (through "pin progress" on lbp.me) personally and can assure you that they did not have a crown prior to this contest.

As stated earlier, we will make sure prizes get to the right people. There is no need to worry.

The Japanese community is doing their best to integrate with us, while not everyone of them speaks English

I know they try hard.

That's why there are more judges, to be sure that the level that received the overall agreement and consensus wins.

I think this was one of the hardest contest challenges for some time...so whoever got the crown in the end, deserved it so very much.

Congrats to you Yu-Kamone in producing an amazing entry. 2nd and 3rd rocked my socks off too. Ive played a few honourable mentions and enjoyed them so much. So much talent on show and i bow down to you all.

Well done everybody and good luck in the next contest. Never give up. Ever!

I was out due to oral surgery. Just want to say a huge congratulations to yu-kamone for grabbing the top slot and to Coscos-9 and deadmn for rounding out the top 3. Also congrats to all our Honorable mentions. To say that this one was a tough one to judge would be an understatement. We wrestled and fought and replayed then wrestled some more. All great levels and was indeed difficult to pick the one winner. Thank you to all who put in the effort to enter this contest and I hope that you keep entering.

Gongratulations yu-kamone, that was amazing level and done really quickly too. Great job coscos and deadmn also, loved your levels too. And what amazing feeling it is to be in mentions surrounded all cool levels that I thought even had a winning possibility. Community sure got a lot of great (and of course fast ;D) water levels from this contest!

Hi Lakera, I must say even though your level wasn't that fast it was still impressive with your take of the theme. We were all impressed with the continuity and obstacles as it progressed. Especially how you made it reset and move back every time you died and respawned. At least you made it into the honourable mentions.

Congrats to all the winners! I wasn't able to participate in this one, but probably I'll be there for the next contest.
About that, just as a suggestion of course, but I would like it to be at the beginning of August, because the PLCC4 (Planetarium Contest 4), as well as the LBP Beta both finish in July 31st, and also many people wouldn't get distracted by school stuff yet, and probably there would be much more entries and sackfolks willing to participate in August.

I don't think ill be able to join the Plcc4 contest cause of the beta and i just found out about it a few days a go.:/ so i dont have a nuff time to even create something for it.

Oh, were already at the 9th? Oof, I hibernated this long... I would really like a logic-based challenge, but I haven't been on for so long that it will take time for me to think it right - I spent the last month programming on PC so I'm rusted XD

I'm late as usual, but better late then never.

Congrats to yu-kamone for this blast of level, to coscos-9 and deadmn for such a great and original levels, was a really close battle for the 3 first positions. I personally loved judge this contest because I had lot of fun playing very innovative levels, this contest was a opportunity to the creators to do their best and show everybody that create a fast paced underwater level is very fun and fluid to play. Congratulations to all the creators who are in honorable mention.

Thanks to all the creators who was entering, you all did this possible. Thanks to the contest crew for the great work and for give me the chance to be part of the crew.

Hmmmm a contest that shows all of your logic.

I hide my logic cause i fill that it makes my level look cleaner.But that is a cool idea deurklink1.

Since the last one had to do with water and being fast and all that..I didin't under stand it so i didin't join...I really hope the next contest is more under stand able.

Mabe a race contest Not sure if they have done one of thos yeat?.

Mabe a mini game contest?.

Mabe a random platformer contest Like make something any thing.

Since its all most fall it would be nice if the next contest was based on a fall theme.

I like the idea of an Autumn themed contest.

Or maybe the 'Mundane task' contest. Where you had to pick a theme from a list of everyday things to make an interesting level out of. Like washing the dishes, or mowing the lawn.

I'm all contested out. The wait between and during these contests is just too long for it to be worth the time and effort to keep doing it agaaaain and again. It's fun if you haven't done it before though, I'm glad I gave it a shot

I probably won't be playing LBP for a while though, not till that neat cross-controller dlc comes out.

Just bought myself a Playstation Sharpshooter controller...so going to justify my expenses by shooting zombies with it lol. Hopefully it works better than it did in Resistance and Killzone

I'm not giving up, I just don't have the time or even the urge to get into something that takes so much time. I'm a college student, I need to actually study lol. And I did pretty well in the last contest so it was my type of contest. I'd rather see some other players who enjoy the game get some of the spotlight instead
