Standard User Viewing 'The Vault'

Archive: 11 posts

Just a quick thread - Are any other standard users suddenly able to see The Vault? And are any moderators/administrators aware of this?
I imagine it's likely just an accident caused by an admin screwing about in their Control Panel.

Just figured I should throw this out there so things like Spotlight WIPs don't get leaked, or people start getting nosey.
It's unlikely I've randomly been promoted to a higher user status without a PM prior, so I'm fairly confident this is a mistake.

For the sake of proving I saw what I saw, here's a screenshot -

Wasn't sure if I should make a thread or PM - I figure staff usually have a fair number of PMs to get through, anyways, and at least this way, someone is bound to see it.

Thanks for your concern.

We are aware.

Okay, so we have an Archive now, which should be freely viewable for all members. It is located in The Vault, under General Stuff. Private forums will be archived there as well, although only those who were involved with the content discussed in said private forums will be able to view them. That said, it should be a very useful tool for us to have, especially since LBP1/LBP PSP will soon become obsolete. I did my best to ensure the permissions work as expected, but permissions are incredibly difficult to get right - so if anything doesn't work like you think it should, let me know.

Thanks for the heads-up - it's fixed. It was thankfully limited to our Donor usergroup, so even for the brief time it was visible it was only visible to those who are already dedicated supporters of the site. Again, I appreciate the PM. Permissions are extremely tricky - I likely wouldn't have caught this without it.2012-06-09 17:22:00

Happy to help.

Curses! I should've stolen Spotlight 87 and revealed it ahead of whatever the planned release was! Then claimed I wrote it. Foiled again!

Another little hiccup I think - guests can view the "LBPC All Stars Challenge" forum.2012-06-09 18:41:00

I was pretty disgusted by some of the things written in there, even by Spaff.2012-06-10 05:01:00

I know you're joking, but I just want to be clear: the forum isn't private so we can write horrible things about our members without them knowing. It's private because planning the course of a site this big takes a lot of discussion and forethought, and having the scrutiny of everyone on every idea we discuss would be a bad thing. It's basically there to ensure you guys only see the best stuff we come up with

Btw, the spotlight crew may want to change their information as it was one of the viewable threads. I doubt anybody who has donated would steal it... But precautions are always a good thing. 2012-06-10 20:35:00
