No Invisible Material?

Archive: 11 posts

So.... is there no invisible material in lbp2?

I apologize if this has been posted or discussed before, I searched the forums but found nothing. I even searched the web and only found guy's making dark matter super thin, but that is a pain when you are trying to make something very precise.

There was invisible material in basic material section in lbpvita beta which was totally awesome btw, plus there is a glitch in psp that you can use to make invisible materials.

Can you tweak or use hologram or light matter as a substitute? Or any trick to make your own?

I am a total noob when it comes to creating in lbp2.

Minimise dark matter to as small as possible

Okay, that's what I thought. I am doing just that in a level I am working on, but it's not an easy task. My main issue is that after I minimize it, I can't grab it anymore, Hahaha!!

Seems strange that MM never added it to basic materials. It was incredibly useful in the vita beta.

When I need to make an invisible barrier with shrunken dark matter I'll glue a small triangle of holo (or sticker panel) set to 100% transparent so I have something to grab without having to resort to drag box selection.

As for getting a precise length, you can create it longer than needed and subtract to cut it down to the desired length.

If you just need to prevent layer switching you set a thin interior layer piece of holo or sticker panel to 100% transparent, and use the plasma hazard on it (turn off the plasma sound). It will be invisible in play and preview mode and will prevent sackboy from switching layers. Using this in combination with thick layer shrunken dark matter borders, you can create large invisible regions.

The proper invisible material in LBPV is certainly a welcome and much needed addition!

Hey I've got this glitch I've found and it makes any materials you want turn completely invisible but I can't teach you it because it is secret, and I dont want it being patched, but if you want it add me on psn and I will give it to you, just tell me who you are if your going to add me, and tell me what material(s) you want invisiblized and I'll do it my psn name is bluekangaroo14 and I believe I gave it away in my hub2012-07-07 11:18:00

Generally, MM and/or Tarsier don't patch bugs that are beneficial to the community. That's why things like the extra layers and the merge glitch are still available, despite these bugs existing for years. Only things that are totally gamebreaking or could be used for griefing are removed.

I'm sure I've read posts by other people claiming to have invisible, solid materials, but it seems that tutorials or explainations are really hard to come by, so there's no need to hold out on people.

Yeah it becomes practically impossible to grab material once it's so thin it's invisible.. just gotta drag over the whole shape, then it'll be all good to grab.

Hopefully the Vita pack will include a few features from LBP Vita, such as the invisible material and dephysicalizer. That would be really great. Is it at all possible, do you all think?2012-07-07 13:29:00

A single small grid square of Dark Matter is invisible, and I glue it to a square of 0% Brightness Hologram. I keep the grid on and use the block as a building block for invisible barriers.2012-07-12 17:19:00

There are two main types of invisible material in LBP2- those that can hold a decoration, and those that cannot.
DECO INVISIBLE MATERIALS:
-After some glitching, you can harvest invisible versions of glass, stone and metal from various Story objects, such as the hammer. (Lvl: "Invisible Selectable Materials" by BOSSYCUBEFARM)
-You can also create a form of invisible material using the Sticker or Holo Material by glitching it. It will change the properties of the sticker/holo material - Sackboy will be able to run through it, but it will have weight and interact with any other materials/objects as if it were solid. In Create Mode, take a square of Sticker/holo Material and place an Unprotected Brain on it while in "Play"mode. Destroy the brain, then immediately go into "Pause" mode. (L3)Copy the square, then un-pause. The original piece will self-destruct. You will be unable to capture the material after it has been glitched like this, but you can (L3) copy it within in the level. 0% Opacity = Invisible
-"Master Material Vault: Vault of Hidden and Glitched Materials" by JACOBJIMMY is a level you can copy which has samples of invisible materials in it, although none of them will hold a decoration. However, there IS a material in the level called "Return To Pod" Message Material. It is a green material on the right ledge, fifth in. This material can be captured. Place this material and change it to Sticker or Holo Material. It turns the sticker/holo material on 100% Brightness, 0% Opacity - it will show a sticker at full brightness or stay invisible, but the percentages cannot be altered. You can then glitch this material further if you wish, or combine it with non-deco invisible materials so that you can decorate them. (The annoying "Return to Pod" message will pop up occasionally; I'm still trying to find a way to turn that off.)

NON-DECO INVISIBLE MATERIALS:
-See "How To Make ANY Material Invisible (Tutorial)" by BADLITTLESACKBOY (You can combine any of the materials you create with the tool from this lvl with Sticker Material to create material which can hold a decoration.)
-Use the original Dark Matter method.
