Level review website/page thingy

Archive: 11 posts

Wouldnt it be cool to have website focussed on custom levels, people can submit em there, with photo's and a discription that kind of stuff.

And have assigned people that will play/test the level and leave a decent review about that level,
focussing on lighting, gameplay, decoration, theme, difficulty, funfactor etc.

If you have a small crew of reviewers that write honest and well written reviews you can filter out the bad from the good.

maybe a rating system from 1 - 10, so if you want to find something really good.. you should be able to do a search on levels rated 8 or higher for instance.

Level of the month, level of the week (maybe?).
And preferable a list for each week/month.

That will certainly attract mayor amounths of editing people and people looking for good levels to play.

All editors should have to do is submit a .zip with a max of 3 photo's in them, and a discription in .txt for instance that will be posted on the website.

obviously you will need a few moderators going trough the levels to see if people are copycat-ing or posting rubbish.

We have the Community Spotlights, If you don't know.
And this thread is dedicated to it :- https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=5939

It's pretty much the same as what you suggested IMHO.

I was talking about a dedicated webpage,
not just a forum.

It really makes a difference, Just like nalicity was for the ut99/2003/3004 community.
A page/website really focussed on the editing part will attract mayor people towards the forums.

And as people stated to me when I write a long post,
its TL dr.

Maybe it could become a sub-site, and acces it via the main site.

But I'd rather stick to the Spotlight though.

This would do wonders for the level reviews and visibility of good levels. But it's a lot of work to get something like that working. I fully support this idea.2009-01-15 19:50:00

This sounds a good deal like LittleBigCreation (some of you may remember). It was a drupal-based blog that allowed users to submit, rate, and sort levels, ideas, etc. However, it wasn't used much at all; in fact, it only had 20 or so user submitted articles in the month it was up. No addon exists for vBulletin (that I am aware of) that allows users to submit information (levels, in this case) to an easily sortable and searchable database, and I am not eager to split the site in two. The only way we'd add this is if submitted levels could be automatically posted as "threads" of some sort, in a forum. Like I said, I don't think an addon exists that would accomplish the task, and we have no plans to expand outside of vBulletin.2009-01-16 00:10:00

If you guys want to get it set up on your own, feel free, but I'm not promising official support from LBPCentral as there is no assurance of quality or usefulness at the moment.
