Happy 4th of July/ Independence Day/ Blow Up Shiny Crap In The Sky Day, y'all.

Today, we celebrate the day when America claimed independence from Britain, the creation of the Declaration of Independence, and all things American. A day when the Stars and Stripes flutters over most households and heads, as people from all over the nation sing patriotic songs and eat stereotypical things (like hot dogs, watermelons, and Denny's). A day where we celebrate freedom in the means of millions of bright, colorful bombs blowing up in our airways and thus ripping yet another large hole in the ozone layer (some of them being imported from Mexico).

As for me, I'm gonna be busy on the grill today, cooking up steaks and corn and other American likes. How will you celebrate the 4th? (Provided you celebrate it at all...)

I did stuff. I went to this huge gathering, and stood around for a bit, sipping soda like a sir. Too early to see fireworks though.
At least I didn't nearly get sploded like last year. It was like a war out there. Everywhere you looked things were exploding. I COULDN'T MUNCH MY CORN IN PEACE!

Tonight we're having kebabs and corn on the cob! Unfortunately we live in a dry bushy area so most fireworks are illigal and the official firework show provided by the county isn't as spectacular as other places. I guess with good reason too, even with this lower key show the hill they fire them off of has managed to catch fire a few times. XD2012-07-04 22:08:00

I would be going to my cousins for a BBQ and swim party, but I have to go to this community firework thing instead >_<2012-07-04 22:12:00

Because there have been a buttload of fires in Utah and surrounding areas, domestic fireworks are prohibited this year. (Which sucks because this is our second year of legalized aerials). ;_;

So, we're going to hike up a mountain to watch the city fireworks instead.

Wait, you are all saying that, like, when independence day comes in your country, you actually go out celebrate and explode fireworks? You telling me that you don't just stay at home enjoying the holiday because whatever? Ya'll crazy! 2012-07-04 23:52:00

Had some wonderful BBQ ribs and all the fixin's. All home made and now relaxing. Might step outside later to see if we can see any of the official fireworks and keep the hose handy in case any of the neighbors are stupid enough to set off their own. Heat outside of 99 today and dry as a bone everywhere. This county as well as many others around where I live are under a no fireworks of any kind warning.

Just too dang hot!!!

HOW COME NO ONE ASKED ME HOW MY CANADA DAY WAS?

WE HAVE FIREWORKS TOO!

I'm slightly mock offended.

We ate food. (Delicious BBQ ribs and delicious stake. And several variations of salad. With cheesecake.) We went to the official fireworks on Saturday, which was weird, and confusing, but whatever. Watched/slept through a documentary.2012-07-05 01:46:00

Yes, same.

Well, my CANADA DAY fireworks were great! I was at my friends cottage, and my friends uncle set off fireworks, and almost blew himself up by accident.

I feel bad for the rest of the US. Its burning at 100 degrees +, and over here in California its in the mid 70's.

No wonder they say we have the best weather in the US.

I saw fireworks from Angels Stadium and Disneyland, too. :3

America suks!!!!

Just kidding of course, hope you all (y'all ) had a nice day and didn't get attacked by any space aliens, because Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith are getting on a bit now and might not be able to save you all should a repeat happen.

It's quite hot here today, aswell... nowhere near reaching those temps though! A welcome change after having the wettest June "since records began".

Later last night we found that the local show was back on since we finally got a good soaking recently. They had originally cancelled everything including the official shows, but since we got a bit of rain (about an inch or so, which was the first of any real amount for over 2 months) they decided it was safe for the official show.

So we drove around and found a great spot that nobody else had thought of and watched the show from our car with the engine running to keep us cool. Even that late at night it was still like 98 out. ugh...

We could watch it from home, since we are less than 2 miles from the site of the show, but we have these huge pine trees out in the back that hides a low industrial complex. Might sound awful, but really keeps our backyard terribly private. No houses behind us!! ..and the factory makes kitchen cabinet tops. No noise!! ..and can't see the buildings really at all. lol

lol epic fail in San Diego. They set off their entire firework show at once in one massive explosion LOL!

We had illegal fireworks to watch from our neighbors who spend thousands of dollars every year on the things haha. They almost lit our trees on fire XD
