Hello, and welcome to my latest project, inspired by 2 LBP levels and 2 games I love to bits -
The levels are Battleground X and LittleBig Air Warfare. I love Air Warfares easy-to-pick up playstyle, and it's variety in available vehicles and strategies. And I was inspired by BattleGround X's demonstration of just how an LBP RTS could potentially play out.
The games I took inspiration from are Battalion Wars and Advance Wars, both of which have entertained me for years. Particularly Battalion Wars.

Microwars is a simple RTS level designed to incorporate a rock/paper/scissors combat mechanic, with as little micro-management as possible. All vehicles have unlimited ammo, unlimited fuel and don't require specific attack commands to attack enemies.
The game is designed to be challenging in both it's single player missions, and it's multiplayer missions with environments that often leave several possible approaches or vehicle options in order to get through.
In addition to unlimited ammo and simple commands, Microwars has no currency system - Whenever players have a Factory, Aerodrome or Shipyard available, players can produce a maximum of 20 vehicles, regardless of their size or effectiveness. The balance your battalion has, is purely down to the player. 20 massive tanks may look devastating, but a single Bomber will turn them into scrap cardboard in moments.

Vehicles get around the map by following paths the player draws for them. Press X over a vehicle and drag the arrow around to set the route you want the vehicle to follow.
Vehicles shoot at the closest enemy within their various attack radius's, automatically, so just guide vehicles into a combat zone and watch them have at it!
The cursor can be hidden with the Square button for stealth when playing against another player. Or for taking neat photo's.
Triangle opens the vehicle info pop-up. See the vehicles health, and it's combat role. (Ground-to-ground, Anti-Air, etc)
Circle opens the Spawn Menu if the cursor is over the top of any spawn pads. Spawn pads can be identified by a coloured star surrounded by a silver ring.

The health display above a 'Flakker' Anti-Air vehicle.

In addition to the standard commands, Left, Right & Up on the D-Pad can issue advanced commands to certain vehicles.

Left toggles between the 'Pursue' and 'Hold Ground' commands. If the vehicle is set to 'Pursue', the vehicle will chase after any passing enemies.

Up toggles between 'Return Fire' and 'Fire at Will' option. Fire at Will means the vehicle will attack as soon as it can. Return Fire means the vehicle won't attack, unless the enemy shoot first. Although you won't use this often, if you're playing against another player and you both feel you're at a stalemate, a ceasefire may just be the way to go.
Strike when the time is right!

Right switches between 'Stop and Fight' and 'Keep Moving'. If you set a path for your vehicle, and it passes by a nearby enemy, should it halt, or keep on moving? Sometimes you'll want your vehicle to avoid entanglement whenever possible, and other times you just want to let 'em have it!

Also, you can zoom the camera in and out with the Right Stick.

When it comes to deploying your squad in Microwars, it's important to know what is the best option! All this info and more is available in-level, but here's a quick rundown -

MicroTank (Ground-to-Ground)
Quick, versatile vehicles, a squad of MicroTanks can quickly overwhelm. Paired with a means to keep them repaired, they can be highly effective.

LaserTank (Ground-to-Ground)
Sometimes the standard cannon on the Microtank just won't cut it. LaserTanks have a slow charge-up time before they fire, but their rounds do much more damage. The advantage to LaserTanks is that they do much more damage in a quick skirmish due to their first hit being equivalent to around 4 Microtank shells, however, this advantage is quickly lost if the vehicle misses a hit or is overwhelmed.

Warlord Tank (Ground-to-Ground)
A sluggish heavy hitter, the Warlord is like a clunky Microtank. It fires at twice the rate, and has nearly double the health. Each shot from the Warlord does the same damage as the MicroTank, so the Warlord is equivalent to 2 MicroTanks.

Recon Jeep (Light Ground-to-Ground / Support)
This vehicle should avoid entanglement wherever possible. Useful for capturing structures, or causing light damage to enemies while something bigger does the hard work.

Medi-Jeep (Repair Vehicle)
Armed with it's Medi-Missiles, the Medi-Jeep is useful when following behind allied vehicles. It cannot repair vehicles at a faster rate than they take damage, but it can make the difference between successful or failed skirmishes. It cannot repair itself, but it can repair allied Medi-Jeeps.

Artillery (Long-Range Ground-to-Ground)
Captain Ostlers personal favourite, Artillery can scope out targets from across rivers or battlefields and lend a hand in damaging enemy ground units. It's slow rate of fire makes it slightly less effective than a Microtank, however, it does more damage, and so long as the enemy doesn't close the gap, this vehicle can land hits on the enemy all day.

Flakker Anti-Air (Rapid-Fire Ground-to-Air)
Armed with 2 cannons geared for destroying enemy air vehicles, the Flakker is a terrifying sight for enemy pilots. It has to take a moment to charge up the cannons, but afterwards, it can fire a neverending stream of low-damage bullets at the enemy. With no ground-to-ground weapons, however, it must be defended against enemy tanks.

Swarmer Anti-Air (Homing Missile Ground-to-Air)
Armed with 4 homing missiles, the Swarmer can quickly put enemy aircraft out of commission. It does more damage in a shorter time span than the Flakker, but it's slower and requires a reload between salvo's.

Gunship (Helicopter. Air-To-Ground)
Armed with 2 Air-to-Ground missile launchers, Gunships can quickly put an end to enemy tanks. Low armour leaves it extremely vulnerable to Anti-Air precautions, though, so it must be kept well out of their range.

Eagle Fighter (Air-to-Air)
A quick Jet Fighter armed with a high rate of fire on a single A-to-A missile launcher. High armour gives it a little defence against Anti-Air precautions and make it very effective at dealing with enemy Air-to-Air vehicles.

Hawk Fighter (Air-to-Air)
A faster, heavier armed Fighter. Less armour but a faster speed make this fighter better prepared to attack enemy Air-to-Ground vehicles and despense of them quickly.

Bomber (Air-to-Ground)
Nothing strikes fear into the heart of the enemy Commander quite like the sound of the Bombers shells falling to the ground. Extreme armour and firepower, only hindered by it's slow speed and production time. The Bomber is armed with 8 bombs per load, and has a sluggish re-load time. Ideal against grouped enemies.

Titan Battleship (Ground-to-Ground)
Armed with 3 standard shells at a time, the Titan is ideal for protecting beaches against enemy tanks that dare to get too close.

Electro Battleship (Ground-to-Ground)
Very similar to the LaserTank, the Electro is armed with the single most damaging weapon in Microwars. Just like the LaserTank, it requires a recharge between shots, in addition to it's reload.

Dreadnaught (Long-Range Ground-to-Ground)
Dwarfing even the Artillery's range, Dreadnaughts are the Warlord Tanks of the sea. Armed with 4 extremely long range shells in each Salvo, Dreadnaughts can protect coasts single handedly against enemy approach.

Vulcan Frigate (Rapid-Fire Ground-to-Air)
Built from parts of the Flakker Anti-Air unit, the Vulcan behaves in a very similar way to it's land counter-part.

Hydra Frigate (Homing Missile Ground-to-Air)
Armed with 6 Anti-Air homing missiles, the Hydra is slightly more intimidating than it's land counterpart, the Swarmer. It makes up for it's larger payload by having a slower reload.

http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb369/Ostler5000/Microwarsicons2-Facilities.png
If you're going to dominate the field, you need to know what facilities are available, and what they're for.

Base -
Spawns 6 repair power-ups periodically. A useful post to hold onto if you're fighting over territory.

Factory -
Comes with a land vehicle spawn point, so it can produce Tanks and Anti-Air vehicles.

Aerodrome -
Comes with an air vehicle spawn point, so it can produce Gunships, Fighters and Bombers. A critical facility to hold onto.

Shipyard -
Comes with a naval spawn point so it can produce Battleships, Frigates & Dreadnaughts.

The Reds dominate Industrial Cove. Note the Red Shipyard, Base and Aerodrome.

Go get 'em, Commander.

I always love the way you post your levels. Lots of information, pictures, etc. You spend a lot of time on these and they look great. A perfect example of how to post a level in the thread. Queuing the level. Can't wait to see it.2012-05-26 15:18:00

My level lost No.4 on the trending page like... 5 minutes after it made it up there. A little disappointing.

Anyways, thanks, Biorogue. I love creating these sweet looking threads. I mean, I'll never understand how people can spend a month working on a level, then think that they can do their level justice by creating a thread in 30 seconds. This only took around 15-20 minutes, including the time spent in Photoshop, and I think the results are totally worth it.

I just queued this, and I cant wait to play!
This seems so thought out and planed, and it seems like it diserves more plays then I saw on LBP.
I also agree with bio, and the post seems just as thought out as the level.

About the trending page, levels go up and down all the time. Older levels can still get up there, so dont get upset.
Hopefuly ill be back soon!

Thanks for queueing, guys, and I'm always glad to hear my work is appreciated, Pyro.

I added a new single player mission last night. "Time Critical" is designed to give players a bit more freedom in how they plan to complete the mission than most of the others do.

This level...It's amazing. The logic is insanely awesome, it must have taken so long. The gameplay is without glitches at all, no bugs or anything. It's quite hard to pick up first time, but other than that it's just amazing!2012-06-06 20:52:00

brilliant level Ostler, just amazing. I didn't get as far as I would have liked. I really stink at RTS's even though I really like them. I used to play those one's where your people start off as cavemen and you have to progress through the ages, Age of Empires it was called. I remember getting pummeled all the time because my idiots were still chopping wood for campfires and the enemy had progressed to where they had jet planes and stuff. Anyway, I digress.
The moment you enter this level, you realize that it's something special. I loved the classroom area and the launch map is awesome. Then you get into the game and I was amazed with the landscape and the vehicles and the gameplay mechanics in general. Very fun, even when I was losing all of my equipment to the enemy! Outstanding work on this. Really top notch work.

Thanks, guys. Glad to hear people are enjoying this with minimal issues.

I haven't updated this thread with any info recently, but I added 2 new missions the other day. "Time Critical" - a timed single player mission to destroy the Reds Satellite Uplinks. And a similar mission for 2 players, "Assault on Katon Canyon", where the Blue team must fend off the Red team for 14 minutes. If the Reds destroy all the Blue Uplinks during that time, they win.

Also made modified verion of promotional forum signiture for shiggles, using Biorogues approved stamp. I thought it was pretty amusing.

My level lost No.4 on the trending page like... 5 minutes after it made it up there. A little disappointing.

That always happens. They don't have much of an impact on plays whatsoever that I've found. Hardly any people use LBP.me when compared to the total amount of people in the community.
