Will you actually create on the beta?

Archive: 20 posts

Im just wondering, since the beta is only available to a certain number of people and all your levels are going to gone when the beta is closed anyway, do you actually have any incentive to create? Or will you do so, but not really try? Or do you just love creating and will go all out on the best level you can, knowing full well its demise is imminent?2012-06-08 15:45:00

Not knowing the release date for the retail version is the primary reason I won't try creating a finished level in the beta. If it was a long ways off I'd be more tempted to create something now.2012-06-08 16:04:00

to help test the servers, yes, but I won't be making anything significant. I have a GREAT idea and i'm not giving it a way cheaply!!! i'll be concentrating on breaking the game so that the devs can fix it2012-06-08 16:12:00

If I were to run into some good fortune and obtain a beta code, then yes; I would create.

Not only is it good practice, but my skills might be noticed where they wouldn't in the full game.

also bug finding

I would. I make levels for fun, if I do it for recognition or some other reason, I loose the thrill of publishing something I enjoyed making.(Plays and hearts are a very nice bonus though) I'll probably make a level after experimenting a bit.
Publishing stuff and creating stuff can help squash bugs in the beta too, so It's a win for everyone.
(This is all assuming I actually get the beta in the first place!)

Oh, and by the way, everyone wants a piece of the creative side of LBPV, so unless you absolutely don't touch create mode at all, you'll never know if an idea sparks and a level is created

I would definitely create. I have an idea for a level that I hope will blow people's minds. I can never seem to create on PS3, I could only find myself creating on PSP because I can take it anywhere. I'm hoping to take all of my knowledge and skill from these past couple of years, and finally create the level I've always wanted to. :3

Creating it in the Beta would be some nice practice, but I don't even have a Vita yet. -.-

I will be creating in the beta for sure. I actually have a little platformer that's been up for a week. It has more plays than my last psp level that I released almost a month ago. lol.

I doubt I will create anything large, it would break my heart to loose a big level when the beta ends. I need to get my mind right on all the new tools and logic. Creating on psp is somewhat primitive compared to what you can do on the vita with the lbp2 toolset.

Creating is just something I love to do. I can get lost in create mode all day sometimes.

Off course, its the main reason why I want to get in, to test out all the new tools and so on.
It wouldn't be anything too serious but I'd sure create!

My initial reaction was no, but then I started messing around and had most of a level built before I knew it. So, yes. It's an idea I never ended up using anywhere else, so I figured why not?

Yes. It's beautiful and once one tries it, I don't see why they wouldn't create. I'm still a newbie at it myself, though I've lived with LBP & LBP2 & LBP PSP all along, I only recently decided it's worth trying, got a code and voila! It's so cool ... I never got through the PSP first 3 levels let alone wanted to continue on to create on it. On the Vita though ... mmmmmmmm2012-06-14 23:45:00

I wonder, can you save your level in the BETA and publish it once you get the full game?
I mean, there are ten Team Picks now, will they just disappear?

No, you should assume that anything created in the beta is throw away.

Yes, they will disappear.

If there is something you want to use for the full game, take lot's of pictures.

I bet I have taken 200 snapshots the last couple weeks in this game.

I've been making a level for the past couple of days. I create much faster since I am able to just pull out my PS Vita whenever I get a good idea. Not to mention the new tools make it so I can add ridiculous amounts of detail to something insanely fast.

I'm mostly creating for fun like I usually do. I mean, how many levels have I ever actually published in the 4.5 years I've had LBP?

Plus it helps me find bugs that happen in more specific situations.

Wait, so if you create on the beta...... then the actual game comes out..... Does the beta shut down? or can you still use it but it just means no-one else will be on the beta to play it?2012-06-16 22:09:00

the Beta will be shut down a long time before the game releases and everything that is created with it will be wiped. you wouldn't want someone creating with the beta version and introducing bugs into the finished version

Well, yes, the server will be down, but you might still be able to use your local beta client offline, to check back on stuff you created in order to replicate it in the retail game.2012-06-18 13:38:00
