It doesn't matter either way does the same thing, I guess its at your discretion which way would best suit you

I guess with adding the shapes on top of one another, it automatically has them glued, which in lbp1 before the advanced glue might have been desireable. The only other thing is that when you add the shape in, there might be less corner editing involved to make them mesh smoothly, depending on the situation. I agree with damaz though, either way works.
