Make Those Lists People!

Archive: 37 posts

I'm constantly scouting LBP.me for new levels when I'm not on LBP2, but today I decided I would try a new approach. Usually I select the type of level I want and filter out what I don't, which does throw up some gems occasionally but not as many as I would like. So, I'm now hooked on lists!!!

We all know the respected creators out there, those people that just astound us constantly with their imaginative game mechanics and their fresh take on what can and can't be done with LBP2. My first port of call was WeirdyBeardy. Out of interest, I just wanted to see what he liked playing and luckily he does bother with the lists... and what a great collection he has. many of them i've never played before.

But many many big creators are NOT making lists and I find this a real shame. what we have here is infinitely better than MMpicks or any other hub levels that people put together. no disrespect to them (their work is of great worth) but these lists are incredible providing the source is credible.

So, I call for all of you to consider the potential here and start compiling lists of all the great levels you have played. I intend to do this from now on myself because like a lot of other people I've largely overlooked this amazing new feature that could revolutionise finding levels.

let me explain, If someone doesn't have a list they still *should* have a hearted level list anyone can look at, lists are helpful for organising and sharing. Like a top ten racers, etc. Because people choose not to create any lists doesn't mean you can't find quality levels by looking through their hearted list.

Believe me, I'm making lists as fast as I can.

So far I have nine.

I'm hand-picking levels from my hearted list and sticking them into different categories.

It's

slow

progress.

A lot of people wil put levels that they havent hearted but are still cool into their lists. Also you can queue the entire list which is quick and easy.

Are you saying that the list feature is private, similar to the favorites list on YouTube? I know people can go through your hearted list, but still. Because there are still multiple ways to find good levels.

Those lists are kind of useless without in-game support and specially with 40-level limit, but they help at least with easy queuing. They will be more useful when they gonna implemented in game2012-06-22 04:34:00

..ehem* It is often that several big creators do not make very big or useful hearted lists or lists.. So many of them are not actually very good sources of great levels outside of their own..

I like to use it for the same organization reasons as many of you do, but was kinda disappointed in it's lack of in game integration. Hopefully it will at some point but regardless I will still happily update and add to my lists and check out others.

....wait a minitue Mr. Gribblegrunger.. You only have 1 list of 5 levels! What gives!?

LOL! I've just made a start. I want my favourite list to be a really good list and so I avoided just filling it up for the sake of it. I have many more to add yet, but I need to go through my hearted levels to find them all. it doesn't help that I can't remember what they are actually called, so I'm having to play them all again to pick out the best...

anyway, I have made a HUGE list in my stickied tutorial thread!!! I've served and served hard.

I have a bit of a unique list provided you have a good sense of humor. I call it Tondemo-levels (http://lbp.me/t/6q4b), levels that are amusing for reasons unintended by the author. This is not a collection of bad levels. No, that would be too easy. This is a list of levels that go far beyond the call of duty, and end up being special. In other words, this list is a celebration, not a mere compilation, of serious levels that, for some some reason or another, end up being good in the most bizarre way possible.

If you think this is just me being mean, that's not true. I thoroughly enjoy all of these levels. Provided you have a good enough sense of humor, you will too.

I have made 4 lists so far. These lists include...

Music levels http://lbp.me/t/6m05

Puzzle levels http://lbp.me/t/6sw6

Multiplayer VS levels http://lbp.me/t/6sz9

And PS Move levels http://lbp.me/t/60ev

Anyway, Is there a limit as to how many levels can be put in a list?

IAnyway, Is there a limit as to how many levels can be put in a list?

A single user may create up to twenty lists. The number of published lists may be seen at the top of a profile beside the number of published levels.

Info from:

http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBP.me

I'm not sure if it tells how many actual levels can be listed but it may be a place to start.

come on people, I'm serious. Let's pull this thing together and make it a feature on LBPcentral. Everyone should have a 'favourites' list at least in their sig. Just add to it as you play more great levels. Imagine if we all had these list. Wouldn't it be great to instantly find out what other people like to play and find levels you didn't know existed?

DO IT PEOPLE. NOW! MAKE THOSE LISTS!!

Once in a while I have a desire to play games from my past, but I usually lack the equipment needed to play them. Luckily LBP2 has provided us with plenty of tools and a nice little set of retro sounds, and thankfully there are some awesome creators out there who know exactly what to do with them.

So without further ado, here's a link to my list:

It's nice to know that MM is promoting the List feature w/a few awards, at least in a special 'you must be in the know' type of way.

put them in your sig people... come on

I was enlightened to the potential for lists by Biorogue's Great Pin Ball Table Blog, which inspired a blog of my own and then I stumbled upon the cute little imperative request of this thread. I considered implementing a link within the sig besides my previous post which contains the link, and the blog that I've previously posted which also contains the link, but I also considered that I do not consistently post enough for it to matter. Yet after returning to this thread to see if anyone else may have posted up a list and reading a comment that seemed a little distressed and sad, I decided to 'go the extra centimeter' , and add my LBP.me list to my sig space. Hopefully this action will ease someone's tension, and put a mentally healthy smile upon their face.

Hopefully you'll feel a bit better, Gribble.

I now have two "seasons" of Tondemo-levels. The first one used to be full, but some people have since deleted their beautiful levels. The jist of it is that these are levels that are entertaining for reasons not intended by the author.

@GribbleGrunger You can queue directly from the published levels list.

@Mr Reluctant It was a job that needed to be done. It wasn't pretty, but after several aneurysms and lost friendships I compiled a respectable list.

Just go to the level you want to add on LBP.me. Click the list at the top right and tick the catagory you want it in (add to list). Done. If you haven't already got a list just create one in the box provided (create new list)

When you've done that, add it into your sig

No category appears. I can't tick anything because nothing is made there to tick. It may be a bug with my browser.
EDIT: Yea, it's a browser bug. I used Firefox instead of Chrome and it worked now.

I did not know that ;p But then, Ive never used the feature XD

I have one dedicated to levels that shouldn't be played.

Actually, Id really like an perma-anti-queue feature for such things :o Although Id settle for a filter that removes rather than seeks out. I dont think Ill ever have the desire to play "lol sex" and "h4h house" "kill *** bieber" ... Maybe some are funny (Thanks for the list bonner, Im intrigued now!), otherwise such a feature would make using newest level/lucky dip a lot more pleasant.

Hmmm...I would make a list, but that would mean actually playing some levels, so...um...no.

I know I'm a bad member of the "community", but I'm way too busy making my own to play anyone elses.
