FINALLY...lol

After helping others, and playing around with ideas and logic for months, I finally have commited myself to making a level...
I was debating whether or not to post a thread, but I decided for my friends on LBPC, (and of course anyone who may be interested), that I'm working on a level thats hopefully going to be both fun and creepy.
It's currently 25% done, and am working on the title at the moment. It's basically a story of a vampire hunter who is tasked with clearing an old gothic estate of the blood sucking children of darkness. It's going to be a very 'dark fantasy' style game for one player.
I will keep updates coming in from time to time, and try to put up some pictures. I hope you guys will like it and it will be 'a different experience' for players.

Thankyou Ironface, Its looking Quite gothic at the moment...and Yes, you big windows are in there lol.

Its gonna be a slow build though. Only thing I can really say about it at the moment is Draft one of the story. It's a little Castlevania in places lol.

-The Story- Youil play a character who is a vampire hunter. Your family has been killed by a band of roaming vampires. (debating whether to do a movie of this part or not).After many months, you track them back to thier lair, a creepy old mansion called Raven's Hollow. Here is where the game begins. You must explore the mansion and crypts in order to hunt every last vampire and put an end to the covens evit reign of terror. Thats the basic story (draft 1)
I'm deciding on traditional vampire killing techniques, however the games time period (at the moment) is set from 9pm to 5am (sun up) . The vampires wake at 12 midnight, so essentially you will have 3 hours to find and slay them safely.

1. Spirit Urns
2. Time (10mins real time = 1 hour game time)
3. Each vampire will have thier own look.
4. The Relic of Malachi - A rune stone that sings in the location of a vampire.
5. exterior of mansion

7. interactive items logic, player logic, and titles.

Its gonna take a while so I'll keep you all updated as i go. Hope you'll all enjoy playing it and good look with all your own projects

Just a piece of advice, if you think this sounds good, maybe you could consider adjusting the 10mins real time = 1 hour game time to 5mins real time = 1 hour game time. The only reason I'm suggesting this is because I know some players who might get a bit impacient with having to play a level for 80mins to get the full experience. This is only draft 1 at the moment, so, all advice is certainly welcome :-)
I'm working on the logic at the moment and animating the titles a bit. Again, its still early stages so far and a lot may change in gameplay...4
but the game style and mansion are . I'm actually looking forward to doing the crtpts and cellars lol :-)

It may already be a feature in your level, but I find, with the addition of ominous, difficult puzzles (think Silent Hill/Resident Evil) a creepy level can become a terrifying level. It can turn a mere problem into a challenge. All of my levels have become intensely more sinister with puzzles here and there.2012-06-01 15:05:00

He he, interesting idea Ironface. AS it stands the puzzles are just gonna be simle ones like finding keys etc.
But, a nice idea to include puzzles like Resi.'s ones.
All ideas are welcome...what do depole like in this kind of level. Its definitely an explorer as player has to search out the resting places oi the different vampires. There may be a creepy butlet about in the house, not sure yet, but if he is there he will be super creepy

Hi everyone.
Just thought I'd give you a small update on how my levels going for those who are interested

Was helping a few friends with thier levels so it's been kinda slow progress.... BUT.... I have the first working draft in place.
So far there are only 5 places to go (halls and one room), Tested it last night for first time, with all the elements in place, and it is very
fluid and working the way i want it to. I'd love to show you all some screenshots but as yet havent got round to uploading any.
I can tell you now that the Level is 30% complete, and the player character model is in place... (think Victorian style attire).

Any ideas or things you'd like to see included in a creepy mansion (rooms, furniture, etc,) you'd like to see included or any ideas you think would be good, by all means suggest away, and I'm happy for any input.

I'll keep you all posted as it goes....

Bare in mind, it's still a Work In Progress.... So a lot in the gameplay may change.

However the basic gameplay and location as it stands will be staying. I may incorporate other creatures, but at the moment its, just vampires and thier servants.

I appreciate the help Halfire. I'm good though.... Its laying it all out is the headache, hehe.
But getting there.. Sorry I cant get any pics up though, be nice to show the progress.

I've decided to relocate the entrance in it. I'm making good progress, but its very slow, I've actually only got 'The Study', and the 'Artists room So, its more exploring at the moment....however its only build 4 and still a lot to do, The play is to make the mansion have 30 rooms in total.
This will include the grounds. As it stands though... the attack/stake move is in (although, i may chamge the animation, to make it more
'fighty' as opposed to more, 'stabby' :-)
It now starts in the gardens by a statue.
Will keep updates coming as i make the level.
I'm hoping to have it done in another 4 weeks
