After a year of careful building the first few instalments of my tribute to the Back To The Future trilogy has gone live! I'm kind of scared, I mean; I spent a looooong time making content. I just used that new pin update to look and I'm up to 34 days of create. And this is the only thing I have been working on! F4F is something I really support and I am open to any feedback and criticism. The levels follow the movies fairly closely and will open out to more gameplay with the next few instalments, also I will be giving away much of the content. Pretty much whatever I think other BTTF fans would like to get their hands on. So don't be shy, and ask for stuff http://ie.lbp.me/img/ft/38e580621cc13289179aecb9bc6e0ce68286c3d5.jpg The Cake box is a lie http://i8.lbp.me/img/ft/5e8ae4fdc80ffaa2e5109f94de53106ef47ecf0a.jpg Ah the 80's... everyone was doing Aerobics | 2012-06-08 15:09:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |

I was disappointed that there was no actual gameplay yet, but I cried with joy when I saw the details scattered throughout your level. This. Was. Epic. Epicly awesome, dare I say. Hearted. Yayed. And loved it to bits. | 2012-06-09 02:58:00 Author: Kaboosh99 Posts: 359 |
Wow this looks incredible! I've been cautiously avoiding any level that has LBN Tribute in front of it so that I wouldn't get sucked into playing all of them.. but this has to be played! I love Back to the Future and from the screenshots it looks like you're going to do it justice | 2012-06-09 08:26:00 Author: Nick930930 Posts: 878 |
I have just played it, looks very good and the music its great one of my fav songs. Only thing I would say and not sure if its fixable but the buildings seem to change colour as the stickers sometimes dissapear but that doesnt detract from the level at all. Brilliant If you would play either of my levels I would really appreciate it. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=70154-LBP2-level https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=71131-Giant-Fun-House Thanks | 2012-06-09 15:13:00 Author: Unknown User |
Played it and it blew me away. Even though there was not much real game-play, the design was incredible. You deserve a lot more recognition than you have. It was astonishing and brilliant to play. I look forward to the next parts of this series! Keep the next parts consistent and you have a fabulous series here . No need for F4F . | 2012-06-09 15:13:00 Author: craigmond Posts: 2426 |
Thanks! I was worried that the lack of gameplay may have made the effort of making the town not pay off. As the series progresses there will be more to do. Not much happens in the movie until Marty actually meets Doc that would make good gameplay. In regards to consistency 1955 and 2015, 1885 Hill Valley were built at the same time so they are all the same base model, and 1955 and 1985 are almost exactly the same except for dirt and stuff. No need for F4F . @Mollycule, the stickers flickering is a bug due to the amount of stickers on screen. It's something I am trying to avoid, but 1985 has it the worst, because of all the dirt and grime. | 2012-06-09 23:41:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
I shall queu..oh wait, already played. First, loved the first part. I mean it was spot on to the movie. You've obviously spent a ton of time detailing the scene. I was a little disappointed to not actually see Marty fly back into the speaker. Surely this can be done someway. I liked the top down view here and the split screen phone call was great. Moving to the next link, the town portion. Here's where I disagree with you. You said not much happens till he meets up with Doc. True enough, but you could add in your own flair to make it more playable. maybe on the way to school it could be a mini game of dodge the cars. Different cars are coming towards you and you have to move in/out to avoid being hit and score points along the way. The buildings are very detailed (I can't believe you gave them away!)so I enjoyed the scenery, though I hopped off my skateboard to collect a prize and the board kept going and I never saw it again. Maybe it went to 1955 without me Anyway, this looks to be a promising series and I can't wait to see what else you do with it. | 2012-06-11 00:44:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
@ Bio, thanks for the feedback I did have Marty flying topdown into the speaker, but thought looked a little strange, so was going to build it in side view. Which I sort of regretted not doing as soon as I published it. With the second level I do feel it is a little week and toyed with ideas to inject more game and did layout a traditional platformer where you jump through Doc's equipment along the top of giant dog food cans and such, but it was too far past what 'realism' I wanted. In the other direction, I also toyed with a Frogger style Hill Valley section, but again wasn't thrilled with it being at the start because I kind of wanted it all to lead up to the time machine (which I didn't finish in time). But let's just say... I have the entire Hill Valley laid out in top view also, and there will be a section very similar to the one you mention, with manure. As for the skateboard zipping off, well, BLAST YOU! I thought I had that fixed *bangs head against wall* er... I mean, it isn't meant to do that. | 2012-06-11 02:06:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
Your attention to detail was spot on. I really appreciate the accuracy of the intro to the next installment of gameplay,. From what I just have read, if I'm not mistaken, you spent about a year on this? Wowza, I can imagine considering the amount of detail you had put into your levels. This is by far the best BTTF skit I have seen. I look forward to the rest of the series. Good luck in the competition | 2012-06-11 11:26:00 Author: tripple_sss Posts: 250 |
From what I just have read, if I'm not mistaken, you spent about a year on this? Sort of... I mean I have had the game for a year, and have only really been making BTTF content. I tried really hard to make it accurate so sourcing images, making signs, getting blueprints and then making them LBPified is a slow process. Which is pretty much done now having all the sets built, now all I need do is make fun stuff to do with them... | 2012-06-11 14:01:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
Awesome inspiration of one of the greatest movie trilogies ever. The intro movie has some very cool visuals and effects, despite that I don't see Marty pushed backward by a giant sound machine. Part 1 has a really good use of 3d layers, and it's fun to ride a skateboard. The music recreations were well-made, too. It's a shame that the skateboard was missing after I left it alone. Great job, though. VISUALS: 5/5 SOUND: 5/5 GAMEPLAY: 4/5 OVERALL: Both levels got a yay from me F4F (LBPC8) Hydro Turbulence | 2012-06-16 02:34:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
Awesome, attention to detail, I didn't used the skateboard at all. I liked that you gave out the buildings as prizes, but personaly I don't use community stuff in my levels, just mess with them around in Create Mode. Good luck with the contest. | 2012-06-18 14:10:00 Author: BillyCrash100 Posts: 134 |
I've just played both levels. There are extremly detailed and close to the movies look and feel. I love the top view in Doc's place. The saketboarding was fun. Sometimes it moves as i press R2 and not me be on it, or Marty float aboves if i jump. Besides this, a great tribute. | 2012-06-19 10:15:00 Author: Zhibou Posts: 14 |
I can't wait for this to be finished! Nice detail. Clever conversation. This is going to be great ^^ Although I did get a little confused on the skateboarding bit. I got off of it a few times by accident. I didn't realize your could go backwards with L2 (is it L2?) Maybe it just needs the prompt at the bottom. Keep up the excellent work! https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=69807-The-Reflex-Game-Track-Mode-(1-4-Players) https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=69777-The-Reflex-Game-Crosshair-Mode-(1-4-Players) https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=71575-Capture-the-Leader https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=71542-The-Labyrinth | 2012-06-19 23:55:00 Author: Unknown User |
so cool! It's been ages since I've seen the movie, but that opening sequence you put together brought back memories. The visuals were awesome. It's probably me, but when the text said to "grab" your skateboard, I was thinking that I should be able to interact with the board by pressing triangle (like the other areas in the map). I didn't realize that I could actually use the grab trigger to get it! | 2012-07-30 02:01:00 Author: HeySK Posts: 54 |
Feedback on those 2 levels: It's hard to give feedback on the looks, because I have never seen a Back To The Future movie (it has nothing to do with my age, I'm 22 at the moment, don't hate me for not have watched the movies xD), but it looked awesome and the attention to detail was great, the first level was nothing I would change if I were you, I loved how you could skip between top down view and side scrolling platform action, no idea how you managed to do that, awesome! However I have some criticism on the second part: - the skateboard doesn't control pretty well, it's hard to come to a stop easily and it goes from 0 to 100 in 1 second - the same skateboard broke when I hit the wall on the right (the clock tower building?), and the wheels remained on the ground, I'm pretty sure it shouldn't do that, I think it has to do because the wall is to low, and the skateboard gets stuck on it and then the game deletes the board. - perhaps it has to do with the level not being finished yet, but there was a lady who asked my help on the clock tower, but I couldn't figure out what she wanted exactly when I arrived at the clock tower. Anyway, good level, looked good, keep working on it! | 2012-12-02 15:51:00 Author: Unknown User |
Ha! Very interesting feedback, I am very happy with how the first stage turned out, but was disappointed by the feel of the second. It's funny that you haven't seen the movies and you raise a great gameplay point that no one that has seen the movies would bring up. I have been thinking about ways to make the second level more engaging for a while now before I continue with the story. Your comment about the top down in the first stage and misunderstanding the line about the 'Save the Clock Tower' line (having not seen the movie) have helped me make some decisions about all this I was turning over in my mind. | 2012-12-03 08:09:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
