Tomb Of The Lost Pharaoh. Yes.

Archive: 3 posts

Okay, so I'm making a sort of puzzler in, you guessed it, a tomb. There'll be multiple chambers and rooms that hold puzzles or challenges that require one to pass in order to proceed. I want to make it more difficult as you go, and as you know, I wrench my brains clean of ideas before even getting 1/4 of the level done.
So, any ideas? I'd appreciate it greatly, because with more than one mind contributing to this could certainly make it an actually good level. I already have:
-The cliche stepping stones in the ground that activates a trap
-A switch puzzle in which you must pull the switches in the correct order to proceed
-A spike trap with falling bricks (and a wall prior to that that hints which blocks are stable or not)
I'm still thinking of ideas, of course, but I just can't wrap my mind around the amazing things people can come up with. I know it's not easy, but seriously, WHERE do they get this stuff?
Some clever traps or platforms would do me some good right now. I've already got the design and stuff, but I just need some idea help. Thanks! :hero:

I always give this (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StockVideoGamePuzzle) a good read when trying to come up with puzzles. Even though I've read it about 20 times now, it's amazing how much new stuff you can come up with when you've a new location (level) to work with.2012-06-02 11:47:00

Floor moving in so you fall to your death? Maybe some rooms have mummies in them that slowly follow you can kill you, so you need to do the puzzle avoiding them. Theres a 5x5 grid with 24 blockss, or 4x4 with 15 and you can move them around if there is a free space (which there only can be one) and you got to complete a picture of a scarab. Hidden rooms which can be full of points (you pull a switch and it says, you hear a loud rumble nearby) indicating you opened it.2012-06-02 11:56:00
