top-down controlinator help

now this seems really foolish, because ive seen plenty of other levels with this, but im trying to make a top-down level with sackbots in controlinators. my only issue is that i originally had the controlinators attatched to an invisible hologram, but this allowed the controlinator to pass through any object on the level (ie: walls, buildings, etc). to fix this, i put a piece of neon right under the controlinator and made it the thinnest layer possible as possible. this fixed the collision issue; however, since neon is solid, i had to bump the whole contraption up one level or else the neon would collide with the background. to better describe this, i basically have a background in the very back layer (no 3d) and then o i have the sackbot up at the next thin layer. i want to keep the neon thin, or else it looks really awkward. the problem with this is that it looks like the sackbot is floating over the background, whereas other levels ive seen make it look as if the sackbot is walking on the background. i know this is really long and complicated, but if you are able to decipher it, any help is greatly appreciated. thanks. | 2012-07-06 22:46:00 Author: macy_11 Posts: 21 |
So you want to have the players walk on the thin layer without them using the thick layer? Whenever I do top-down, I use theck for characters. It makes it look nice and I can still use all layers. | 2012-07-06 23:37:00 Author: Zero10100 Posts: 385 |
