Your First Post (NO CONTEXT)

Archive: 48 posts

Hey, I thought it would be fun to have people share their first ever LBPC post, besides your introduction and without any context of why you posted it.

To find your first ever post, go to your LBPC profile and click "Find latest posts." Go to the very last page and to the bottom post of that page. That will be your first post. Your first post might not be here though, if you have 450+ Posts.

Okay, well. *Gulp* Here it goes:

great job it kinda reminded me of simplexity by rayvolution ...

you remind me of him... jk i know how much you hate that

My first and second posts were advertising levels which aren't interesting to read, but this is my third post:

It would be neat if instead of having to create logic with loads of pistons, magnetic keys, winches, motor bolts and who knows what else, if there was a single object that you could place in your level and create simple scripts for it to follow in its tweak menu, like a microchip.

I don't know how this would be implemented, just throwing it out there.

Took me an hour to write this... hope you enjoy.

LittleBigTreasureHunter

Altar

The starting area. It’s a square room with a door on each corner- to get to the top two, you have to jump up some platforms. There is an Alter in the middle with four different holes.
When you first enter the area, a textbubble will pop up- if you can program cutscenes, in the center, or if you have to pass by a specific area, it will be in a coridoor at the top. It is connected to your sackboy, who says that this is the seal of a great demon. Apparently, this great demon is guarding a magnificent treasure, and so your hero decided to break into the seal, defeat the magnificent demon it took many brave heroes to seal away, and take the treasure it’s guarding. Swell.
To begin with, you are in the center of the room, near the altar. You have to go into the four doors, bring back the orb of each, and place them in the altar to gain access to the final level. I hope you can carry items through the different connected levels or this may be impossible unless it’s scrammed into one level…
Anyway, you can do them in any order. I’ll do the fire room first.

Lava Chamber

You start on a platform surrounded by lava. You have to jump to the next platform, and don’t fall into the lava, because that’s a restart to the respawn at the beginning. After a few platforming feats, the main enemy of the level, Lava Rocks, appear. They roll toward you, and have a switch on on of their four sides for you to jump on. Jump on that one, and don’t touch the other four because they will hurt you.
After a brief catacomb with those Lava Rocks, a ladder will be on the left. Climb the ladder, but be careful- lava will fall from the top every so often. As such, you must jump from that ladder to one of the other two ladders to evade the lava. Wonderful.
It is here, that you are now at top of a lavafall. There is a stone boat to the right- so, obviously, you have to hop on and go down the lavafall! You are on the boat, lava being spurted into the boat, you having to avoid. Lava Rocks also climb into the boat, so dispatch of them the same way as before. At the end, you’ll come ashore to a island in the middle of a pool of lava. Boss time!
A Dragon head comes up from either the left or right side, spitting rocks at you- yes, rocks. You can stand on the top of them, but being hit by them is a death, as is falling into the lava. You have to use the rocks as footstools to jump on the Dragon’s head, which will damage it using switches. After being hit, the dragon will fall into the lava, making you jump to safety beforehand. A few hits later, the dragon dies, lowering a bridge on the other side where the Lava Gem awaits. Go near it, and pick it up! You just have to bring it back now… So, a corridor will appear on the right, where you have to carry the Fire Orb down a few floors until you get to the entrance. Watch out for the Lava Rocks, though.
Once you get back to the entrance, go through the door and place the Fire Gem in the Alter. One down, three to go- if you chose to do this first.

Ice Chamber

Full of ice, of course. Which is slippery.
The door is in the middle of a hallway- to the right is a barricade which must be activated with a switch on the other side, the left is a drop. Take the drop, and you will fall on a icy island with Ice spikes on either side. There is an Ice Ball there. The Ice Ball can’t hurt you, but it CAN push you, which is further aided by the ice. So, the Ice Ball will push you if you touch it’s front. If you touch the back, you push it, so push it into the spikes before it does you. Then, a path opens to an icy corridor with Ice Bats flying around- jump on their heads to defeat them before they hit you.
Once you get to the other side, another drop- with another icy island like before, with TWO Ice Balls. Do the same with these two, and then continue.
Now, an icy catacombs. There is a door on the other side, and a switch to open that door somewhere in the catacombs. There are Ice Bats and Balls- The Ice Balls will push you and still do no damage, but they may push you into Ice Bats or just hinder your work by pushing you down several flights, and Ice Bats will harm you same as before. Jump on that switch, and go to the door.
Now, an icy ascent catacombs, with Ice Bats again- then, a small drop, another Ice Island with two more Ice Balls- and then jump up the platform to find a room with ice surrounding it and several holes in the background.
An Ice monster will appear from those holes, and throw icicles at you- jump at his head, and dodge the iciles. He will move through the holes, appearing in a different place each time.
Once you defeat him, a door is open. Go though it, go down a drop and- yes, the Ice Orb! But, you fell down once, so do it again with it to fall on yet ANOTHER ice island, with THREE ice balls, and you have to carry the orb. Good luck!
Once you defeat all three ice Balls, a door opens which has a switch to open it, allowing you to go back to the entrance and NOT hear me say ice again.

Air Chamber

Yes… a few small platforms floating in the air, with wind gusts pushing you at all times. Perfect.
Jump on the platforms, dodge the new Owl enemy trying to knock you off, and get to the end of the first platforming sequence. Now… a bunch of leaves are blocking your way, and a giant fan can blow them away- lucky there is one aimed at it. But, you have to turn it on. So, go to the switch at the top of the room, and the fan turns on and blows the leaves away. Hurray.
Another platforming sequence now, only with ropes to swing on- yay- then another fan room, this one more complicated.
Then, the boss- a Giant Parrot. The Parrot flies around a few small platforms in the air, and you have to jump on them and –of course- jump on his head. Owls will also fly around, making this more difficult.
Once you defeat the Raven AND all the owls, a few more platforms appear, which lead you to the Air Orb. Now, to carry the air orb across another platforming sequence with Owls attacking you, back to the door at the beginning, where you place the orb there.

Forest Chamber

The last in my order of events.
You are on the left side of a tree- owls will return as you jump up the branches on the left, to go over the top and jump down to the right. Then, a new enemy, the Mole, will appear. He will appear out of several holes in the ground, and throw dirt at you. Jump on his head to defeat him.
Another tree obstacle, then some more forest clearing with owls and moles. Then, a tree with NO branches to jump on- just a decayed bottom with a torch next to it. There’s a switch nearby that will light the torch, burning a path through the bottom of the tree. Another forest clearing, and then another tree climb. BUT, jumping off the right of this one is death- so, you have to use vines across the room to swing to the next area. Swing through those vines to another treetop, this one larger, the perfect place for a…
Boss. Of course. This one is a Spider. The spider shoots out web, and you have to jump over them, of course, and jump ion it’s- gasp- back to hurt it.
Once you defeat it, you fall down the tree into a catacomb, go to the left, defeating moles, until you find the Forest Orb! Yay! Just keep carrying it to the right, and take it through the door- you did it! Wait, oh yeah, that terrible demon will be awakened…

Demon Chamber

Once all four orbs are in lace, the altar will turn into a huge door. Enter it to enter a straight path with a bunch of platforms held together with dark matter and a crazy purplish background. At the end of this small platforming sequence, a cutscene- the demon asks who freed him from his prison, and you say that you did- and ask for a reward. The demon balks at this demand, and will destroy you instead of rewarding you.
This is the final boss! The demon is a giant eyeball floating through the area. Jumping on him is no good- you need a different way.
Luckily, there are four orbs floating around the room- the same you used to get here. Jump on them, and your Sackboy will begin to glow. Then, jump on the Demon, which will break the orb and hurt the Demon. Do this with all four, and…
Well, you managed to remove its barrier. Jump on the Demon’s head a few times, it throwing you off after being hit, and… you defeat it! Which brings you the tresure…
A Giant, Golden Eyeball! The Demon itself was the treasure! Now a whole lot richer- not to mention managing to defeat a demon it took whole armies to seal away- your Sackboy leaves, and this game ends.

Ah, memories...

Also, the method you listed doesn't work if you have more than a certain amount of posts, I had to go to advanced search and mess around with that to get my oldest posts (not including my intro).

Microchips Question.

I fairly new to LBP create mode. I didn't try it on the first game, but I'm having a blast on this game, seing what I can actually come up with, with the logic. I've refraimed from putting all of my logic onto microchips, because they're easier to access when they're just plonked where I want them to be, though it does tend to look a bit chaotic.
My question is: Does putting logic onto Microchips actually free up some thermometer space?

Thanks.

Not 100% sure, but this could be it. It certainly looks like a post a noob would make.

Well, there are 18 pages, each with 25 posts... which equals 450. So I guess that. Then again, the search mechanism is kind of messed up, I just remember posting those two posts my first day along with my intro. I showed up when CC was an admin for only like a day or so. I feel special.

I originally came here solely to advertise my levels and get to the cool pages. The horror.

I've been pretty dissapointed with the amount of plays my level has got, and for people that like tanks and other war vehicles, i'm asking them to play it and give it a shot. I've made two comlex [sic] war vehicles that are fun, easy to use, and extremely intricate and life-like. [not really] To get them, play my level M1A1 Abrams Tank & Tactical Humvee. (I've recently exported a few images of them off lbp itself, and I'll hopefully have them here shortly if someone can tell me how) [Funny, I later made a guide about it]

Tacticl [sic] Humvee featuring movable machine gun, nightvision, working wheel system, flamethrower, jetpack, and missile launcher.

[Pictures went here; apparently their files have been lost to antiquity]

M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank, featuring movable minigun, movable tank gun, missiles, rocket-propelled paintball clusters, tank shells, and working treads.

][leftover bracket]

Here's my second one. I'll spare you the context and leave us to ponder why I felt the need to write in a bold, gigantic font.

It was a cold, dark, eerie night when two grim figures could be seen against the silhouette of the moon. These two figures were Vuurperisk and Vuurpataur, sworn enemies of the duurps as long as any vuurp or duurp could remember.

Starring:

Vuurperisk:
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=521&pictureid=8063

Vuurpataur:
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=521&pictureid=8062

Vurperisk: Time to make our attack.
Vuurpataur: Those dimduurps are asleep. They'll never see us coming.

With hatchet and switchblade, the two set off as quietly and quickly as their stealth allowed.

Vurpataur: Burn the wall!

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=521&pictureid=8059

Screams ran wild through the small, traveling duurp camp. Children and elders alike were slaughtered mercilessly in their sleep.

Vuurperisk: Sweet dreams!

The only two to wake, Duurpia and Duurpio, were paralyzed with fear. Finally, Duurpio broke the silence. I'll try to stop them, he said, but the doubt in his voice didn't coax her fears. "Duurpia, stay in the tent. I'll come back for you!" said Duurpio.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=521&pictureid=8061

As he walked out slowly, Duurpia cowered in the tent. Silence, nothing. Her heart was in her throat. Suddenly, a scream ran out through the forest, seeming so loud the whole world could hear it. Muffled and bloody, she did not know who it came from. Quietly, footsteps approached her on the mud and leaves that covered the craggy ground. As a dark shadow crept across the tent, Duurpia screamed. But who was the shadow?

Your contributions determine what happens next. If you enjoy weapons, evil, and mysterious creepiness, the vuurp is for you. For more information, visit this link. Anyone can join =)

Not entirely sure I believe this, but...

I have the Play trophy, so I've aced all levels, but I remember the mines being hard. My advice is, forget the score bubbles and prize bubbles. If you haven't already got collected all objects, then do it in a seperate run to acing it.

And strangely I also managed the Bunker's wheel first try.

Mmhmmm...

Okay, so lately I've been fooling around with Lighting...

The key tool being the Global Settings switch...

I have been using it quite a bit lately, and I want to know, (If looking at the topic doesn't make it obvious enough...) what does one-shot do on the Global Settings switch?

I usually don't ask questions like this, but I figure I'll need to know anyway...

Mine isn't funny! How about I check my first LittleBigWorkshop post...

I read somewhere about a cool suggestion, Emotion sensors.

You could use them to scan and see what emotion the sackperson is using.

It would work like a grab switch to more than 1 player. If one person is doing that emotion, it triggers the switch.

It would work nicely for jets!

Imagine piloting a jet by simply pressing buttons on the D-pad!

I'd buy that!

Welp not too bad... Although my third or fourth LittleBigWorkshop post was begging for a Kratos pre-order code.

My first post (my introduction thread):

Hello!
My PSN ID is L1N3R1D3R, and why I <3 LBP (2 especially) is MAKING YOUR OWN LEVELS!!!
My 2 favorite parts are the pre-made logic and the Controlinator!
I hope you all can educate me more about the wonders of Craftworld!

That "pre-made logic part" is still true, but the "Controlinator" part isn't.

Im in the U.K, i could help you out!!!
I'll add you next time im on. :3

Nice, cheers.

Yeah man, I got one of my local friends to help test it but he's not very good at LBP and he found it very hard. He DID help me fix 2 problems I couldn't have predicted though, which is nice.

THE LEVEL IS COMPLETE but I still want at least one more person to run through it before I publish it. Joruto, looking at you here

HA! I guess this was when Asbestos was kind of a n00b!

My oldest interesting post I could find:

(I'll get more pictures soon)

I posted this on another forum, so I decided to post it on LBPC

I am planning on creating levels to continue the story mode (for those who are wondering what happens next ). There's a lot more to do, even after the Collecter turned good!

http://i39.tinypic.com/wwepo2.jpg

Thanks to Tommy012345 (LittleBigWorkshop) for the picture!

The Boardwalk

After restoring peace to LittleBigPlanet, why don't you relax and play some games? Meet the next Creator Curator, Salty Sam. He owns his own Boardwalk and has invited you for saving the planet. But, all is not well at the Boardwalk. The clowns have been acting strange lately. You had better investigate.

Angry Clowns, Wacky Midway Games, and Thrilling Rollercoasters? How much cooler can a vacation get?!

The Ruins

You have been sent to The Ruins, where the next Creator Curator, Mucius, has requested your help. The Collecter completely trashed his place while he was still on the evil side. Mucius wants you to clean it up. Who knows? You might meet a few interesting people.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/littlebiggallery/images/4913/medium/1_002.jpg

Sackboy's on garbage duty.

The Fairytale

You return to The Gardens to say hello to the King and Queen, but something isn't right. Even the name has changed. Looks like you'll need some help to get past these famous stories and nursury rhymes!

The Woods

Welcome to The Woods. A terrifying place filled with strange noises and moving shadows, where you always have the feeling that something is following you. You up for it? It can't be that bad...right? You soon learn that there's more to this place than meets the eye.

The Final Battle

You have tracked a strange being to the middle of nowhere. Prepare for an spectacular battle that decides the fate of LittleBigPlanet. You'll need some help from some old friends for THIS fight!

This new bad guy is bigger, badder, and a lot meaner than the Collecter ever was!

Actually, you can get 1000000 points in #3 if you're sad enough.
It's at the part where you fight the helicopter, you can jump over the crates that fall down and go to the left. The brain of the crate will pop, giving you 50 points. If you go back to the chopper the crates will respawn, so you can repeat this for as long as you want and max out your score. Eventually.
Still amazing levels though!

- Unskippable intro. arg. Not good for replayability.
- I don't know what one of these hidden souls even looks like. The magic mouth was coming from a flower?..
- I wouldn't mock the player when the reason for death was a very wobbly bridge. Maybe just a "take your time" hint would be better.
+ Water looks nice when submerged.
- Camera angle on first pillar jump. Either flatten the angle, or put the starting ledge on the same layer.
+ Background looks nice.
- Extra foreground layer that looks walkable, and would help if you dragged the box. But it's fake. :/
+ I liked the plasma water hazards. But I would add a little more delay in the turn by just a fraction.
+ Secret area after the first R1 section. Great use of 3D glitch.
- Camera not so awesome when returning from above area.
+ I liked the platforming here, even if it was a little hard.
+ Loved the shape of the on/off lights in the next part.
- Don't know why the wheel direction reverts only sometimes.??
- Spikes on the moveable fan for some gosh darn reason. It's the incredibles spinny thing. You can barely see it spinning,
- Bad layer switching onto the furnace thing. (looks like a bottle)
- Spikes at the end of one of the conveyor belts is very hard to see. On second replay they are invisible. I'm guesing its another incredibles drill.
- The fire spikes that move up and down (when player is R1ing across) are also very hard to see.

Found three secrets.
- I am not told what/if the prize bubble is.
WTH @ infinite death?! Arg.

Similar story to the sequel. Nice visuals, gameplay could use some tweaking.
I enjoyed this one more though. It has less things to tweak.

First sentence on LBPC and it's about unskippable cutscenes.

"According to another blog post from Sony today, it'll be about another 6 days before that happens."

That was my first post, posted on 4/27/2011. Who else remembers the good old days of no PSN and leaked credit card info because of hackers?

finish and/or publish them? :3

The saddest part is it says its DELAYED, So I was expecting, oh, hes probably gonna finish it sometime October 2012, then I saw 2009, and im like, well, that idea is done ;_;

Totally unrelated, but I actually was planning on finishing them. I was trying to do it before LBPV came out, but that's unlikely. :kz:

This thread taught me two things....
1. I was a big noob back then ._.
2. I should really stop getting a break from this forum every 3 months.

Wow, that was quick!
Aah, so does newness effect the file size you are aloud to use? I think my limit is 9.8kb. The sig I got is 60-70kb!

I fail at signatures.

Wait, it looks like I was replying to someone. I don't trust my post archives.

World Conflict: Top-Down RTS: Skirmish SSTAGG1
The first actual RTS for LBP. Build a base and send out units to destroy your enemies. Variety of land and air units leads to some interesting strategies. Skirmish Mode fully functional, Defense Mode under construction (see my post in the projects section

***Moved my Tower Defense discussion to this project post: HERE (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=34446-World-Conflict-Tower-Defense-RTS-Discussion&p=597907#post597907)***

Game Overview:
World Conflict is a complete RTS with every element common in most conventional war strategy games (base building, unit moving, attacking, etc...). It's not perfect, but I did try to spice it up a little by adding trees which dissapear when hit by paintballs, and also editing the border to look more natural. I also included a behind the scenes look at my logic, its quite simple, but only because I spent a good day maximizing efficiency (and you could probably guess that THAT was fun...).
Each game mode (Skirmish, Campaign, Defense) will be a different level, as each will incorporate slightly different units/logic (and more importantly, because they are a nightmare on the thermometer). If successful, I may create more factions to play as/against (would be different levels as well).

Audio:
I tried something new with the audio, but I have a suspicion it will annoy some relaxed players (it's pretty much just sound effects spam due to the number of units shooting), so if anyone strongly dislikes it, tell me, it can change.

Skirmish Mode:
Fight an adjustable AI with land and air units. Build base defenses to prevent units from sneaking through, or just meet the enemy head on in a full out skirmish.

Pictures: (Battle 10 is the best) (Images are slightly out of date, made some changes since)

Artificial Intelligence:
I used a simple type of AI which just spawns units from the AI factory above the nearest player unit, but might update if I finish the priority AI I'm working on (emits the counter-units to player units at a faster rate, but lessens speed of others). The AI has a difficulty selector, and functions surprisingly well despite its simplicity (extremely hectic on Red difficulty, there is almost a constant stream of units coming at you).

Skirmish Mode Units: (Name-Description-Cost)

Land:
Light Tank: Cheap, weak, but powerful at short range - 1
Heavy Tank: Decent range and health - 6
Land-Cruiser: Triple-cannon juggernaught with long range - 10
Light Turret: Cheap, weak, but useful base defense - 3
Heavy Turret: Advanced base fortification, long range and high health - 6
Factory: Prebuilt location where units are constructed
Control Center: The central componant to your base, the game is over when the Control Center is destroyed
Wall: Cheap, strong fortification, but has no attack - 1

Air:
Fighter: Rapid-fire anti-air unit - 3
Bomber: Heavy anti-ground unit with devastating firepower - 15

Final Thoughts:
Even if its not the "Perfect" RTS, its still pretty cool to have made a game inside LBP. Needless to say, I enjoy it, and hope everyone else will too. The learning curve is steep, but what RTS isn't like that. My goal is to make this the "Total Annihilation (probably THE best RTS EVER made, past and present, and its over 12 years old!)" of LBP. Thanks to those who post ideas, help with mechanics, or find issues which need to be solved.

Future:
This level was just my attempt to create an RTS. With the coming split camera online game play, I am hoping to create a 4 player RTS where players compete against each-other (like pretty much everyone that's seen the videos). LBP2 will be awesome to create with, so expect to see some more 'gigs' (games-inside-games....am I even allowed to coin a term...?) after release (I've got some pretty devilish ideas I've never seen before, ever, so I'm excited).

F4F:
Main thing I want for feedback is the visuals. I've always been terrible at filling in a space , and was never any good at art, so any feedback on the visuals is welcome.
Not working on this level any more btw, so no more F4F.

Ah yes, I remember I tried to use all the font sizes, just to make it 'eye-catching'.

And oh god, lol, 'gigs'.
Too bad everyone who plays it now mistakes it for a LBP2, got so many negative reviews . Also, I never did finish defence mode, though I'm aiming to fix that with the sequel I'm making.

This is the second post I made after joining:

Well at least now we know that LBP is more likely coming in June, not April. Although I wouldn't complain if it did come out this month.

Maybe some Vita news will be revealed when the Journey pack comes out later this month? We can only hope.

Little did I know the ride I was in for.
