Water

Archive: 11 posts

I doubt this hasn't been thought of before, but I was thinking you could use it as a mat, and if you put something electric in it you would die of electricution, but withouth electricity you could swim, and they could add a level which gives you gills so that you can swim underwater, and with the shark outfit you could swim faster, you could also choose how big the waves are. Anyone else eager to have this in LBP?2009-01-04 22:08:00

I could see water definately being something they will add-on... But I would like to see all the stupid bugs fixed first. As for the shark idea, I don't think that would be fair, no one should have an advantage over another...2009-01-04 22:22:00

look at the thread "a 'paint' tool" to see an interview from OPM with an important MM member. It shows some other interesting LBP possibilities.2009-01-04 22:25:00

The problem with water lies in how it would work-

Would it be like a danger? Where as you turn a piece of material into water?

If so, then say you make a square block... a block of water.

Would you just jump into it to swim, or would it fall like real water? Obviously not, since that would be WAY too hard to program- so it would be like a shape carved into water.

So, if you get out of the water at any time, you could fall o_0.

... May be possible for them at some point, but I think it would be like a danger, so don't expect it to be realistic- we would have to be able to have blocks of water :/.

if you have seen their lighting effects they can CAN do it, but they could make it where you cant use the mat but you can mat change something else into water as long as its mostly surrounded by something.2009-01-04 23:14:00

I agree good idea, not the shark thing though. Blocks of water wouldn't be so bad, it would allow more freedom anyway.

It's a good idea but make it so your sack boy can get maybe 5 seconds to get out before he drowns to death2009-01-06 23:56:00

I'm guessing they've already worked on this (and if they haven't discarded it, it's probably still being worked on). Water is one of the key elements.. so it'll have to be DLC at some point.
They need to fix all they existing bugs before introducing hundreds more.

Err... It would be just as hard as putting water in any other game...
Putting free falling water wouldn't be hard at all, but it would introduce a lot of bugs.

You could make your own sand timers and things... Or something that pours water into a bucket that eventually tips a weight which opens a door after an estimated period of time.

*Adding to suggested list for Water Physics*
Water should be inserted by holding X over one spot, thus spawning water and filling the area it is in.
There should be options on how it does this exactly, fill 1-3 layers ect.
