That extremely unpleasent moment when...

You make a level and play test it a billion times, then show it off to your friends before you get it ready to publish and everything ends up not working like it did. Emitters don't emit, things breaking for no reason, explosions, chaos, zombies, Bill Cosby comes into your room and takes your bottled water... Yeah. That just happened to me... (Well, maybe not everything) I'm sure something like this has happened to all of us at one point... right? | 2012-06-22 05:39:00 Author: Tmjtk Posts: 258 |
Bill Cosby always takes my bottled water He really needs to get out of my house, it's getting kind of creepy. | 2012-06-22 05:50:00 Author: JamesDNaux Posts: 757 |
Yeah, things start spontaneously combusting in my levels too. Sometimes LBP decides not to work for you and derp around. You just have to test it multiple, MULTIPLE times and make sure it works as it should every time. | 2012-06-22 13:33:00 Author: Sackpapoi Posts: 1195 |
No matter how many times I test a level, no matter how much I try to find faults, how I purposely set out to create mistakes, and ruin everything I touch, I find nothing - and then someone else plays it and just stumbles upon an error without trying. I blame everyone but me. | 2012-06-22 14:01:00 Author: Ironface Posts: 432 |
Happens all the time, sometime when I haven't played it for a month or so and I realise everyone who has played it has probably come across it in that time. | 2012-06-22 16:47:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
Hate it when that happens..At least though it makes the level that much better when you find it. | 2012-06-22 18:31:00 Author: Unknown User |
That rarely happens to me, but yeah I play test after every new stuffz I add. Place a block - play test - corner edit - play test - Attach a piston - Play test - Realize I don't need a piston there and delete it - Play test - ... Back to serious, I DO play test after every platformer thingy or system I add and keep working on it until it works in play mode and then I move on. Not finding a solution for a problem makes me want to smash my ps3 with a hammer though. | 2012-06-22 18:36:00 Author: nysudyrgh Posts: 5482 |

I blame everyone but me. My gosh, I hate those kinds of players. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you were describing, but it's something along those lines. Those players who act like bug hunters in every level they play, purposely setting out to find holes or bugs. And then they make it public and everyone starts taking a picture of it like they discovered a new planet. It's really quite rude IMO, but I guess it's helpful. As long as they don't take so much pride in it. When the boo feature was still available, most of them would actually boo the level because of it. | 2012-06-22 18:46:00 Author: Sackpapoi Posts: 1195 |
I hunt bugs, but usually for the benefit of the creator, and I don't go "OMG UR LEVEL IZ BROKEN TROLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLJOHN MADDENOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!111!!1!!!!ONE!!!1!". I'll say things like "It's pretty good, but there's an error with (insert fault here) you might want to fix that". | 2012-06-23 13:05:00 Author: Unknown User |

Ah yes, those kinds of people are detestable to the extreme! But luckily I, personally, haven't run into any just yet, I meant visitors (whom I promptly force to play my levels) who accidentally stumble upon dozens of mistakes which I had no idea existed - and unlike I, they weren't even looking for errors, no matter how many times we play them, they'll always be ruined by players...! | 2012-06-23 13:26:00 Author: Ironface Posts: 432 |
I hate how this happens. I play tested my Bioshock level after every little thing i added and had it playtested constantly by 10 or more people. I tested it solid for three months. After i had finished it i tested it over and over and found no issues then after publishing people founds heaps of issues. Really annoying. I have a level i'm making now that i haven't tested for a few months. Last time i played it it worked fine now it has destroyed itself in an atomic explosion. | 2012-06-23 14:30:00 Author: Lordwarblade Posts: 761 |

See, that's what I do, and then a couple of weeks or so after being published, one person goes "I found this bug, I uploaded a picture." I fix that, without realising that's broken something else. Then the whole process starts again. | 2012-06-25 10:44:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
I've found an easy workaround for myself here. I don't punblish levels. | 2012-06-25 13:13:00 Author: Valeview Posts: 1581 |
Vale - you STILL haven't published your 3rd level? :O | 2012-06-25 13:29:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
This happens on everysingle level i make. Bugs are my weakness, because a few of my friends can break anything, including finished levels, and it can get so fustrating. Im glad im not the only one, though! | 2012-06-25 17:39:00 Author: Unknown User |
The game seems think play mode on a level on your moon, create mode in preview, and a published level are completely different things, even though they should be the same (Admittedly, you can use all the create mode tools in create mode in preview, but other than that, it should be no different). I've published levels that seemed to develop bugs because they were published. A special case is How Media Molecule got the Idea for the Negativitron, a movie I made. I didn't have the motion recorder at the time, so to make complex motions I had to use a sackbot acting in a controlinator. Turns out this was as imprecise as hell. The motion was always slightly different, even though it should be exactly the same. This resulted in me trying to fix and fix my level over and over again with no luck. Eventually when the motion recorder came out, it was extremely precise and I was able to fix my movie. | 2012-06-25 18:28:00 Author: Kalawishis Posts: 928 |
Vale - you STILL haven't published your 3rd level? :O For some strange reason...I read Vale as Valve. Anywho, I had a friend who just about found every bug there was to be found in my levels, funny thing is, he wouldn't even try. Everytime it was an accident! He'd just be walking or something and then BAM he finds a bug randomly. Anyone else who played my levels would never run into any bugs. | 2012-06-25 18:38:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
EXACTLY! I am making a Godzilla level, but every time I play it, all the building literally EXPLODE! I can't find out why, but it's not too bad cuz' it's godzilla, buildings are supposed to explode. | 2012-06-25 21:39:00 Author: Unknown User |
I've found an easy workaround for myself here. I don't punblish levels. Good strategy.. I might try that! | 2012-06-25 22:00:00 Author: Deurklink1 Posts: 346 |
I don't punblish levels. What is publishing? Is it like a level with a bunch of bad puns in it? | 2012-06-27 05:03:00 Author: Kalawishis Posts: 928 |
What is publishing? Is it like a level with a bunch of bad puns in it? The irony here is very enjoyable I've found an easy workaround for myself here. I don't punblish levels. But the world needs to see your doodles! | 2012-06-27 18:59:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
I have yet to run into bug hunters, but I think that can be attributed to having merely one level that only 50 people have played. Oh wait. Somebody did have an issue that I fixed, but I wouldn't call it a glitch or a bug. | 2012-06-27 19:39:00 Author: DreadRandal Posts: 434 |
What is puNblishing? Is it like a level with a bunch of bad puns in it? Yes. I have a terrible sense of humour, and use puns to the extreme. That, and alliteration, also awesome. | 2012-06-28 14:04:00 Author: Valeview Posts: 1581 |
