People Publishing your level as their own.

Archive: 13 posts

After spending a rediculous amount of time building my latest level "The LittleBig Matrix", I published it and was happy to see the general public liked it.

Now at some point I must have left the level copyable as I was just going through one of my newly aquired LBP friends levels when I came across my level published as his own. It was the exact same level. He had just changed the Description asking people to heart him as a creator!

I messeged him asking for him to take it down but he just blocked me and inored all comments left on the level page.

I was of the impression that the copy tool is there so you can copy the level to your moon so you can learn from it not pretend its your own!

Is there any comeback for when this happens? It just seems a little out of the spirit of the whole thing. Maybe Its just one of those "live and learn" things...

Live and learn I'm afraid, there's very little recourse to it. This is about the same as if you made yourself a custom forum avatar which people started to rip off and use as their own.

Personally, I make sure to keep my levels locked until I'm satisfied with the feedback I've gotten, I then make it copyable for other people to do what they please with them. I've had one of my levels copied, but the person left a comment on the original stating that they would and also gave credit on the copy.

The best you can do if you are really bothered about it is simply post in their comments that you are the original creator and to ask players to play the original from you.

Hi Wexfordian,

How childish it is!!!
Can you give us here its PSN? It will be a first advertisement.
Because if he do not delete your level, we are a lot here that could respond with systematic one star and bad tag on these levels... It will be a Childfish attitude in return, but you could at least try to afraid him...

I think thats a pretty low trick... I agree with Takelow, you should hand over his name so we can all add comments explaining he ripped your level!2009-01-05 17:25:00

Hell, if your level didn't have anything to do with The Matrix, you could take him to court.2009-01-05 21:25:00

well if you want to make it copyable, the thing is you are really only giving them a conceptual thing in it, and that is it, but never really made it in to a level of ANY sort, that is when you make it copyable, either that or it sucks and you want a friend to work on it with you.

Cheers!

I know, this is why I didn't really want to bring it up on a grief report.

I spammed the comment section of "his" level and it seems to have worked I think he has taken it down.

Turns out I didn't need to to worry too much as my level has shot up the ratings and is now permanantly in the cool levels section. (I only made it last week!)

Thanks guy's for all the replies!
