Q about followers
Archive: 10 posts
In theory, if I have an object that has a follower attached set to follow a specific tag, and then I place t a series of those tags, if I emit the object, will it follow the tags? I just tried this and the object went to the first tag and stopped. Maybe I don't understand the operation of Followets? ? | 2012-06-15 02:19:00 Author: SirGreenDay ![]() Posts: 144 |
You will need to turn the first tag off when the object reaches it and then turn the next one on. Otherwise it will follow the nearest one. | 2012-06-15 02:55:00 Author: Zero10100 ![]() Posts: 385 |
It will always follow the closest target in range. If you set the emitted items to a low lifespan, so that as the next is emitted, the first disappears, that might do what you want. Or, set it to max of 1 at a time, destroy oldest when max is reached...that might work too. | 2012-06-15 02:56:00 Author: Brannayen ![]() Posts: 438 |

Tags have inputs so you can activate them just like anything else. | 2012-06-15 03:13:00 Author: Zero10100 ![]() Posts: 385 |
Tags have inputs so you can activate them just like anything else. I asked how do you DEactivate them? The tags are activated by the follower, but how do you then deactivate the tag once the follower passes it? | 2012-06-15 03:48:00 Author: SirGreenDay ![]() Posts: 144 |
A tag sensor on the object could cycle a selector wired to each tag, activating the next one in the path while deactivating the last. | 2012-06-15 04:23:00 Author: Zero10100 ![]() Posts: 385 |
A tag sensor on the object could cycle a selector wired to each tag, activating the next one in the path while deactivating the last. To do this, each tag would have to be unique, correct? Since the Follower can only follow 1 tag at a time, i don't see a way this would work. | 2012-06-15 17:00:00 Author: SirGreenDay ![]() Posts: 144 |
You put a tag on the object that is following, and attach a tag sensor with the same name and color to each point you want the follower to go to, then you connect the tag sensor to a perm switch which then passes through an inverter which connects to the tag which the follower is set to. The follower arrives at the first tag, and the first tag is switched off by the presence of the follower so the follower moves to the next tag. I'll try to get pictures. | 2012-06-15 17:06:00 Author: Kern ![]() Posts: 5078 |

As long as the selector deactivates them, the follower will ignore them, and when it gets in range of the next tag, it will deactivate and go to the next. | 2012-06-15 17:40:00 Author: Zero10100 ![]() Posts: 385 |
