Those Annoying little LBP Habits

Archive: 26 posts

Hello everyone,

This thread or Topic may have been asked before, but I was wondering what everyone's little annoying habits are on LBP?

I for one have this REEEEALLLLYYY annoying OCD/Habit were I have to go back and get that One little score bubble if it is left on it's own!! Lmao, laugh if you will it's a real pain.

Has anyone else got a habit or obsession that they would like to share?

Kind Regards,

Liam

Why would you even go back for a score bubble? I don't think increasing your score by 10 points is that important.

I'm obsessed with decorations and stickers, I hate having blank spot on my work.

I suck at keeping focused on my building, and I tend to become disappointed in my levels in the middle of building them, so I trash em. There are moments when I'm satisfied, though. :hero:2012-07-02 21:44:00

I am exactly the same mate lol. I must have at least 4 nicely detailed levels that I will never finish .

The Reason I go back for the last score bubble is just too make the level look cleaner lol I said it was weird haha

Must. Get. Every. PRIZE BUBBLE!

Everything I make must have some sort of animation, because I hate when things are completely still.

Swing on a sponge once to test the momentum, then again to jump. Sometimes test more than once. Result: perfectly swing over the next platform but still not letting go from the sponge.2012-07-03 00:41:00

I have an annoying habit of having to make sure everything I create has good detail and is accurate, this can be a pain as I make sack-sized things, like arcades, cars, trees, etc. Also since I'm always adding detail as I go along, my thermo usually jumps up to halfway when making a level, which doesnt help much since I already have trouble finishing levels I make in the first place.2012-07-03 02:29:00

Microchips! Place 'em everywhere! I don't like those three counters there, I'll microchip that, maybe place that in another microchip along with the other microchips with microchips in them.

I love my microchips, except when I open them up.

*Presses R1 a few times*
*Opens wrong microchip*
*Accidentally closes entire microchip while looking for a microchip within a microchip*
Grrr!
*Presses R1 some more*

I have a compulsive habit of running back and forth in the pod, making it sway. Even when I'm by myself. I also do this OCD thing while I'm in build mode and testing a level, I'll keep hopping my sackthing from the back layer to the front layer, then back again. Sometimes hundreds of times. It's like a trance, while I'm zoning out or thinking about how to create.

Hop hop. Back layer.

Hop hop. Front layer.

I CAN'T NOT DO IT

Lol some funny stuff here haha. I always thought it would be fun to hear about other people habits. I also have to make sure that all dialogue and spellings/Grammar are used in the correct way and that the detail description over sells the level even if it is not that good. 2012-07-03 09:45:00

Like Lbphart, I play my songs over and over and keep changing them until i'm satisfied. Even then, I'm not fully satisfied because they're nowhere near as good as what else is out there.

An annoying (unintentional) habit I have is selecting the stickers menu in the popit, when I mean to select sticker panel.

I also have a habit where whenever there is a slight annoying hiccup in my creating process, I'll stop doing any proper creating for days. No wonder it takes me so long to make a level!

Also (don't if this counts as an annoying habit) I've very secretive over my levels. I won't let anyone see my work until its ready for testing. Look at some of the help threads I've created in the past, and see how vague I am about what I'm actually trying to do. I try and word my problems so I don't give anything away about my project!

I'm disorganized as hell with my logic. When I make logic for anything, I usually start out neat and organized, making sure everything is nicely spaced and not messy and in the middle of the circuitboard and symmetrical and stuff.

But if there's bugs with the logic or something goes wrong and I have to rework a lot of stuff and add new logic I just go "**** it" and stop organizing altogether:

Sometimes it gets so bad I can barely understand it.

Yup, after a good 20 minutes my neatly organised logic becomes a hurricane of wires and circuit boards. But it comes second to my inability to be persistent in creating, I'll usually make a section of level, then play it 20 times before I decide to continue creating. Lazy, lazy, vain me.

I can't get remotely far enough without forgetting how my own logic works. I top it off with something, look back, and become confused and pee myself because I screwed myself over by not knowing what did what. AND WHEN I TRY TO FIX IT IT BECOMES WORSE! It's like cleaning a pudding stain off your shirt!

Also like JamesDNaux said, I also have a habit of making sure that (nearly) every detail is in place as I build. It's not so much annoying to me though, it's more like a way of working. Some people build the simple basics and go all the way back to place all the details, and some people plan every single thing out beforehand, but I find both to be too difficult and restraining to me. Only thing is that it takes SOOO long, but it's sort of worth it, and it helps to keep me from trashing the level--another annoying habit.

I have this OCD habit where I have to make everything an even number,I never do 2.I usually do it 4 times, like I open a microchip on accident,I have to open it 3 more times. It's really a pain due to lacking me down in create,I could've made something instead of opening and closing a microchip -_-2012-07-04 07:33:00

Lol this is actually very common. A lot of people in other aspects of life have the need to be even. I.e. Turning a tap 4 times, closing a car door twice, checking if a door is shut more than once etc. . I had this problem, not in LBP, but outside of the PS3 and I eventually just convincing -myself to stop I.e. Walking away

Every object I make is made using the grid until it's exactly how I want it, and then I use the corner editor for about 10 minutes making it perfect, and then never use the object for anything...

It's not a bad habit, but it can be irritating when I realize how much time I wasted... :/

Ha, that's something I can definitely relate with.

I can't think of any habits I have, other than loads of playtesting.

It's good to see that a lot of other people have those little habits, although most of them are good habits and can result in a more reliable and bug free level . I am glad I made this thread now cus it was nice to hear a tiny part of your individual creation process 2012-07-07 11:07:00

I have this really sad habit of working on a level that I was really excited about, but leaving it to rot on my moon afterwards. That's why I still have no levels! I can't sit down on a chair and play LBP for 2 days straight anymore. I always have to change games or I'll start to go insane.2012-07-07 15:14:00

Yeah that seems to the pain of LBP. For some people it comes really really easy to just sit down and play and create something amazing whereas I am the same as you. It really is a pain but it also feels a lot better when you finally get something out there that you feel proud to call your own.
