LEGO brick exhibition (http://lbp.me/v/bp28se)

I had been looking for a certain level of brick design in LBP LEGO themed levels and wasn't finding what I wanted. So I halted work on all my other levels to work on bricks of my own and this is my first attempt at displaying them. This level is more of a showcase of what is possible with what I came up with than a straight-on platformer adventure style level. I plan on making some of those though too.

If you're expecting two or three blocks with pegs on them that vaguely resemble childhood memories of the LEGO concept, you are in for a pleasant surprise. these are based on real bricks and look and fit together as much like the real thing as LBP's design structure allows... I'm still refining my brick creation, but this felt good enough for publication. I even included optional prize bubbles with an early selection of the bricks I came up with. I made a minifigure (what brick enthusiasts call the little LEGO people), but have no plans to include any in these levels, as so far I'm not happy with it yet.

the pictures look great. Got it queued. Just a heads up. When you start a thread in the Level Showcase area there are two options to choose from: "Post New Level" and the "Post New F4F Level" The feedback for feedback option is..well, just that. You're telling people that if they leave feedback on your level then you'll do the same for them
also, there is the option to input your LBP.me info. It will say "LBP.me Level ID:*" and have a little box out to the side of it. You would put the end part of your LBP.me url in that box. So in your case, for this level it is bp28se. Why do that? Because by putting that in, it will automatically put the level badge and description right in the thread for you. Like this:

pretty cool. Anyway, just trying to help out and get the thread noticed more. Welcome to the site BTW.

edit: Hmm, don't know why it didn't put the description in. Usually works.

Thanks for the tips. I just designed a whole bunch more bricks today because the next level I make will likely be LEGO Space themed. I will edit this post with a brick count. That's unique bricks, not number of bricks used. All are precision built and tested for fit, based on actual bricks made by LEGO. My bricks are marginally taller, but when I make them shorter they don't fit snuggly for some reason.

Unique brick count:
-today ... 23 interlocking bricks
-total ... (aprox.) 76 interlocking bricks
also 18 tipped over bricks. (9 brick faces, 9 brick bottoms.)

I made twelve more bricks today (windshields/screens and small wall panels) for a grand total of 88. I was thinking of also making a level called "LBP LEGO Factory" where you can build anything... but man... 88 emitters for each layer (which you would custom color with your stickers)... yecch... is that even possible without overheating? I think I'd have to leave some out. I'm also sad to report that any Technic brick longer than 6 pegs is "too complex of a shape". I plan to work around this by making Technic ends and supplemental middle segments for longer technic bricks.2012-06-03 16:55:00

I had fun playing your level yesterday. The bricks do fit together surprisingly well and it was cool trying to build the the little house at the end of the level. The amount of time and effort you've put into making the different bricks and window/door pieces really shows. Unfortunately for me, I 'd driven the Lego truck too far before I stopped it and so I couldn't get to all the bricks behind it to finish the house. Perhaps you could make some kind of road block so players stop just before they get to the house?

I also thought that the fun bit was getting to play with the bricks yourself and seeing the plane and truck. The platforming sections didn't really add to the experience for me. I'd make it more of a showcase with building opportunities. Anyway, well done on creating usable Lego - I wouldn't have thought it possible!

Wow. This level has been included in a Little Big Planetarium "Cool Levels list" by Smurfetta. The link is listed in my signature below. If someone can clue me in to what "COTC" stands for, I'd be grateful. I don't know if she is also part of LBPC, but if she is, thanks for the nod Smurfetta.

Okay... I just checked my link and my level is gone. I don't understand. I hope it wasn't sniped by jerks. Kind of hoping it's just a glitch. I will have to republish it when I get home.

What the heck, lbp.me... Now my level is back, the list link is there, but when I look at the list, I don't see me listed there. I hate phon-ernet. I suspect 3G is the culprit.
