[SOLVED-Video Inside] How to get a sticker panel to follow and orbit a player?

Hi there. I'm working on a level and I'm wondering how I can get a piece of sticker panel (My custom object) to orbit around sackboy as he continues his journey escaping a cave. I want the sticker panel to float around him nicely. I've seen this effect in an MM pick but I can't find the level. I don't want it to orbit round in the same pattern though. Has anyone got any suggestions? EDIT: The levels was called Obscurity. I also like Little Big Fantasy - Goddess war. This seems like a solution that would not have a lot of finesse, but what if you have your object attached to an invisible block via a rotator or whatever you need. You are close, The follower will be too focused with the player and the rotator won't work at all if they are both on the same object. What you want is 2 holographs and/or sticker panels bolted together with a motor bolt. One holds the follower, the other will have the visible sticker panel glued onto it (preferbly in a circle shape so it gives it a circular motion). I made one a long time ago so my memory is a little fuzzy, if it doesn't work maybe try a regular bolt (and maybe with a 0% strength) instead of a motor and put a rotator on the layer that holds the visible sticker panel. I have a video showing it for a few seconds. My favorite solution (used in several levels) is to have a piece of invis holo set to follow the player. On this holo is 4 or 5 tags (labled 1-5 or whatever). On the object to orbit the player, have a repeating timer cycle through a selector switch. Each output on the selector switch is a follower for each tag. If you set the acceleration and deceleration just right, it gives a nice floating effect. I'd go with having an invisible object, tagged, following the player, or, put the tag on a controlled sackbot. The orbiting object will have a long range look-at rotator at a reasonable fast turning rate, aiming for this tag. It will also have a basic mover, set to local space, reasonably fast, and aroud, say, 80-90% acceleration and deceleration. This will cause the object to behave like a homing missile that continues to aim for, pass by or pass through its target, turning around as it flies away from it. With a bit of tweaking, it could look real nice. Just make sure that this orbiting object is nonphysical (i.e., holo, decorations, pin light) and starts at a small distance from the sackbot in order to make speed. | 2012-06-17 14:46:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
