Your Own Idea?!
Archive: 12 posts
Hi all! Soon it's will be almost a month, as I'm playing LBP2, and every day I am more and more want to create my own level. After LBP PSP, it is very difficult to come up with a good idea in LBP2 ... I'm starting to do the level, and soon realize that my idea is so boring ... So, I want to ask: How did YOU got the idea for a level? | 2012-07-04 19:57:00 Author: Muffin_-_Knight Posts: 104 |
I don't know. It's just there. Like a hobo in your trailer. | 2012-07-04 21:17:00 Author: Sackpapoi Posts: 1195 |
Take inspiration from other creators (that DOESN'T MEAN COPY *RAGE* lol) or take inspirations from activities/things around you That way its natural and hopefully but never totally unique. | 2012-07-04 21:34:00 Author: LittleBigSnooth Posts: 454 |
I like to play flash games or small indie games and when I find a game I like I try and see how I can improve on it but without right out ripping off the original, I even seen a few flash game remakes Little Big Planet like The Unfair Platformer Flash Game Website: http://armorgames.com/ | 2012-07-04 23:59:00 Author: Unknown User |
Inspiration can come from anywhere, your mind just has to be open to accepting ideas. | 2012-07-05 03:35:00 Author: Cobaltor Posts: 222 |
ENCOURAGEMENT You're bound to see similar ideas, but that doesn't mean that any one creator has a monopoly on an idea, or that even a very good execution of it should discourage you from pursuing your own vision -- nor should you feel like you have to change your vision after discovering someone did the exact same thing. Because in reality, they didn't; that's a distorted realignment of brain molecules. There's science behind that, the whole thing about how everything gets warped on a molecular level just by being observed, due to the laws of perception. Better said: Other people may have your idea, but so long as you are YOU and they are someone else, your idea won't have actually be done until you do it. So do it! Never mind the overlap. Never mind if your mental version of the thing seems exactly like someone else's actual version. That's just a coincidence due to there being 7 billion human beings on the planet, or 7 million levels on LBP anyway. I know it sounds like a feel good platitude from a 1990s high school counselor, but we really are all unique creative snowflakes. (We are also all doomed to blend together in the storm of other snowflakes or be obliterated in a puff of steam, but that's the nihilistic 1990s music video-turned-movie director platitude, heh heh.) HOW I DO IT My inspiration comes while away from the PS3, and once I have the idea, I don't play anyone else's levels until I'm done building it. I also don't really watch TV, or movies, or listen to music, or play other games once I'm in create mode. I stop socializing. I skip meals. My life is purely building a level, until it's done. There are exceptions of course, but it's like an author locking himself in a hotel for a month to work on a book. No distractions, nothing to depress me or kill my motivation. It's why I have to quit LBP for long periods between creating levels. I need to balance out my life again! And while my life is balanced I have another idea and shut everything down for a few weeks so I can just create another level. | 2012-07-05 05:53:00 Author: Unknown User |
Wow, I am very pleased to see that so many people responded to my little survey. Everyone has their own way to create, but you can find something in common. Thank you all! Now, I know how other creators are working on their levels, and I decided to wait until I find really APPROPRIATE idea for me And thanks again! | 2012-07-05 07:35:00 Author: Muffin_-_Knight Posts: 104 |

Improvisation. Start with a basic idea, then let your brain do the rest. | 2012-07-05 19:11:00 Author: lemurboy12 Posts: 842 |

If you created any LBP levels on the PSP that you thought were good, just re-make them in LittleBigPlanet 2 with added features, but if you're trying to make a new level: 1. Decide on Theme Decide on the type of setting(s) (eg. desert, ocean) and think about how you will present it (lighting, fog) 2. Decide on Story/Conflict A great way to make your level much more enjoyable is by adding a story, it doesn't have to be amazing to add to your level. eg. A villian is taking over the world and you have to stop him 3. Create Concept Sketches Creating a basic sketch of your level helps A LOT when it comes to creating it, it doesn't have to look good, just try to draw what you think your level will look like, where obstacles will be, etc. | 2012-07-07 01:25:00 Author: Unknown User |
