New super mario bros 2

hey guys. mario bros 2 has been announced for awhile but no one said a word. mario bros 2 is the same fun platforming game from ds,wii, and soon wii u. why is 3ds called 2? ds version never said "ds" in the name and it's portable so it makes sense for 3ds. wii version had "wii" in it and wii u haves "wii U" .
anyway 2 is for the 3ds and 2 haves a new objective...coin collecting.

will this ruin the game or not? looks very cool and awesome but it's so unusual. for me it makes things better.

its strange that nintendo, the ones usually leading in innovation has basically been releasing the same exact game so many times. the mario formula, whilst great fun will quickly become old. when top competitors such as lbp have features allowing for infinite content, you really need to step up to the mark, and they simply havent done.2012-07-02 16:06:00

Its really all COD fault.

Its less the gameplay that I'm worried about and more the art style. This looks exactly the same as the first two games, and the one coming for Wii U. The least they could do is try a new art style or something, even though Mario's looked the same for years now, thinking back to Super Mario 1-3 and World, they each looked different. At the very least, they should try changing it, every Mario game nowadays has you ending the level on a flagpole like the first game, why not try something like the third game? Or hell, I'd love to see a New Super Mario World, bring back the cape and end posts!2012-07-03 02:36:00

yea. well you know what they say which destroys or saves stuff. "why fix what isn't broken" nintendo does'nt even know that it's broken. they kinda changed it for some stuff like spider webs. im still getting 2 for some reasons.
1. coin battle. nintendo said they will make a new stage everyday but we don't know when that starts.
2. power ups. looks stuning when the returning suit from 3 and 3d land return. the coin power ups seems new and fun.
3. gameplay. i always loved the gameplay since the ds of new mario bros. might be the same which is sad but fun.
4. 3d effects would look great like every other 3ds mario game.
5. the street pass idea of challenging who collects most coins seems like a good challenge and the collect 1,000,000 coins seems like an objective to do once you beat bowser in the final level.

im hoping it will have a multiplayer kinda like the one on the ds and maybe online multiplayer would really bring someone to buy the game if they added it.

the wii u seems fun too and i heard a rumor (atleast i think it's a rumor) about it having a level editor.

Meh, to me it just seems like they're phasing out the DS for the 3DS, which was expected. Looks like now is the time I leave Nintendo. It's been fun.2012-07-03 12:58:00

no. kinda like lbp1 just without the tools just platforming.

I know I haven't owned a game since Super Mario 64, but I've always held Mario close despite not playing his newer games. There's just something about his character/world that is so charming and fun. I guess that's why I like Sackboy and Craftworld, it has a similar feeling(although the 2 are barely comparable).

What I'm concerned with though is how many Mario games are coming out lately. It used to be rare to get a Super Mario game. For example, after Super Mario World came Mario 64. After Mario 64 came Mario Sunshine. After that came Mario Galaxy. And now there came Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Mario Land 3D, New Super Mario Bros 2, and New Super Mario Bros U. All of those games are in a 5 or so year span.

I'm not saying too much Mario games is a bad thing, but Nintendo is kind of overusing him. The least they could do is make the NSMB series look diverse from each other. Remember(for you older gamers) playing Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, and 3? They are barely the same games, graphic/design wise.

I just don't want Nintendo to lose that spark they have with Mario that makes his games so fun and genuine feeling. It makes me feel like they aren't putting as much effort anymore to innovate him.
