LBP2 Profile Transfer using Data Transfer (ethernet) - HELP PLEASE
Archive: 6 posts
Hey there, my old PS3 has been having problems with the disc drive, and recently it has stopped reading discs, aka it does not load up LBP2. I have my original profile intact on this PS3, so I decided to transfer all the info to another, different PS3. By using the data transfer option on the PS3, I was able to get everything copied over, including all the settings and downloadable content. The original profile is now in the new Game Data Folder on the new PS3. The problem is that when I start up LBP2, it does not recognize this old profile! Instead, it creates a new one, even importing the LBP1 profile in my save data. I think the problem is that somehow it is not recognizing the old profile data from the Game Data folder (not saved data). I was able to successfully upload an old but outdated backup (from Saved Data) but I need to know if there is a way to recover my old profile from the Game Data folder. If all else fails, I need a solution for the disc drive problem in the original PS3, then I can open LBP2 and backup the profile and then export it myself. I would much appreciate some help! Thanks! | 2012-06-10 06:18:00 Author: Unknown User |
Sadly the only way to transfer is to get game going (which is going to need a new drive) on your old ps3, back up the profile and save it onto a memory stick. Even if you have Playststion Plus and download the digital version (which is free at the moment) onto your old PS3 you still have to back up the original profile from the disk version and import it into the new digital version. Sorry its just bad news.... had a similar problem a while back. James | 2012-06-10 08:50:00 Author: James-p Posts: 286 |
I had this problem with my PS3, I used a USB to transfer my profile to my new PS3. If on your new PS3 you are using your same online account you will get all the downloaded items, just download them again. Copy the LBP1 and 2 profiles to your new PS3 then play through the intro level. In your pod press start and there should be an option to use an existing back-up profile. YOU DO NOT NEED TO START AGAIN . | 2012-06-10 11:55:00 Author: craigmond Posts: 2426 |

When I downloaded, it asked if I wanted to import the last backup of my profile which was about 4 months old ( My fault for not doing a backup often!) | 2012-06-10 13:39:00 Author: James-p Posts: 286 |
So if I get on PS+, then I can download LBP2 and use that to backup my old profile on my PS3? That would be great, because my old PS3 still works, its just the disc game cant load. However, let me reiterate that I am trying to backup an old profile in the Game Data Utility drive, NOT the save data backup folder. Also, downloaded content isnt the problem, its all the levels and creation work i did from my old account that i'm interested in transferring. thanks for your help! | 2012-06-11 04:57:00 Author: Unknown User |
